Well everyone,

Christian Teen Forums is about to roll into 2009. It’s funny, I look back when I started this site as just a place for a couple of my friends to hang out and chat on (two of which are still here,~ Jessica~ and Sephiroth) and realize I never thought the site would still be going and be where it is at today!

CTF is what it is today because of our members. We have had some hard times over this past year and also some fun times. We have seen different changes take place and seen members come and go. This past year CTF had its 5 year birthday and hopes to continue to see more years to come.

God really has blessed CTF with a great group of members. We have a very diverse group from different countries, age ranges and genders. Although sometimes we may have are little issues with each other, we come together as a group and are able to continue to get along and run a strong tight online community. Many members know each other on a first name basis and have become best of friends. Some of our members have meet their significant others on CTF.

In 2008 God blessed CTF with all these things and I pray that in 2009 we will work in Gods will and continue to serve him and his kingdom though CTF.

Dave (Spiderman) and I have been talking about what we can offer to our members in 2009. Some things we are currently working are as follows:

Faster Approval of Posts for Newbies – We will work on developing better ways to approve the posts for newbies faster than we have in the past. We have a couple of tools and methods that we will be implementing in the first quarter of the year to make this possible.

Faster Load Times – CTF already loads at a decent speed however the advertisements on our page often slow the page load time way down. We will work to develop new code to keep the load time on the ads now so that you can better experience CTF.

Better Advertisements – Currently we get our advertisements from two sources. These sources choose the ads that will be displayed on our site and they are not always the best for a Christian Teen website. I am currently working on a new system to deliver our ads and hope to have more control over the ads that appear on our site. Also in 2009, we will look for sponsorships that may allow us to run Ad free greatly increasing the enjoyment of CTF.

More Content and a Wiki – We have plans in place to add more content to CTF. We are not sure exactly what will be added but we are thinking about adding a Wiki, Devotionals and Youth Ministry tools.

We need your opinions and ideas on what CTF can do in 2009 to better serve you, the members. Please reply to this thread or post your suggestions in the comments and suggestions section on the forum. We look forward to a great 2009 here at CTF

God Bless and HAPPY NEW YEARS!!!

I'm really pleased with the progress that was made in 2008. I think that CTF as whole made some major growth. Not only member and activity wise but also spiritual and maturity wise. I think that even though some not so great decisions were made (in my opinion) a lot of good ones were made to even out the balances.

A new theme would be awesome.

I would be really happy to see the snow flakes go away.

That said there are a few things that I would like to address that I see CTF in great need of.

1) We need a mission statement. What is the purpose of CTF, plain and simple.
2) Where is that privacy policy again? Why doesn't the menu link to it?
3) What is the "Media Kit" ? Get this fixed as well!
4) The "Contact Us" doesn't work either.
5) There was once talk of a "ban appeal form". Why isn't this available somewhere if it does exist? If it doesn't perhaps it needs to be created.

Note: I can post all of the above in the "Suggestions & Gripes" section if need be.

QUOTE
The rules have been recently updated by Huw and I. Condensed, refined, etc. so they make more sense; don't repeat themselves. We'd be open to anyone suggesting a change/addition in places. But they'd have to show they were competent enough to follow them first.

I'm so glad you guys are catching up to the updates I proposed to the rules about 6 months ago. *heart warms*

--

That's about all I have to say for 2008. I'm glad that we've done some growing up and we're moving forward. Bring on 2009!

The last two topics are pinned in the "Forum Information and News" forum. We could link them somewhere else, I guess.

There very much is a ban appeal form and has been for quite some time. It's emailed to a member when they get banned.

Is there a reason that it isn't available for unbanned people?

How about a page on CTF etiquette? You could put in here some of the things that you can't put into the rules because they're just loose guidelines (such as 50 fullstops after every sentence isn't necessary, and endlessly bumping your dead topic). Just to help out the newbies and stop everyone else from going a little crazy from those sorts of things.
Also, maybe if the graphics team could make a basic thing on how to make your own siggy/avvy for all those who know what they want, and want to make it themselves, but don't know how.

Just some ideas.

Would probably fit well on the possible-to-be wiki.

Okay, I have added the Mission Statement to the link of About us...and made the Privacy Policy actually goto the right spot. As for the Contact Us and Media Kit... Those will be added in the near future.

No one needs a ban appeal form unless they have been banned. What would they do with it?

To be entirely honest, I just want to read the thing and see what it says and what's involved with submitting it. Why does it have to be some secretive impossible to come by thing? It aught to be a public document.

PS: Tatty000 asked me the other day on MSN to have his ban looked into. I could send him the ban appeal form if I had it.

So that before you pull off your great heist on CTF, you can have your ban appeal form all filled out and edited, in case you get caught so that you have more time to plan your excuse as to why it wasn't you who did it.

The ban appeal form is a private document because we are the ones handling the bans. If a member wants to be unbanned, it is the staffs discretion, not the members, whether they have right to appeal. I'd much rather people who deserved the ban not send me fifty emails about why they should be allowed back. I will not, and will not be in the future making this available.

Good catch there Heather.

Yes, I would like to get started on this wikki sometime soon. Perhaps we can set up a forum group to begin discussing what content will go in, how it will be organized and what sort of standards we want to set up. We can do that while we're waiting for Chris to get around to installing the app and setting things up.

How about a Statement of Fundamental Beliefs--from a Biblical Perspective, as this is a Christian Teen Forum? It may help settle a LOT of disputes here. (Fundamentals means Fundamentals--Way of Salvation, Deity of Christ, Infallibility, all that good stuff).
