So if I knock you unconscious, you are no longer human?

Semantic issue. Maybe sentience is the better word?

Sentience. Characterised by sensation. Awareness. Consciousness.

An unconscious person is not sentient. Nor are they sapient, if you were planning on substituting that term instead.

Consciousness. Not just a very basic level of consciousness, but a very complex highly developed one that's human. An adult cow is very much conscious, yet we don't consider it to have our level of consciousness, so it's not human.

And how do you know that defines a human?

We live in a sick world. You can have sex with whoever you want, decide not to have the baby and then get it ground up into goo to rub on your skin to make yourself look better. Nothing wrong with that is there?

Big deal. Those fetuses are about as human as fat sucked off the butts of rich fat women.

I guess you were the same as those aborted babies, you say they are as human as the "fat" sucked out of a obese womans butt right? Except you were given a chance of life and they weren't hmmmm.... weird.

QUOTE (Decoy @ Nov 4 2009, 07:11 PM) *
Looked at yourself in the mirror lately?

maybe he thinks he crawled out of the water instead of his mother's womb... how else can someone have such strange views of what is human and what's not.

QUOTE (Sinnerman @ Nov 4 2009, 11:24 PM) *
Here, the fetus is not even less of a human, it's not a human.

Does it ever occure to you, that you were once in the womb just like the babies you mock? Did you ever think that you could have been aborted just like the thousands aborted each year? I guess not... maybe you should ask your mother how "human" you were in the womb? Believe me she won't say " oh yes you were very much a useless blob"

The government has the power to allow this becuase the american people gave them power. The reason they can decide this is that they decided on the type of government they want, and agreed it would have power over them.

A fetus is human, it just doesn't gain personhood till it's born (and thus no longer in the womb)

Even if you're unconscious, your brain is still generating brain waves. I guess.

Aaaand so does the brain of a cow. But you just said cows aren't human, so apparently the mere presence of brain activity isn't enough.

Make your mind up.

What are you getting at dude? Big difference between driving a car and grinding up babies and if you can't see that you really gotta check your head.

There's not a difference in the overall result; if you buy products from a mega corporation that contain byproduct that are hazardous chemical waste dumped into the ground which seeps into the ground water killing the wildlife and then contaminating the local water supply thus giving all who dwell in that area cancer as a result of exposure to those toxic chemicals, ipso facto, six degrees of separation, you helped spread that cancer. If you drive a car and add to the pollution problem, giving children(who aren't already predetermined medical waste) lung cancer, then you are essentially part responsible.

All sin is the same; no one sin is worse than another; be sure to judge yourself first.

People have no problem killing the earth, but abort a week old zygote and you'd think the world was ending.

Why is it that Christians support this? Do you not have the guts to stand against something that is clearly wrong? You make up excuses to numb the facts but this is still outright wrong. Do you just not care about fighting against injustice and evil? Lay down and let it trample you, accept sin and just "love" everyone into getting saved.

A lot of people are gonna be disappointed when Jesus comes back. It's the truth, you can't hide your head in the dirt forever.

If they were grinding children in to the dust, you could expect to see me far more enraged than I am. However, they aren't. They're using a skin tissue sample from an aborted child to make a beauty cream. Detestable? Sure, I can see that. However, it's not the morally apocalyptic scenario that you're screaming from the rooftops about.

My head isn't in the sand, because I actually bothered to read the article. Again, it would behoove you to do so.

I... Think the act of abortion is wrong; I think it is wrong for a Christian to 'support' this use of human tissue, only because it encourages the act of abortion itself in some cases. If this were a world where young girls weren't looking for excuses to abort their unexpected pregnancy, then this may be a different matter. But the one thing you want to hear when you are in a tough spot is support in either direction of the matter. If abortions were illegal and only the ones that were aborted for health reasons were used for this, it'd be easier to accept in some ways... But I cannot imagine putting that cream on my face. Bleh. I just can't see God enjoying the thought of his chosen ones rubbing their unborn young(Alive or Not), or even parts, on anyone's face. It disturbs me on many levels. o.O

Although there is a part of me that would love all things of this nature to be used for some good in this world... My concern is only how the Lord feels about this. His opinion becomes my opinion.

If it had to be this way, I hope that it at least helped many people.

But it's still clearly wrong! CLEARLY!
