I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, so please move it to it's proper home if it isn't mods. smile.gif

I don't know if anybody's heard this poem, but it made me tear up when I read it and I wanted to share it.

Footprints in the Sand

One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord. Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.

In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand. Sometimes there were two sets of footprints, other times there was one only.

This bothered me because I noticed that during the low periods of my life, when I was suffering from anguish, sorrow or defeat, I could see only one set of footprints, so I said to the Lord,

“You promised me Lord,
that if I followed you, you would walk with me always. But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life there has only been one set of footprints in the sand. Why, when I needed you most, have you not been there for me?”

The Lord replied, “The years when you have seen only one set of footprints, my child, is when I carried you.”

Wow, this must be one of the most recycled piece of Christian lit ever.

(not that this is a bad thing)

Oh yeah! I remember this! smile.gif Truly amazing in fact. Whoever wrote this for the first time ever, kudos for him/her.
This surely explains it all. The Lord is always present; if we can't see Him is just because we don't want to.

I guess that one of the perks of being a new Christian is the fact that all of the "old" stuff is still new and exciting to you. lol

Oh cool! smile.gif

The site I discovered the poem on had three different versions. Sorry, I really should have posted all of them, but I liked this version the best for some reason.

Actually, I've more than heard of it. I have a longer version of it hung on my wall and a necklace that says "...IT WAS THEN THAT I CARRIED YOU..." that never leaves my neck.

Been there. Felt that.

Today, I do my best to help carry others by example with His strength and guidance--one day at a time. One person at a time.

I love this poem!
My grandmother always had it on her refrigerator, I remember admiring it as a little girl. biggrin.gif

But now my grandmother doesn't have to just read a poem, she's with Jesus now.

I apologize if this has been posted before on this forum. But this past week I saw this at my placement for the first time in the kitchen and I thought it was a great poem.
--------------------------------------------------------------

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed He was walking along the beach with the LORD. Across the sky flashed scenes from His life. For each scene He noticed two sets of footprints in the sand. One belonging to Him and the other to the LORD.

When the last scene of His life flashed before Him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of His life there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times of His life.

This really bothered Him and He questioned the LORD about it. LORD you said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why when I needed you most you would leave me.

The LORD replied, my precious, precious child, I Love you and I would never leave you! During your times of trial and suffering when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.
