a devotional i got on facebook. its true that God helps you to have courage. He truely did help me and continues to help me to fight anxiety issues

And the Spirit of the LORD will come upon thee, and thou shalt prophesy with them, and shalt be turned into another man (1 Samuel 10:6).

Something wonderful happens when you receive the Holy Spirit; He makes you bold and courageous! If you look through the Bible, you’ll find this trend in the lives of all those who had an encounter with Him. Even if they were timid and unstable at the beginning, the moment the Holy Spirit came into their lives, they became bold and courageous! Now, to be courageous means to be willing to undertake or seek out new and daring enterprises. It means to step out of your “comfort zone” and do the things the Lord wants you to do.

This is what happened to Saul in the opening Scripture; when the Spirit came upon him, he began to prophesy, which was something he hadn’t done before. After the Lord Jesus ascended to heaven, all the disciples were quietly assembled in an upper room in fear (Acts 1:13). But when the Holy Spirit came upon them, they threw the doors open (Acts 2). Peter, who had been calm and quiet, and out of fear denied Jesus before a young girl, preached boldly and led about 3000 souls to Christ in one meeting. From that point on, they became bold and adventurous with the gospel, healing the sick, casting out devils and shaking up the whole land with the power of God.

There’s one thing I know for sure: If you’ve received the Holy Spirit and you’re not bold, courageous and adventurous for Him, chances are you’re not listening to Him! He doesn’t come into your life to reside there quietly till you go to heaven; He makes you reach out and go beyond the limits! He makes you an agent of change. He makes you venture out and win for Jesus!

So reject timidity and fear in your life; put your best foot forward and trust Him to do something new and exciting in your life!

Confession

The Holy Spirit dwells in me; therefore I am bold and courageous! I’m full of might even by the Spirit of the Lord! I can do all things through the working of His power that functions in me mightily. There’s no fear or timidity in me for I know who I am; I have power to tread on snakes and scorpions and over all the powers of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt me.

Further Study

2 Samuel 22:29-30
For thou art my lamp, O LORD: and the LORD will lighten my darkness.
For by thee I have run through a troop: by my God have I leaped over a wall.

2 Samuel 22:33-35
God is my strength and power: and he maketh my way perfect.
He maketh my feet like hinds' feet: and setteth me upon my high places.
He teacheth my hands to war; so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms.

Thanks for the Holy Spirit post as He is the source of burning inspiration.

"One small act of obedience to God can sometimes cause us to make more progress spiritually than years of effort according to our own plans. Fidelity to small graces draws down bigger ones."--In the School of the Holy Spirit, Jacques Phillippe
