Should we legalize marijuana?

No. Whatever good it would do for medical purposes, it would do more harm. Most would become addicted to it.

Marijuana produces fibers which are ideal for ropes, cloth, paper, and dozens of other products. The fiber is unusually strong, soft, absorbent and cheap to produce.

If we grew marijuana solely for paper production, we could completely eliminate cutting forests for paper.

Marijuana can produce several different kinds of fuel

The best analysis done to date by any Federal official shows that "legalization" of the now illegal drugs would result in a net $37 Billion annual savings. This estimate is considered conservative.

In Britain, official government statistics listed five deaths from cannabis in the period 1993-1995 but on closer examination these proved to have been deaths due to inhalation of vomit that could not be directly attributed to cannabis Even more WOW

I have to say no, we have plenty of other resourses to do what it can do. It ruins peoples lives, I'm related to people who it has ruined their lives. It's not fun to be around them....Plus using it for medical purposes can cause them to become addicted to it...It's not healthy it's not safe....My school is a major maryjuana school, it's sad you just want to smack people and make them realize how stupid they look and how uncool it is to do that....No it shouldn't be legalized...It's dumb stupid and pointless....

What about using marijuana for fuel for our cars or how about paper and elimate cutting down forests for paper??? or making products from its fibers???

I know that. Can you imagine how the numbers of death going sky-high and hitting the roof if we dared legalized this very deadly drug? That would be a trechory(sp).

Marajuana is not addictive at all...
According to recents tests caffiene is more addictive than weed. Take this from me, its not addictive. Iv been smoking it since I was 14, I'm now 19 & I can smoke it when i feel like it & I can go 6mts without feeling like I need it.

Wedd causes no more harm than tobacco, so if you smoke anyway weed wouldnt really make a difference.

however, if its bad quality it's sometimes mixed with other drugs that can be addictive. But weed its self is in no way addictive. I should know!!!

Why don't you tell my family that it isn't? Those that will die that it isn't. Anything is addictive to certain people. The problem is, we don't know who it is addictive to unless they try it first. I know that from personal experience and wise teachers.

The only way it can be addictive is if the smoker thinks it is, if he convinces himself that it is, but in no way will anyones body possibly crave for more, becase it simply is not addictive to the body. It is impossible for the body to crave it, only possible for the mind to crave it but thats all down to the smoker & if he thinks it is or not.
Go on, arue with thousdands of scientists & the people that actually smoke it.
Also, no one wil ldie from smoking weed.
& yes I will tell your family that, give me their e-mail addys & ill do it right away.

I say no on the issue of making it legal and I will say no more on that fact. It's my opinion and I am intitled to it w/o having to be harrassed for it, which is how I feel at the moment whether or not it is meant. I'm sorry to have caused such division here. 'Twas not my idea nor my plan.

I believe it should be used for medical purposes only. Weed can make you high, which will affect your brains response to anything; that includes your adrenal glands ability to make epinephrine in the time of need. Although it can be used as an anestesia (sp) during medical procedures such as surgery.

I'm afraid your wrong. Even cigarettes have filters on them. Smoking marijuana is between four and seven times more harmful than smoking a cigarette. I'll post more on the subject later.

I say only for medical purposes. However I would support any alternative methods of treatment over marijuana

Assuming that we're debating based on Christian ethics/morals (as mandated by the rules) I would say that smoking marijuana, as well as legalizing it, would be in violation of 1 Corinthians 3:16 and 6:19. There are few (if any) things that marijuana can do that can't be done with other drugs anyway.
