Purge my straying heart
Make my life a work of art
Let me be quick to heed your call
And slow to slip and fall

Lord create in me a perfect heart

Lord help me to cling unto you
And by no means shall I be removed
When the pursuer knocks on my door
Help me to declare that I am spoken for

A perfect heart is my desire
Cleanse me with your Holy fire
May the fire not be quenched
Until my soul, your love has singed

Your word do I love and vain thoughts do I hate
Let my future not be marred by sinful mistakes
Centered in your will is where I want to be
But at times I feel like I'm walking on a balance beam

Enlarge the ground and stay my feet
And on your name I will entreat
Flood my thoughts with your everlasting truth
Let me not fall prey to the sins of lustful youth

On your grace I do depend
With the shield of faith I will defend
Your faith in me you have bestowed
I'll tell the world I am betrothed

A holy vow I now do make
To one day see you face to face
And then we will be one
When the battle of this age is done

For one thing my Spirit man pleads
Help me to be righteous in my deeds
Cement my feet in a foundation of truth
And by the winds of deceit I shall not be moved

I seek a calling that is much higher
The need for which is extremely dire
Besetting sins I will cast aside
And in your word I will confide

In a holy garment I wish to be clothed
Pure and spotless, white as snow
Holiness comes from your Spirits flood
And a perfect hearts comes by your blood.

Holy Father, Love Divine
A pure heart comes from the fine
Enduring trials I'll call on you
Dross is purged and gold renewed

In me your image you now will see
And through my trials I will see victory
A perfect heart, tried and true
Devoted only, Lord to you.
