Christian Colleges?

I think that we should ask God which colleges he wants us to attend. We need to let God lead our lives as much as possible. Choosing which college to go to is a tough decision...and we have to make sure that we make the right one.__"take it to the Lord in prayer"__ -LANDON-

    Does Suicide Lead to Hell?

OK... I know where I stand on this whole "suicide debate", and I'm not going to argue about it anymore...I'm going to get on with "soul-winning" for my Lord and Saviour. The New International Version is probably the most reliable Bible that I have found. I currently use a New Living Translation (which does have a couple problems, but nothing tragic, I usually just reference to another translation to be sure with it). Most of the newer translations seem to be quite reliable. The fact is that the old King James Version has some translation errors that are so bad that they even make the Bible contradict! If there are errors that bad, I choose to completley dismiss the translation as a whole. There was a very old debate on this a very long time ago if you want to look a little more into it, the debate had a few highlights of some of the worse errors in it. 289692 For those of you that think that the "new translations" are reliable, need to take a look at this.>>>LINK--Verses missing out of the "new translations"--LINK Almost all of the "new translations" have verses completely missing. The NIV is the most unreliable out of them all. As a child of God, I will not settle for verses missing from HIS Word. Man has fooled with the Bible and messed it up. They left stuff out!!! Rev. 22:18-21. I stick to the King James Version, because it has no faults. It is God's Word and God's perfect word. And many say that the KJV has faults too. Well then...Point them out. Tell me when you get tired of looking for them, because you won't find them. The KJV was the first Bible translated into the English language for a reason. AND [it is not hard to understand].....-Proverbs- says to apply yourself and you will receive wisdom. -LANDON-

    Does Suicide Lead to Hell?

"Then I guess none of us can be sure that we are saved. I guess it is impossible to know whether or not we believe in Christ...makes a lot of sense..." Did I say that? No I didn't. You CAN be sure. You CAN have the assurance. But what I'm trying to say is: I think that half the people that claim that they are Christians that commit suicide wern't really saved in the first place. And I think the reason they do commit suicide is because they have no hope that Jesus will deliver them through whatever they are going through. They didn't have faith. This is a very touchy subject though. ___Ok freestyle... You say that every sin is forgivable (including suicide)...except for blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. I agree with you on that. But when you commit suicide you are rejecting Christ(or the Holy Ghost). Whether it be the decision you make before you commit suicide or suicide itself. But I gotta get to bed...mornin comes mighty early...We can finish this descussion later...peace -LANDON-

    Does Suicide Lead to Hell?

This same argument continues to be used over and over again and the fact of the matter is that it shows a lack of understanding as to what leads someone to become suicidal. Many people who have accepted Christ have committed suicide. I can use the same argument against anyone else. You say that someone who commits suicide is not born again. I could say anyone who sins is not born again! They are disobeying the Lord when they sin! Now do you understand what you are saying? Suicide is a sin, it is a failure against temptation, just like any other sin. There are countless instances leading to suicide, for example, to escape torture, as a result of clinical depression which is a chemical imbalance between neaurons in the brain (which I once had), etc. 288519 I don't think Landon is saying they go to Hell because they sinned in commiting suicide. I think what he's saying is that they go to Hell because they weren't a a true Christian in the first place. And how can you be sure that those people who commited suicide accepted Christ? Only God knows what is in a mans soul and a soul that destroys itself cannot truelly love God as I see it. And if I commited suicide then I don't think I would be ashamed to go to Heaven. Not because I had sinned but because I hadn't trusted God enough to bring me through. I'd condem myself. Sin is all very well because that shows a weakness in the human but suicide gives the impression of a weakness and fault in God. 288583 Amen!!! Exactly Storm. That is exactly what I meant. I'm not saying that they are going to hell because they sinned and didn't have time to ask forgiveness. Once you are truly saved, you are always saved. When you except Christ as your Saviour, you are written into _The Lambs Book Of Life_ and never taken out. I am saying that they are going to hell because they were never truly saved in the first place. **GOD** has a perfect time and place when he will take us up. By killing ourselves, we are doing our will not his. We are soldiers of Christ, and we have a duty on this earth. That duty is to show the LOVE that Jesus showed when he was here. So that by showing that love, people might see Christ in us...and want what we have. God is either going to say "depart from me I never knew you">>>> *OR* "Well done my good and FAITHFUL servant." God can't really say well done my good and FAITHFUL servant if you killed yourself. Because you didn't have faith enough, that he would deliver you through. -LANDON-

