Theres nothing wrong with the path I'm going down. I go to church twice a week, I'm studying to become a teacher and have one more year to go before i'll have a career teaching. I'm doing very well in school, my faith in God has brought me so much good. God seems to give and give and then just keep giving. And yet I feel guilty, I feel like if I was to die today I would not go to heaven. I just dont know why I always have this feeling of guilt like I'm not good enough or worthy enough. I know the Bible, I know what it says but still I feel like even though I am saved and I'm doing my best that I'm just not good enough.

I always feel like I should be dedicating the majority of my life to my Church and to Jesus Christ, I am doing well with dedicating much time to reading my Bible and going to chuch and also balancing that with school. So I dont get what the problem is here, I see pastors and people who do missions but I dont have time for that, especially with my family wanting me to go get a job and all that. So I feel as if I'm missing something, like I'm not doing what God wants me to. Then again I dont know if I'm just being foolish.

What should I do about my constant guilt?

Have you ever had a born again experience? Have you ever felt the burden of sin roll of your back?

Good works won't save you.

Bring these exact same concerns of yours to God.

Seek God with all of your heart.

Pray with all your might.

And put your faith exclusively in Christ and the cross.

When you do don't dwell on yourself and the seemingly impossibility of being free from guilt

Give your guilt to God.

Give yourself to God.

Receive forgiveness by putting your faith in what Christ has done on the cross and the goodness of God.

Do this by praying to God with all your heart and believing with all your heart that Jesus Christ has paid your sin debt with His own blood.

Ask Him to wash you and cleanse you in His blood.

Put your faith in the blood of Jesus.

Maybe this message will help you.

http://www.imeem.com/people/N4Il-ZA/music/...leaves-wont-do/

Love you and praying for you.

Thanks for the reply and the prayer, I do know God though. I have accepted Jesus Christ and I will say this as humbly as possible but I do know the Bible very well and understand how one is saved.

My problem however is I always feel guilty, like I'm not doing all I coud be doing as a Christian even though I think I am. I go to Church regularly, I read my Bible all the time and pray to God consistantly. I thought maybe there would be some Christians on this board who have dealt with guilt as I have and were able to over come it.

Ronald. You have posted the thread I have been wanting to post. I feel the exact same way, and have been lately!!
It's like lol, I'm doing everything wrong.
There are things inside of me I can't overcome, and it hinders the connection between me and God.
Seems like I'm not doing enough for him, when I fight every second to try and please him, and obey Him.
I kinda feel empty sometimes.
It's like, I need more of Him.
Sometimes I wonder if Im doing things right....

Wow Ronald, we are in the same boat.
I think God is going to give us our breakthrough soon.

It seems like I'm a Daniel or Jeremiah, but at the same time the worst sinner on Earth.

At some time or another everyone in their Christian faith will have doubts.
This is a normal thing to experience and I myself feel it at times. Just remember that God loves you very much and has no reason to make you feel that you are not good enough.

However, if you are feeling guilty like you have done something wrong and are holding it in/back then that is a different case smile.gif
In the meantime, keep praying! Hang tight,

Well I guess there is a healthy sense that we need to grow or do more that we should all have, but we shouldn't be in condemnation.

Romans 8:1 - There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Like ho3t said hopefully God will give you a breakthrough soon to where you will feel from from guilt but yet also have a a hunger and feel a need to do more and grow closer to God.

I too, feel as if I could be doing more. I go to church, attend Bible study, I read my Bible, and other books by Ellen White. I still feel like nothing matters, except sharing out faith, and our walk with God. I feel guilt when i purchase something. That money could've been going toward a mission. And every second I waste doing something, I could be preaching to others. Its like a huge burden. Like nothing matters, except relationships with others, and God. Nothing will be brought into Heaven.

So, what I sense from your message is you feel like you're not doing enough to please God. I'm sure we've all heard that our feelings are inconsistent and fragile, so I won't give you the whole "DON'T LIVE ON YOUR FEELINGS!!!!!" thing. Rather, I'll give you scripture that tells us how to live a life that is pleasing to God:

"And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbor as thyself." Luke 10:27

"And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers." Acts 2:42

"Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world." James 1:27

It's possible that God wants you to do something that you've missed, just as well as it's possible you're doing everything you can. I nor any human can give you the answer which you seek. You're going to have to get alone with God, and receive his word with all meekness to get the most out of it. Examine your heart as David did; that's a very healthy habbit to pick up.

The scriptures I've provided all have to do with the condition of our hearts. The person who loves God with all of his heart, soul, strength and mind, and his neighbor as himself, will continue in the faith he's received, and make sacrifices for the benefit of others and, most importantly, for God's glory. Be a well of water springing up into everlasting life, as in John 4:14.

