Yep. I was kinda surprised, too. Then I compared them, and noticed a lot of similarities. Interesting, huh?

All members of Sleeping giant were at one time in the band xDEATHSTARx

And apparently, current members are also in the band The Winter War. Who I can't seem to find on iTunes...

Metal-core is just another variation of metal, its the way the music is played, not necessarily how it sounds. Though it does kind of irk me when people call metal-core metal, but that's just the generalization of it, and I'm assuming that is why he titled the thread so.

Not in order from most favorite to least, I can never make up my mind. Only 1 (Technically), 3, 4 and 7 are christian.

1. As I Lay Dying
2. Parkway Drive
3. The Devil Wears Prada
4. August Burns Red
5. Lamb of God
6. Pantera
7. Demon Hunter
8. System of a Down

Hm... I don't really listen to metal anymore, but I used to be a pretty harsh critic. I got all worked up everytime I thought someone defined a genre improperly. I was pretty silly.

I listened to Demetori last night. Instrumental Power Metal from Japan. They apparently have an obsession with some game called Touhou, and that game's music is supposed to be the template of their sound. So they pretty much take little melodies from a video game, throw in some wild double-bass drums, and shred over the top of it like a typical power metal band. Never was a huge fan of power metal for its lack of creativity, but it sounded really pretty so I wasn't about to judge it harshly.

No vocals so that helps. So many of this generation just can't write songs, so that ruins music often times. :/

I'm seeing the same bands over and over. Anyways, here is a rough list: (no order)

Wintersun:
From their s/t album. (youtube)

Nokturnal Mortum:
From their album Goat horns. (youtube)

Day of Suffering (vegan metal band):
From their legendary full length. (youtube)

Obtained Enslavement
From their album witchcraft (youtube)

Armagedda
From their EP (youtube)

Frostmoon
From their only full length.

Hahaha namechecking Nokturnal Mortum here of all places is pretty hilarious and amazing. I'm really hoping you're not one of those awful people who actually likes anything after Gates. Since you like Obtained Enslavement I'm guessing you like the whole Taake style in general?

QUOTE (CrimMason @ Oct 7 2009, 10:41 PM) *
6. Nokturnal Mortum (Pre-NSBM)

Just caught this one. When was NM ever NOT NS?
