A new version of forum software has been released. We will be upgrading the software in a couple of weeks once we are done testing it. Here is what to expect:
We will be removing the CTF Battle game We will be removing the Points/CTF Cash system Better profiles that have the ability to set your status Your account can be linked with your Facebook account so that once your logged into Facebook, you do not have to login to CTF and you can set your CTF account to pull your status message and profile picture into you CTF profile. New skin and new layout. Chat will work better. Forums are even faster than the current ones. Blogs will work and will have new features such as an ability to change the header and colors on your blog to make it personalized to you. Personal converstaions. You can create private threads that are visible to only you and anyone else you choose. This makes it so if you want to have a conversation with just a few of your friends but not open it up to all the members, you can. A lot of the features it offers are on the backend. There are many tools for better moderation. For example, when you report a post right now, it emails all the mods and admins and then if one takes care of the problem, nobody else really knows. This new system has a section that all reports will go into and the mods can talk about the report and mark it as solved when they are done with it. Also, this new system allows applications and hooks. These allow me to add new modifications to the site without any code edits. This means its very easy for me to add things and whenever we apply a patch or upgrade, we do not risk losing all the edits I have made. There are a few things we are still waiting on though. Currently, there is no version of the arcade that will work in the new software. We will be waiting till one is available before we make the switch. There is also a few tools that the mods use that are not yet released for the new version that we will also be waiting on. |

These new changes appear to be pretty good; I look forward to experiencing them.
 Except for: QUOTE (Syphon) We will be removing the Points/CTF Cash system Why? I liked that feature, even if there was nothing to actually spend the cash on.

I'll miss the CTF cash, but the rest of the upgrades sound well worth it's loss. I'm a bit uneasy about the "Personal conversations" feature, but we'll just have to see.
Keep up the good work, can't wait to see the new stuff!

Mmmmm... This sounds... Interesting... I guess I'll get used to it. >_< Will we have the option to change back to this current skin once the new skin is added? Also, I liked the CTF Cash, too! This new software is TOTALLY different than this one with the way it is programmed. This means the skin will have to be redesigned. This is one of the reasons it will take some time to launch. I have to load it into a test environment and then learn how its coded compared to the old one then build a skin to work with it. We will see about the personal conversations part. Not sure about it as I have not see how that part works yet. Looking forward to the new IPB, overall. Yes the PM system is completely rebuilt. The entire forums are completely rebuilt. They went above and beyond on this new one. Many vBulletin fanatics are saying they may even make the switch. A lot in the forum industry believe this new software is better than any other one out there feature wise and lack of bug wise. It basically is all Web 2.0 (similar to how the new facebook is all Web 2.0). Also loads super fast which is something I like a lot...takes less strain off the server. |

I don't know. I have an extreme hatred for the iPhone lol (Blackberry FTW) so yeah....not sure how it will work...but I wont let that be the thing that holds us back.
The software is not created by us but by Invision Power. They may or may not have made this work with the iPhone. My guess is until the iPhone catches up with the new technology on the web, you may have to use the low-fi version of the site. |
