A Sensitive Topic For Women: A Discussion on Masturbation

1 Thessalonians 4:3-5 For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor, not in the passion of lust like the Gentiles who do not know God; 2 Timothy 2:22 So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart. Romans 6:11-14 In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness. For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace. Romans 13:13-14 Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy. Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh. 1 Peter 2:11 Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul. Ephesians 5:3 But sexual immorality and all impurity or covetousness must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints. 1 Corinthians 6:13 “Food is meant for the stomach and the stomach for food”—and God will destroy both one and the other. The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. 1 Corinthians 6:18 Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. Hebrews 10:22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 1 John 3:3 And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure. Titus 2:12 Training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age Titus 2:4-5 And so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled. Galatians 5:19-21 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. Philippians 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Proverbs 4:23 Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life. Romans 12:1-2 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body. ---------------------- Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose. Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life. -Philippians 2:12-16 Also, do check out this link: http://www.gotquestions.org/masturbation-sin.html

Caught up in the hook up phenomenon.

I'm going to kinda, "rock the boat," as it's called. I want you to know that I am not trying to be insensitive or hurt your feelings. I just want you to be able to walk away before you get really hurt. I do think that what you are doing is wrong. You have said yourself that you think it might be a little contradictory. Girl, light and dark can't mingle and still be separate from one another. A shadow is created when the two mix, and according to scripture, that grey (or lukewarm) area is referred to as being worse than being in total darkness. Revelation 3:16: "So, because you are lukewarm, neither hot nor cold- I am about to spit you out of my mouth." God is pretty serious here. If we know the truth, know what we should do and still do not do it, it's worse than not knowing the truth at all. You say that you really like the feeling of being wanted. Trust me, I like that feeling too, and I think all of us are thrilled when we feel like people want our company and actually enjoy having us around. But here's the kicker: can you honestly say that at the end of the day, when you've made out with these guys and don't see them again or still remain 'friends' with them and deal with the awkwardness, do you still have a nagging feeling of wanting to be wanted again? Do you think it's possible that maybe you seek out so many guys because you are unsatisfied and don't feel complete? Is it possible that you are looking for love "in all the wrong places?" You said, "But i'm aware that with this promiscuous side to me, God isn't going to give me an eligible man." And you're exactly right! You know why? It's not the "promiscuous side of you" that's the issue. It's what's causing the promiscuous side that is what worries God. All girls want to be loved. All girls want to know that they are of value, and that someone would give absolutely everything for her. But there's only one (and he's the perfect man for the job) that can do this. God wants to be the ONE that you find value in. God wants to be the one that you look to for worth, and the one that you look to for love. As long as you keep looking at man (a fallen creature that will never be perfect or complete you) for love, you're just going to keep getting disappointed time and time again. --- I reread this and I seem really harsh! But really, you're not totally doomed lol. I'll be praying for you.

Kissing- should it wait for marriage?

I'm starting to believe more and more that kissing should be left to marriage or at least a committed engagement. Especially in our sex saturated world today, I think that to be able to wait until marriage is God-honoring and pure. The book "I Kissed Dating Goodbye" by Joshua Harris is a wonderful resource and has really helped me to have a different outlook. That's not to say that I'm stuffy and wouldn't have trouble waiting. =p I just think the relationship could be more focused on getting to know each other better rather than turning too smoochy too fast (which could lead to other things if the couple is not careful).
  5. Hello again, Mrs. P! :) I hope you have been well.

  6. Aw thanks. I've been well. Finally graduated and now I'm entering the working world. Lots of changes but I know they will all go well (even if it's difficult). =) How have you been?

  7. Haha! Hey! Good to see you back! How have you been?

PARANORMAL POLL: Do you believe in ghosts?

Yep, I'm that "other" person, who just HAD to post. I'm not sure whether I believe in ghosts or not. And the reasoning is, my father and other men on his side of the family claim to have seen ghosts as well as strange paranormal events. I believe them. I've had a few moments where I have heard things myself but I haven't seen a ghost or anything strange (which I'm kinda glad; I'd never be able so sleep at night! ) I've got a theory that many "ghosts" are really just memories, or fragments of people that have been left behind. If that's the case, people would leave parts of themselves wherever they go in life (let's just hope the quantity of parts doesn't progress with age. hehe).

    Nothing but God

I seem to find myself at this forum whenever I am in the midst of great trial and complete brokenness, and the same can be said with my relationship to God. It's only when I'm falling flat on my face that I turn to Him and cry out why He is not helping. "Strangely" enough, I have been reading Exodus, in which God's people are constantly given blessing after blessing, sign after sign from God that they will be cared for, and yet in return of God's great kindness and commitment, they disappoint Him by feeling discouraged and asking Him why He is allowing them to go through troubles. I am no different from these. While I realize this fact, I seek prayer, encouragement, and support. I have multiple requests, all of which I know God can help me with though sometimes I lose sight of that fact. If you could please pray for me and my family, just knowing that someone is will be a huge relief. Also there are many people right now currently suffering in Colorado because of the fires and in some eastern states due to storms. Remember them in your prayers. Thanks!
  13. Hey! I've been doing okay. Pretty busy and crazy around here! I'm glad to see that you're back! I don't come on here nearly as often as I used to, every once in awhile. But your last year?! That's awesome! You have to be really excited! Do you know wha you want to do after?

  14. Do not apologize, I understand. That is an appropriate response. n_n

Not a bad article at all. I really needed to read this tonight. Especially the bit about allowing hindrances and not settling. *thumbs up* Thanks so much. =)
