So. I was in Electronics class today, which is full of guys (me being the only girl) and the teacher said to me, "In the whole 70ish people taking electronics, you are the only girl".

Now, I kinda like that fact I am the only girl, the teachers remember who you are, and its also alot more satisfying when I can do something a guy cant.

So what do you girls thing about girls doing 'guy things' and what 'guy things' do you do?

It's kinda not fair for the guys.

I mean, girls can play hockey, repair mechanical stuff, dress like boys and do 'guy things' without their sexual orientation being questioned--Guys, on the other hand, are teased for being gay if they do things like dance or design or make-up artistry.

Anywho, I don't do many 'guy things' at all. I'm too girly ;P

I was 1 of 3 girls in a 20ish person class for Java.
Only girl on an online Halo league of a few hundred [it was 1000+ registered; but not everyone was active].
And 1 of 5 girls at a computer camp of 200+ guys [which was interesting, since it was overnight lol].

It's kinda amusing being outnumbered, but whatevers. Lol. You definitely do get special treatment for being female in a guy-dominated field. Which is nice sometimes, but can be annoyingly patronizing as well.

But what's worst is when you're discredited for your work because some people like to believe that since you're a girl, your standards are lower, so that's why you seem to be excelling, when really, you're not. Grrrraaawwrr.

I have an extreme love for the movie and book Fight Club, which apparently is really manly. I guess that's about it. I want to be a science major too which I guess is more of a guy thing but idk.

Last year I was the only girl in my 30-odd computer class, and I know there were two others in the other class.
In my audio engineering class last year there was me and two other girls, then one of them left after eight weeks.
I know more about computers than most of the guys I know.
I like to climb trees tongue.gif

That's about it really, I think.

ahh... hahhaah....
well I guess I am quite fond of computers. I do a bit of programming. I am also very fond of/good at math. Those can be guyish things. I get along well with guys because I follow their thought process pretty well. hahaha. or they follow mine, one or the other.

Also I do quite like climbing trees biggrin.gif

But otherwise I am VERY girly. I love clothes, outfits. And daydreaming about my wedding. Or just the guy i like. I like decorating. And designing. Drawing, painting, everything except dancing (ich. i suck) and makeup >.<

Totally. Sometimes I like that people can remeber who I am ect. But I always seem to get special treatment. Like the rules arent enforced as heavily on me as they are some of the rowdier guys.

Well, I grew up with two older brothers, and no sisters. My mom was girly (once) but then she just kind of embraced her extreme tomboy-ness. So I was born girly, but really had no one else to 'look up to' or to fuel my feminine tastes. Eventually, I came to like the same things my brothers liked. Sports, video games, baggy clothes, darker colors, beating up each other, running around in the woods, and just generally getting dirty-yet some things I just never let go of. My extreme love for adorable things, bright neon-y colors, skirts, teen novels, my fear of insects, and my love of cosmetology.

When I lived in new york, I acted more guy-ish when I was out late at night, so that people would be less likely to approach me. I was always extremely paranoid coming home from college in the evening o_o. I would, literally, fly down the street, convincing myself that someone was lurking behind me in the shadows. So, truth be told, sometimes I act tough and other times I'm cowering behind someone in an attempt to save my own hide.

It depends on what definition of "feminine" we are relying on. If you mean the pink squealing valley-girl fashionista who relies solely on emotions... then those would be quite alien to me. The women in my family always taught the girls to be tough, level-headed and hardworking, but do "feminine" tasks (cooking and such) and dress as a female.

Lets see. I have worked in a pre-19th century blacksmith forge (I missed this year due to illness), I love horror films, other metal-working (silver and copper), and pyrotechnics. I am fairly sure the left half of my brain is the only functioning side.

So many times I don`t feel like a female when talking with non-family women/girls. I have had my sexuality questioned due to this as well. I hate it. Because I don`t have flighty and fluffy interests, people usually see me as masculine and/or a lesbian. I have a very low voice, which doesn`t help.

Argh Rave I feel for you.
I have my sexuality questioned quite alot when Im in electronics class. It bugs me no end.
Like you dont have be a 'pink, squealing, valley-girl fashionista' (lol) to be a woman. Some of the most awesome females I know ride motorcylces and get tattoos ect. Like real manly stuff.

But while were talking about guys doing 'female things', One of our members Peter (cant remeber how to spell his username) is training to be a nurse. Props to him.

Haha. I edited that because I thought someone might get offended off it. I`ll change it back since a mod thought it was ok. laugh.gif

Tis annoying, isn`t it? That is one of the main reasons I have lower self-esteem than I should. See, I went to an all-girls school, so I was surrounded by people who thought I was really weird. Luckily I made friends; I just didn`t understand them. Haha.

While I was in the hospital, most of the nurses were men. Hmm. Male nurses can be quite beastly.

Hmmm... I don't have that many extracurricular activities, but let's see...

*Romantic chick flicks need to die. Seriously. They are perhaps the vilest sort of movie in existence... *shudders*
*At my friends' youth group, I'm the only girl who can semi-wakeboard.
*If there's a game to be played, most girls (usually wherever I go) sit on the sidelines to watch the "cute boys" play. I just play the game, for heavens sake! tongue.gif Even if I'm terrible at it.
*Action/"manly" movies are probably the best. I would say I like horror, but I don't think seen anything that could be counted as true horror yet.
*I have yet to grasp the insane concept of paying through your ears for brand name clothing.
*I will not squeal and complain about how gross I am if I get dirty/muddy while playing a game.

I think that's about it...

I love doing "guy" things! And I am girly too, so yeah.

1. Anything that is considered construction I love. I love woodwork and building things with my dad
2. Guns and hunting appeal to me. I'd love to get my hunting license. I need to learn gun safety and all that jazz. Bass Pro Shops is amazing.
3. I am not afraid to get dirty, break a nail, get dirt under the broken nail, get cut, bleed or the other "gross" things that girly girls loath.
4. Sweat is the reward of working hard
5. Very competitive and I love sports

Let's see... well, last year I was in Electronics class as well, and we were soldering a circuit, and this guy saw me doing a good job on mine and asked me to do it for him xD But I didn't.

Also, I LOVE shows like The Simpsons, which very few girls seem to like in my school, and I LOVE horror/sci-fi movies that only the guys in my grade like to watch.

And! Maybe this isn't too guy-ish, but I'm a total Watchmen fan.

The girls in my grade are all girly and Taylor Swift-y, so I always come out as a tomboy compared to them... rolleyes.gif

Although if you know me, you know I'm not much better, as I still listen to Superchick, as Maia knows and loathes. XD Still, you've got to give me points for not falling head over heels for Taylor Swift/Demi Levato/Jo bros "music", as so many girls my age have... rolleyes.gif

I have never been described as "girlie" by anyone I've ever met. The idea of me doing anything girlie is humorous to most people. O_o I don't actually TRY to be that way though...I guess I'm just not into the girlie stuff. *shrug*

Even when I was a kid....I played with dinosaurs and hotwheels...