Many people were arguing against my claim that you can be forgiven for your sins after you have died. (refuting the claim that suicide is a sin that you cannot repent of) "Every sin or blasphemy can be forgiven-except blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, which can never be forgiven. Anyone who blasphemes against me, the Son of Man, can be forgiven, but blasphemy against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven, either in this world or in the world to come." Mathew 12:31-32 Suicide is a sin. Jesus stated here that blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is the only sin that can never be forgiven. Therefore suicide can be forgiven. An argument is that since you are dead, you cannot repent, and therefore cannot be forgiven-thus sending the person to Hell. Christ's words here obviously refute that. The last words "or in the world to come." lead me to believe that you are forgiven of your sins after death, obviously excluding blasphemy against the Holy Spirit (rejecting Christ). I also have another statement. What about the people who committed suicide because of medication? There are many medications that have been found to cause people to commit suicide. Even the anti-depressant Zoloft (which, ironically, I was taking when I became suicidal 2 1/2 years ago) and some acne medications have led many extremely happy teenagers to suicide, seemingly out of pure impulse. What about the people who commit suicide because of these medications? 288524 You have an extremly good point. If suicide is a sin just like any other, then it is forgivable. I am kinda in the middle(undecided) right now. I will pray about it. p.s. Will you explain what exactly blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is. I don't quite understand. THANKS -LANDON-

    CTF Official Catholicism Debate Thread

I have nothing against anyone from another denomination. I may not agree totally with their denimination, but I have nothing against that person. I mean, put aside our differences, and let's fight satin together. I attend a babtist church. And I have many Christian friends that have different denominations than I do. But that doesn't mean we can't still carry out "HIS" plan. -LANDON-

    Does Suicide Lead to Hell?

Does a saved person go to hell if they commit suicide? Yes I beleive they do. I mean think about it>>> If a person were truly saved; they would'nt kill theirselves. They would have enough faith in God that they wouldn't. Someone that commits suicide is not trusting in the Lord. Someone that commits suicide is not born again. -LANDON-

Is sin the same in Gods eyes?

You really can't look at it either way. All I know is that _sin_ is HORIBLE. It is not pleasing in God's eyes. Cursing is a sin. Murder is a sin. They are both VERY VERY BAD ; they are both sins. God cannot look upon sin. _LANDON_ 287928 ya but you dont get sent to jail for cussing 288061 Yeah...but that is "MAN'S" way of looking at it. Not God's. Men put levels on sin. But God doesn't. God says plainly that it is wrong and we should'nt do it. -LANDON-

Is sin the same in Gods eyes?

I placed some verses above that make some notes that God rewards people for deeds in Heaven, also implying that some deeds are better than others. (through God's eyes) Would this not be evidence that some sins are worse than others? I am still remaining open minded on this topic because I do lean both ways. I can't say that I have looked into this issue enough to become concrete in my statements. Someone please post verses to support the claim that all sin is equal. (excluding the verse that says one sin breaks the whole law, that doesn't support all sins being equal, that just supports the fact that even the smallest of sins is deserving of Hell) 286261 Just because certain deeds are better than others (in God's eyes), doesn't mean that certain sins are worse than others (in God's eyes). God says not to sin. He doesn't say: some are OK to commit. He says none of them are OK to commit. SIN is SIN. -LANDON-
