Obviously Satan isn't nearly as powerful as God (hence the scheduled Epic Fail) but surely to be a worthy adversary of God, he must be pretty powerful. How far does this power extend? Does he have more power over non-Christians? Is he a purely spiritual being, or does he have a physical form as well as what he passes for a soul? Does he even exist? It would be great if you could give your opinions on this. smile.gif

Satan exists, and he's an evil guy.

Further than that, its speculation.

Satan is powerful in terms of tempting people, deceiving them
and contradicting what God says is right. But he is only as powerful as
you let him be. You have power & authority over him.

1. Satan is a fallen cherub, which is a high class angel and probably very strong, though I do not think he is allowed to personally kill someone.
2. Satan is not necessarily a worthy adversary of God, just a tolerated one.
3. Satan is not to be mocked, as seen when Michael the Archangel wouldn't even bring a railing accusation against him, but rather said "The Lord rebuke you." God has the authority over Satan and Satan must obey what He commands him to do. If God lives in you then you have power over evil spirits through the name of Jesus Christ.

This is worth quoting, if only I hadn't already quoted ZME today. I'm going to have to get someone to do it.

basically, he's a fallen angel, and one of the most powerful.
if we didn't have god, we would have good reason to be scared.
before jesus came, he had authority on earth, but since jesus came all the devil can do is deceive and tempt us.

there are 2 things you must avoid with satan and the demons:
1. forgetting about them entirely (leaves you far more open and vulnerable to sin)
2. making a huge deal about them (can lead you into hopelessness and depression, and even witchcraft if you're not careful)

basically, they are there, and we musn't forget it, but its like we're a mouse, and the devil's a hungry cat, but there's a bear standing between him and us, and the bear's on our side.

if you'd like to know more about satan and his followers (which is totally fine, they exist and if we are ignorant of them they'll just continue robbing us), i can recommend a fantastic book called The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis. in fact, you can download a free audio version right here:
http://www.radiomickdanger.com/ListShows.p...wtape%20Letters

its in 6 parts, so its a bit annoying, but totally worth it smile.gif

Satan is only powerful if your loaning him power.
like as in he will screw your life over if you;r actively talk to him like you'd talk to God.
He has access into your life if your living a life that allows him to be involved in it.
I think satanists believe he gives them power, but at the end of the day hes only there to screw them over.

But I think if your living a good christian walk with Jesus theres not much he can do to you besides tempt and 'opress' you or whatever.

my opinions on that one

;D

Satan is a POWERFUL being and has a lot of influence in our everyday lives. The bible says that he can appear as an angel of light and mislead people to do what he wants done. But calling him a worthy adversary for God would be going a little too far because we know that God is the creator and sustainer of everything. As well we know from the bible that when Satan had fallen from heaven he took a third of the angels with him. So as far as power, he has a lot of it but looking at which side has more power God has two thirds of the angels and GOD himself.

Satan has a power level well over 9000 so he's a very tough boss.

There is none more powerful than God, satan was made and can be blow out as easily as candle in the morning breeze. You fend off Satan with just the mention of Gods name and he will be blown away like dust in the wind.

proud_orthodox_guy is perfectly right. Satan only does what God allows him to do i.e. JOB!

And also Satan doesn't cause evil, if Satan didn't exist right now there would still be evil in the world.

And charles bronson is pretty tempting tongue.gif
