Okay, I for one am excited about windows 7. It looka like a good reason to dump XP.

Who has it, who doesn't, who wants it, who thinks it is worth having and why?

I don;t have it , but I like vista well enough so I don;t think there's much point upgrading.

I'm not saying that it doesn't look that good though smile.gif

I have it, it's amazing! The OS is much more aesthetic, and it runs smoother and faster. Just better all around.

And students can get it for 20-30 dollars in some cases.

I had Windows 7 a couple months before they released it, thanks to the Release Candidate Beta Testing Program! I'll have to actually buy a copy next year though. I recommend it to all. It is very useful, very well thought out, and VERY cool. Runs like a charm too!

On my last day of work this summer I got to do some product testing on it. From what I could tell, it had a very similar look to Vista, but is way faster, takes less space, and is all around better!

I've been running the RTM for two months now, and I won't go back.

Not because I particularly like the aesthetics, but because the finally unbroke compatibility with a lot of the stuff I still admin.

Yeah....You have to do a clean install which means you have to uninstall Windows XP then install Windows 7 and reinstall all your programs.

I have it, I got it through Microsoft's Expertzone for the price of shipping. I really really like it. OMG! The background picture just changed! clap.gif

But yes, it does run much faster, much smoother and looks very nice.

I would like to get it. But I have a feeling it's out of my price range. I'd only get it if it came on a laptop I bought. Though I plan on getting a mac.

The RC Beta was good. I would recommend it to anyone who is willing to buy it smile.gif

As for me, I only used Windows 7 for about a week then I switched back to Vista. I really have no problems with Vista so I'll stay back here in the Stone Age.

Haha, sorry man. Wasn't trying to knock people who can't afford it.

Let me rephrase.

If you don't have it, and you have the money... stop being dumb and get it!
All of this "Vista is fine" nonsense is just that... nonsense! After you get 7, you'll see the error of your ways.

Well technically... thats not how it works. lol W7 only upgrades from Vista. So if you have XP, you will need to download a version of Vista beforehand. There, let me quote it, they might say it better than me. lol

http://www.blogsdna.com/3217/step-by-step-...o-windows-7.htm
QUOTE
So a big chunk of Windows XP users will be expecting to upgrade to Windows 7 unfortunately there is no direct upgrade option is available from Windows XP to Windows 7.

You need to perform clean installation of Windows 7 by formatting your Windows XP or install on different hard drive partition keeping XP and Windows 7 in dual boot mode. Well don’t get disappointed you can do this, first perform Widows XP to Vista upgrade then Windows Vista to Windows 7 upgrade.

And FLyingNun, people do say to stick with what you have IF you are satisfied with the version you already have, in order to avoid the agony of program changing. lol

EDIT: When installing, there is the option for the upgrade to keep all of your programs and saved files, so you dont have to reinstall the whole shebang by yourself and tempt the devil with a small mistake that could send your computer into oblivion. lol But this depends on which version of XP/Vista you already have and which version of Vista/W7 you wish to install (both version need to be compatible like upgrade Vista Home Premium to W7 Home Premium).
