Caution: if you are a new Christian or new to the word just don't worry about this topic or the book of Enoch. Read the bible first.

I know there are other topics on this but the search is terrible on this site and I couldn't find any so I made this new thread. First of all I was always against the book of Enoch because it spoke of the Giants or nephylim in Genesis 6 as being fallen angels that mated with women, but I couldn't get over the fact that 2 Peter and Jude clearly references the book of Enoch so I read a lot of it today and I was AMAZED!

It really is amazing. A lot of it is very Christian. Starting in chapter 48 it starts talking about the Son of Man who is undoubtedly Jesus. The book of Enoch talks A LOT about Jesus.

If you've read the whole bible then you will notice a lot of similarities. Everyone that saw God or was taken to heaven in the bible saw of a lot of the same things. Enoch's visions are very similar. He describes God and heaven so amazingly and so similarly with other people in the bible. It is both wonderful and terrifying!

There are so many things that are similar, but of course I didn't write them all down as I was reading. Here's a few.

Heb 1:7 And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.

In the book of Enoch he said that he in Heaven saw angels as flames of fire that would take the appearance of men.

It talks a lot about hell and heaven and the eternal punishment of the wicked and the eternal blessing of the righteous and especially the eternal punishment of the fallen angels.

It talks about the martyrs and their reward and the vengeance that God will pour out on their persecutors just like Revelations does. In fact it is like reading Revelations basically.

I don't recommend reading it if you haven't already read the whole bible, but if you already have then it's interesting to read. After reading it, it has given me a real fear of God and a much greater desire to be one of those righteous and possibly a better understanding about God and Jesus. If you do read it start with chapter 48-60 because they talk about Jesus and then start the book at the beginning.

Any thoughts?
