So how is your College's Food?

NNU has some great food in the Dex (that's our Caf) and there's always cereal if you want that instead. Strangely enough I'm avoiding the freshman 15 so far. I'm actually losing weight (down one pant size. Yay).

So tell us about your College's Food.

My community college has really good food. Mmmmm, so good. I normally get the crispy chicken salads. Tasty.

EU has pretty good food overall. The Joust (part of the SU) has excellent salads, soups, pizza, and specials. The Caf is usually pretty good. They pressure cook their meats, so with the occasional exception of some types of pork and chicken, the meat is VERY tender. Wonderful stuff. Sometimes the pasta can be a bit dry or whatnot, but its usually very good.

I'd take some points off because they use weird generic foodservice versions of ranch dressing (no Hidden Valley!), and because the food is sometimes bland. Thankfully they offer a spice rack, plus salt and pepper.

Honestly, they have better food here than I ever expected. Almost as good as the cafeteria food in my old HS (and that's a compliment).

Some people disagree with me. Perhaps that's personal taste, or maybe I'm just not as picky as they are.

Oh well! Bon Appetit!

Haha, not QUITE as bad as I make it sound, but it's pretty bad...and students that have been here a couple years say that it's gourmet compared to what they had 2-3 years ago....and I'm not a picky eater in any way!!

Ours is usually pretty good. We have a food court type thing, and we also have an all you-can-eat dining room. The dining room tends to be a bit iffy though. Sometimes it's really good, sometimes really gross. Their weekend breakfasts are amazing though.

Ours is decent.... Were right on the gulf in Galvy so lots of fresh fish which makes me happy! Its gross on the weekend though.... guess its cause most people go home so on the weekends I cook.

Question

Is it still a grilled cheese sandwich if you microwave it?

I live in a co-op and we have our own cook. The food is amazing, and most of the time it's pretty healthy. My favorite is the (homemade) hummus, pita and grilled veggies. And our food bill is surprising not outrageously high, considering we also have to pay for the cook's wages as well.

Dawson college is linked to a big mall on the metro level, plus its right by St. Catherines street so noone really uses the caf that often.

For some added energy I usually go to Thai Express, "Nouilles U & Me" or Station de Sports but if I'm really in a rush I go to this Hole in the wall Labanese resto where they have some awesome falafel for 1$.

Depending on what you like, our food is actually really good. Our caf hired this professional chef and he is absolutely amazing. I sometimes wish I lived in the dorms still so I could eat there all the time.

I haven't bought anything from our cafeteria but from what I saw, everything looked pretty good. A bit expensive though.

I would have to disagree. haha. The quality of food is largely dependent on location. I find that meat in the cafeteria is a no-go zone. So I stick to the other eateries around campus for sustenance. tongue.gif I LOVE the chicken quesadillas. biggrin.gif

Its either been your College's homecoming weekend (or week) and you know what that means! Better food!

How was the food during your homecoming? Or if your school hasn't had it yet, are you expecting higher quality food?

We had pretty good food compared to what we usually have during this homecoming weekend. I hope Brunch is good this morning too.

Actually, I found this thought running through my mind. At ours, if we want food, we to go the snack machines or to whatever "fast food" resturants are nearby. I usually walk to the little store that's next to our building.

BEST restaurant near school = Nilufar. Cheap, ridiculously delicious lebanese food a short walk away from class. smile.gif This is where I will be going for the rest of my education.
