I do. You can't blame every man's mishap or mistake on original sin. It's a misconception that all "bad" was caused by original sin.

God gave us free will, so I suppose he wants us to exercise that free will. He didn't answer every question in the bible because he wanted us to answer some of them. Humans gave their answer. Is our answer right or wrong? What about the free will of those children? This post has been edited by Jako: Nov 9 2009, 09:33 PM |

I believe all things begin deteriorating as soon as they are created in a physical world. Right???
I mean we find ways to postpone death and repair some broken things, but the end is always definite. Anyway have fun on this topic~ Toodles |

You still haven't answered my question: Is it right or wrong? Also, how do you know they don't have a will? Do they gain a will as soon as they are born? Is a will what makes us human? You don't need me to tell you if it's right or wrong. We need a personality for free will. Babies still in development operate on instinct. This means they have no free will. It may not be what makes us human, but it's a large part. |

Are very mentally retarded people any less human? |

My answer won't really help you though, would it? my saying it is good or bad isn't going to make you suddenly think "amazing! He's right!" Our personalities begin to be shaped from our experiences in the world, so y3es, babies do gain a personality. And mentally retarded people still have personalitys. |

Nope, I just want to see if you can say it. Again: As soon as a baby enters the world he/she somehow gains a personality? Think these things through my friend. Depends on the level of retardation. At what level do you decide this? Just like Daryan, you need to sit down and think these things through. |

Just like Daryan, you need to sit down and think these things through. You mean type it. As soon as a baby enters the world, they start experiencing events, which shape their personality. If someone is crawling around on the floor biting off their own arm and mauling people, are they still as human as the next person? |

Ok, so... a baby doesn't experience anything before they enter the world? Seriously? Yes, they are human. Think, man, I don't think you know what you're saying here. You're pretty much saying that humanity decides who is human and who gets to live or die based on what they experience and what they can and can't do. What makes this any different from slavery? Please, think this through. I'm not trying to insult you, I just want you to really think about what you're saying, and where it can lead. |

Yes, humans decide who gets to live and die. They have decided that due to the fact that babies do not yet have personalities, gained through experience, they are not yet people. They have the potential to become people, but are not people themselves. What they can and can't do doesn't have anything to do with it. Slavery, on the other hand, is a system whereby someone will threaten to kill other people if they don't do what he says. There is little comparison here. |

I ask the same question: how on earth does this baby again a personality as soon as they exit the womb? So, the second they enter this world they somehow gain human rights? And yes, even floating in goo does count as experience. Babies while in the womb still look around and they react to things, but I guess we now choose the experiences that make us human. Where does it end? Think about what you're saying, man. Back then when slavery was legal, the white peeps decided that black people could be owned as property because of their skin color. They decided they weren't as human as white people. Whats the difference? |