I have struggled with this as well, and although I'm still in process, maybe I can share something that has helped me. For me it came down to the fact that my head view and my hear view of God are not the same. Because of abuse in my past, even though I "know" that God is Love, that he will never leave me or forsake me, etc, my heart still sometimes doubts these things. This is something I wrote, maybe a year or so ago:

Read James 4:1-10

Humble: (G5011) humiliated (in circumstances or disposition): - base, cast down, humble, of low degree (estate), lowly.

1) not rising far from the ground
2) metaphorically
2a) as a condition, lowly, of low degree
2b) brought low with grief, depressed
2c) lowly in spirit, humble
2d) in a bad sense, deporting one’s self abjectly, deferring servilely to others (This is not the meaning here. This is shame, see notes below)

Resits: (G498)
1) to range in battle against
2) to oppose one’s self, resist

Proud:
1) showing one’s self above others, overtopping, conspicuous above others, pre-eminent
2) with an overweening estimate of one’s means or merits, despising others or even treating them with contempt, haughty

Shame is wounded pride. Shame say's that we are not good enough. This implies we can be good enough, and we should be good enough. Shame is wounded pride, and God resists the proud. I am set free of shame, God has given me grace that I might see His face.

Just as it has been written, "Look! I place in Zion a stone of stumbling and a rock of offence; and every one believing on [or, trusting in] Him will not put to shame." [Isaiah 8:14; 28:16]
(Romans 9:33)

For the sorrow that is according to the will of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation, but the sorrow of the world produces death.
(2 Corinthians 7:10 NASB)

There is a humbleness of God, and a shame not of God. They seem similar on the surface, but are vastly different. The shame from God shows us our depravity and reliance upon him. It leads us to trust in him, for we realize that without him we are nothing.

Shame of the devil condemns us as not being worthy of God's love. (The power in this is the partial truth in the lie-we are not worthy, but we cannot make ourselves worthy either.) It is the wounded pride, and leads us to try and become worthy. Thus shame can also be linked to perfectionism or a performance mentality.

But the grace of God is that we are not worthy, and never can be, yet He saved us while we were still in our sins.

Guys, you list off the things you do. You say you pray and go to Church and read your bibles, but my friends, what are you doing to further the Kingdom? What are you doing?

There are still those who go without food. There are still those who go without comfort. There are still those who go without Jesus's love. I know that reading and praying and community are important, and I know that good works are not what saves, but they are what we are supposed to be doing on this earth. We are called to preach the gospel at all times and if nessicary use words. I'm not saying I'm perfect, and I'm not saying that I don't get the same anxious feeling that I am not doing enough (because sometimes I feel as though I'm not), but I do my best to give back with my time if it's helping tutor kids or being a teen leader at church or even just listening to a friend. It's what you do to spread his message, not what you do to seem rightous.

maybe you aren't doing enough. haha. i know that sucks to hear but i don't know. we're kinda supposed to be failures in a way and we deal with it but we always fight against it.

the bible says it's a real blessing to give. whens the last time you did something for someone else? how did that feel? i mean, you listed bible reading and praying and going to church but loving god is a lot about loving people too, right? so you're on the right track i guess. but i don't see why you would feel any kind of guilty if you were out loving people: helping kids with school, doing your parents favors, and other stuff zabby was talking about. she sounds like she's got it right.

i dunno. that's my guess.

Sometimes as Christians we feel like although we are living a life for Christ we still feel like we are not living for Him. Guilt is very common among all Christians to over come Guilt we can give our Guilt to God and let him set us free from it. When you pray ask Him to take away your guilt and He will take it away.

I'm feeling the same way too.
Got an idea: Let's create a group and hold ourselves accountable to sticking to the Lord through and through.
Does that sound like a winner?

And of course you can also glorify God in those activities which are done for yourself. I took a test at the Driver's License Center today, and I had the opportunity to glorify God for passing the test. I didn't initially plan on saying anything because these people have jobs and they need to focus, but the employee's computer began having problems, so I figured God was giving me a bit longer to say something for Him. I jokingly commented that I was frightened to death during the test because I was so sleepy and, after a pretty good start, I had a period where I made a few mistakes and started wondering if I would pass. I told her that I owed my passing grade to God, and though she turned out to be a believer as well, that was a small thing that helped me to grow in my walk.

I say that not to boast but merely to give an example that it isn't always necessary to blurt out deep theology to point to Jesus, but a small word can plant seeds. God may bring that to her memory the next time she's faced with a problem and needs prayer, who knows? I also believe that if we're obedient in small matters such as that then we'll be blessed with more boldness in times when we really need to take a stand for Christ.

And when that list gets started, sign up if you wish to carry this out.
