Why do you believe in God?

Because of the personal experiences I have had with God, and science (the proper definition of the word), supports the existance of God.

    Does God love abortion?

Ok. The Bible indicates in several passages that life begins at conception. So obviously, it is against abortion. End of story. I can post the Biblical verses later if someone wants them. It's impossible that God would intentionally kill children; that's like saying "Does God love earthquakes?" etc.

    Heya I the new newbie

Welcome to Christian Teen Forums! I hope you enjoy it katie217, (what does 217 mean anyway), and get a lot out of this forum. I'm Yoda, btw.
  4. So many homeschoolers! I have never been homeschooled - so I'm not sure what it would be like.

Hey I used to play Warcraft 3 a lot, but not so much now and hence my account has decayed a lot. So has my skill level, lol. I have never enjoyed DOTA, though.

What Biblical Place Would You Best Like To Visit

I would like to go to the Garden of Eden. Even though the Garden probably isn't there anymore. But it would at least tell me where it was. (If only I had a time machine!)
  7. Here are some more verses on premarital sex, and it's condemned a lot in the Bible. I won't repost what was brought up by freezexbrand. It's silly that some people here think that nothing in the Bible condemns premarital sex, IMO. It's one of the worst things you could do. 1 Thessalonians 4:3, 4, 7: "For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour... For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness." Galations 5:19, 21: "The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery... I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the Kingdom of God" Not directly related, but has some purpose: Matthew 5:27,28 "But I say unto you, that whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart." For the topic itself, people should be allowed to hold hands, kiss and hug each other. However if it leads them into lustfull thinking, then they should not do it. They certainly shouldn't touch each other in certain areas or other similiar types of things which are definately reserved for the wedding night.

    Boy or Girl?

Wow - a huge percentage of women. Surprising (in a good way?)

    Harry Potter

There's nothing wrong with Harry Potter. Seriously, it's unforunate that people complain about it. Unlike a certain other book, it's not pretending to be real.

Meat does make you fat, though.

Well done, St.Olaf God is like totally amazing - He has saved heaps of people. Although I've always been a Christian, my passion was boosted a lot recently (due to the Planetshakers conference), and I'm feeling a LOT happier now than I was then. Lion_Angel - Yep I'll include you in my prayers. The Lord certainly wants a close relationship with you, as He does with all people.

    The Corrupt a Wish Game

I don't understand this - so you've just wasted a wish I wish I was filled with the Holy Spirit.

I'm a vegetarian - and yes, it is the HEALTHIER option. Seriously - humans look like they were designed to be planet eaters. Meat takes a lot more effort to digest, and the teeth were meant for grinding, not slicing. Nothing about the human anatomy suggests a weapon, yet all carnivores seem to have one. As far as I know.

I went to the Planetshakers conference during the past few days, and a very sincere-sounding guy (during an elective) told us of his experiences when he has prophesized. I've also "spoke" with someone on the internet on another online forum who has (or so she says) forseen events. Both of them seemed to be extremely passionate for God. The first guy said that you have to be filled with the Holy Spirit, which constitutes a small percentage of Christians. Some of the other Planetshaker speakers (especially Chris Hill) told us about miracles he's seen others perform, or performed himself (unsure), but never mentioned prophesy. I'm pretty sure there are Biblical verses on this - I'll check them out later. Yay! I'm a vegetarian too! :partyguy:

    Driver's Test Tomorrow

May God be with you - I have a driving test scheduled next month, but I probably won't be ready for it. (Will send prayers) Edit: Have sent prayers.

If watching that garbage has no affect on him, then he wouldn't be watching it. It's that simple. The fact is that if he wants to keep watching it, it's doing something to him. My general impression is that it would require an incredible willpower, (or a biological problem) to watch that without ill effect.

    Serious question

Nobody is being forced to go there - as far as I know, at any rate. I'm not really sure if "Japanese public baths" qualify in any case, because (presumably) everyone there at one time is of the same sex. If people want to see a sports carnival, or are being forced to (from school or otherwise), it's entirely different matter because they never asked for cheerleading. I'll bring up an example. In English Literature class last year and the year before, we often went to plays. One of them (early last year, called "The Oddyseus") contained nudity. We were warned about that in advance, but everyone assumed that it would be some half-second thing which didn't mean anything. Except it went far-further than that.... I shut my eyes through a lot of it. In hindsight, I wish I never saw that play. Tightish shorts would definately help - and it shouldn't constrict movement at all. Not that I've ever watched cheerleading.... when girls did dances at school (which I've graduated from now), they would wear tightish pants underneath their dresses and their movement wasn't restricted at all. A point there is, in saying that women should not be compensating for the weakness of men. That's true to a certain extent - I wouldn't endorse what muslim women wear, and "fixing" the "media" would be a better solution to corruption. But women (and men as well if applicable) who wear costumes in order to advertise themselves are doing something wrong, in my opinion. Firstly, Thanks for the impersonation. Secondly, what you've said in one way is correct. "One cannot be tempted if one does not desire", but ironically that's like saying "one can not be diligent if one is not hardworking." Temptation means the desire of something you know you shouldn't want/have. People do not choose if they are tempted or not - it is something that happens without their consent. However people can choose to act upon that temptation. With a lot of effort, you can resist temptation with greater ease and improve your resistance to corruption. But it's a lot easier to simply not view whatever is tempting you. Btw, is there any reason why it takes a while for my post to appear in the thread after I've clicked "add reply?" (It initially appears red, but on the thread list the person who made the post before me is listed as the last poster) Yoda

It is possible to take (early) Genesis metaphorically (as evolution), however there are a considerable number of continuity problems. How does "Cain and Abel" translate into evolution? Without God (or some superior spirit) directing it, evolution (as from single celled organisms) is impossible. I'll give you an example. Flowers. They require insects (e.g. birds/butterflies) for reproduction. How could they have been aware of insects in the first place? And since these changes take "millions of years", what did they do in the meantime? Regarding this, it is impossible to differentiate between "macro evolution" and "micro evolution." Btw, evolutionists do not propose that humans evolved from apes. That is a very common misconception. Instead, they believe that humans and apes have a common ancestor.

    Drinking ... ?

I don't like that quotation much - it's a broad, wide-sweeping statement. There are no Governments in the World today which God would have appointed (as far as I know). And the irony is that when Paul said that, the Caesar of Rome (his King) was Nero.

Are We Talking Metaphor Or Literal?

I'm pretty sure that Saint Paul was saying that they should not disturb the service in any way. But seriously, I don't think that Jesus Christ would endorse everything that Saint Paul said. As he himself said multiple times, it's his opinion only.... 1 Corinthians 7 would be an example of this. (Hopefully nobody was offended by this!)

It's quotes like that which cause me to think that I should spend more time reading the Bible.

    Bible Characters

I'm suprised that very few people have said Elijah; he's always been my favourite. The way he challenges the 400 false prophets is awesome, and he's one of the two OT characters to be taken to heaven. You'd have to be pretty amazing to have that landmark. Joseph (one of Jacob's sons) was quite good as well, in the sense of how God turned his unfortunate fate into a greatness.

    Drinking ... ?

Romans 13:1-4 According to the Bible, it's not a sin to consume "one drink" (Jesus Christ himself did this a few times, right? Like at the Wedding of Cana and at the Last Supper?), but getting drunk is. It's a good idea to keep control of yourself in any case. Bible passages which criticise drunkedness: Isaiah 5:22 Luke 21:34 Romans 13:11-14 Ephesians 5:18
