QUOTE(Skywatcher @ Feb 18 2008, 02:46 PM) Hmm...does it still have a really ugly UI? Nope. They've got a new "Bento" skin, and it's fully skinnable and customizable if you don't like it. |

Well, you can encode to mp3 from other filetypes, but you probably shouldn't - whether it's with WinAmp or any other actual media player. Media players, after all, tend to be designed primarily for playing media rather than encoding it. I recommend EAC using the LAME 3.97 mp3 encoder for actual ripping and/or encoding.

^I know, isn't it?
I used to really dislike it, too (mostly because of the awful/ugly UI), but I have to admit that I've pretty much fallen in love with the Bento update. |

Indeed. It is so much more...accomplished now. A real all-round media program...that looks great!
Thank you for convincing me. |

I am curious. What do we think about actually embedding the CTF radio ticker into the site itself? I'm sure it can be done...I think that'll be quite nifty, actually. Although there is then the problem of it resetting itself upon loading every new page. *ponders*

Maybe...if you had a link near the top that would open the player in a separate, small window? Kinda like how band websites let you open mini-players of their music?

^I actually think it'd be pretty cool if Syphon could code that in. I don't think we're able to embed HTML in this part of the forum, though, are we?
Then there is the problem of it being member radio, too - meaning that it will play what everyone listens to, and the only way to censor it is for individual listeners to ban or skip individual tracks. For example, say that while I'm listening to the CTF radio, I hear a song by...oh, say, Godsmack, Children of Bodom, or the like (I'm sure we've got our metalheads here). I can ban that song for me if I don't want to listen to it, but that will only ban it for me, not for everyone who listens to the radio station. Do you kinda see where I'm going with this? What we could do, on the other hand...I've seen other sites set up a WinAmp Remote radio station, and ask individual members to DJ. If we did that, I'd be more than willing to contribute. When I first thought of this whole thing, I was honestly only thinking of in a social network sense - like Myspace, Facebook, etc, except for the more musically minded among us. WinAmp remote would be much more feasible for an "official" CTF radio station. Plus, it would already have an extremely extensive playlist prepared to carry it through those awkward growing pains before we got members really willing and able to DJ in the form of my music library. |

QUOTE ^I actually think it'd be pretty cool if Syphon could code that in. I don't think we're able to embed HTML in this part of the forum, though, are we? It'd be very easy to do, actually. Its a PHP template. And the menu at the top is an addon already. It'd be easy to open up the template's index file, and add the needed code. (it's be a 100% width table, with a link, simple). -- As for the whole radio station thing, its a neat idea. But it'll be hard to get all the networking put together. |

Get more people to join, then - keep in mind that the charts are based on how many people are listening to given artists, songs, or albums, rather than how many times the artists, songs, or albums are listened to.
