Hi guys, I've decided to go to a DTS after i graduate this year. DTSs are run by YWAM (Youth With A Mission) all over the world. There are many types of DTSs, some focussed on different areas and some unfocussed. The typical DTS has an 11-12 week classroom phase, including bible studies and how to better live your life for Christ. Followed by that is usually a 12 week mission trip to one of many possible places.
My old youth pastor said that he doesn't know a single person who's gone and regretted it. One of the staff from our mission trip in the Dominican Republic said that he spent 4 years in university learning about business. He then went to DTS and realized he doesn't want to do anything with business.

Is anyone else here interested in it? Has anyone done it or is anyone in it?

For those interested here are some links from the YWAM site. Their description, purpose and average curriculum. Here are some quotes about them and a DTS location search engine.
Hope you guys enjoy smile.gif

What base are you going through?

I've been to the YWAM San Francisco base twice for Mission Adventures, and almost did a Summer of Service with them this past summer. I will most likely do a DTS within the next year or two, but I'm not sure where yet.

My friend just left to go to DTS in Orlando. She'll be going to some African country in a couple months! She loves it so far.

I haven't looked too much into this particular program, but the idea is really awesome.

I've been trying to decide for months if I should go to one. I think it sounds awesome, I just don't know if now's the right time (long story rolleyes.gif ). Anyway, I toured the Base in Belle Vernon, Pa. this past summer. It was pretty cool. But just two weeks ago, I went on a mission trip with my church and we stayed at the Metro base in New York. It was a really nice base. I liked it there alot. They use to do a performing arts DTS, but they haven't done one in awhile. For me being a dancer, that would've been perfect. I'll have to look up if any other bases do that. Do you know if the DTS classes have alot of people out there? Oh, I also heard from my youth leaders who have done DTS that they've loved it and would go a second time if they could.
