  1. Very true. I'm interested in hearing what Matt (L) has to say though. He has one of the better positions I've seen, and all I'm looking for is some general Scriptural support.

Believe me . . . I'll pray about the topic myself and search Scripture, just to make sure I'm not holding or propagating a wrong position--that's not something I want.

Brother, I'm very happy to see that you are open to hearing other people's perspectives on this issue. As already established, it is one that is highly debated because of the literal health benefits and as well as the pleasure that comes with it. However, we must be willing to hear each other out and truely discuss things. If we start fussing, yelling, pointing fingers, and etc about issues, then the worldly stereotype of church people will stay the same. However, if this is handled in a biblical way, then the world will see the difference that we have in Christ and desire to have it. I hope that we all can discuss this in a understanding manner without firing "e-bullets" at each other. lol

  2. Brothers, we are all well aware that this is a highly debated topic. Just as a precaution from one who has seen bad debates about the Bible happen, keep in mind that we are here to edify each other as brothers who are dealing with things and are desiring to get closer to God. We are not here to have extremely long convos that do not accomplish anything that will extend the Kingdom of God. Just some food for thought.

  3. Well well well, this sure took off while I was gone...

Well, as of an hour ago I went a week and a half...

Then about 59 minutes ago I decided to fail and here we are again...

I know whats causing it, though. ...Not that I really want to discuss it on an open forum, but I know what it is, at least.

Figured I'd stop by again and say thanks for the advice guys.

Dude, that's awesome that you figured out what is triggering your impulse to do that stuff. I would highly recommend getting an accountability partner in person, but know that if you need someone to talk to about things I'm here. Just shoot me an PM. :)

  4. Porn and Masturbation. 4-6 years of both. I don't remember which one was for longer. I was caught looking at porn, but it didn't stop me. I was almost caught masturbating...but never really. Then there was this girl. I couldn't bring myself to hide it from her anymore, so I opened up to her, and she supported me and gave me an "ultimatum" where we wouldn't date (we were going to start dating) for 40 days from the last time i did it. And if i did it, i would tell her, and we couldn't touch for that day. Masturbated once after the ultimatum, and we were dating...that day was not fun. I've been clean for over a year now, and the only way i've survived is totally giving my heart to God, and my desires and everything. i know it might sound cheesy, but He is the ONLY way to stay clean. Only He can defeat the demons driving you to do things.

I agree! We have to have God at the forfront of our minds. It will be extremely evident when we don't. We also need to root ourselves in the Word. Icexist, I rejoice with you brother about your victory over this.

  5. dont listen to other people...just use protection, dont get anyone pregnant or catch or contract an STD, and god still loves ya!

Hold your horses man!!!!! How can you make such a response when Scripture strictly speaks out about sexual immorality?

Here are some passages just to name a few:

Matthew 15:19- For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual

    immorality, theft, false testimony, slander

Mark 7:21- For from within, out of men's hearts, come evil thoughts, sexual

    immorality, theft, murder, adultery......

1 Cor. 6:18- Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are

outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body

Galatians 5:19- The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality,

    impurity and debauchery;

Ephesians 5:3- But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality,

or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God's

    holy people.

Now, this does not mean in any way that one cannot be forgiven of such an act. I know people in my life that have done things in their past that they wish that they could take back such as sex before marriage. Yet, one should abstain from this behavior because it is utterly wrong. Anyone that says that it is not is acting contrary to what Scripture tells us. Follow God and His Word in all things. Double check what a fellow man tells you out of council with what Scripture says. If it is something that is contray to Scirpture, then do not follow through on that advice. Whether they notice it or not, they are leading one astray.

  6. hahahahahahaha. omg..thats kinky! but...odd...well just imagine people who are not blood related...we all have penises and brains or vaginas. but its okay to have odd thoughts...just tell yourself..its not real..and its okay..and move on

Wait a minute! Are you saying that it is okay to lust after someone and we should just "brush it off" as if nothing happened? When we fall we need to seek out God for forgivness immediately and then strive with all that we have to not fall back into that sin. This is something more than just a "kinky" thought.

To Cheeseisgoodlol: I hope that you are sustaing from this sin, my brother. I know that it is a difficult battle, but I just want to encourage you to keep on trusting in the Lord and continue to focus more on the things of God instead of the things of man. Feel free to message me anytime brother.

  7. Hey !

I believe both are absolutely fine.

(This part may not apply to you but I just thought id throw it in )

If you take part in either of the two and get sexual urges stop even though you are not sinning you may be tempted to sin.

Ditto. Do not put yourself in a tempting spot.

  8. Just because something is not explicitly mentioned in scripture as a sin doesn't mean it isn't wrong. Human cloning is not mentioned in scripture, but I am the vast majority of us would see it as wrong, because it is. The morality of masturbation is not about personal conviction, if determining whether or not something is sinful is a matter of personal conviction, then every other sin is up for debate, because people can argue for any position no matter how outrageous it may sound. 100 years ago, you wouldn't see any Christians condoning premarital sex, but it is becoming increasingly acceptable for many Christians to condone premarital sex with some random rules attached (as long as you are engaged, in a "committed relationship", etc) This is relativism; it strips Truth and objective morality away from our actions and replaces them with cliches like "do it, if it feels right for you." Scripture must be applied with reason, and taking what we know about Christian sexual ethics, sexual organs were meant to be used in the context of sexual relationship which is reserved for marriage. It's that simple. Masturbation is completely self centered and distorts the entire purpose of sexual pleasure, organs, relationship, etc.

People who say its perfectly fine really need to take a step back and look at the issue objectively, because I bet the people that claim that its perfectly moral are doing it themselves so they clearly would be coming from a biased perspective, trying to justify what they do because they don't want to stop.

    Ditto to what you said.

  9. Hey

I was in the position early this year. I really wanted to stop masturbation as I was fairly new to Christianity. I gave up for about a month and a half ( I know that doesn't seem much to some people but for people like are selves it becomes a ritual) One of the main reasons I started again was because I found myself getting really stressed out, lusting ( even more then when I was masturbating ) and I know this sounds strange but less happy then normal. After hours of research and prayer I know now that masturbation is absolutely fine. It was said previously but GOD made us all sexual beings. The fact that we masturbate is completely normal and healthy. I learnt to control my lusting and have now stopped. I don't think you need to give up masturbation all together but pray to GOD every day / night until you find what he thinks is right for you. If you cannot control your urges even with the help of GOD I think then you should stop masturbating.

    Really hope this helps you

    Anthony

Anthony, I do agree with what you are saying. It is a matter of personal conviction because due to the fact that there is nothing really given in Scripture about the act. I really liked what you had to say about the subject. The reasoing that I will give for my response is for the sake of generally speaking to prevent leading a brother astray. Yet, I still stand behind my response due to what does occur when one does do the act of masturbation. I also want to note that this very topic is one that is highly debated among biblical scholars. So, various views will be found on this topic.

I hope that this helps all of us out as we all, as brothers, strive to stay away from lust.

  10. I dont see a problem with masterbation...its perfectly healthy as far as I am concerned :)

no sex is involved, or stds, or risk. its not premarital sex or anything

There is a problem with masturbation, however. While the Bible does not speak a single word of it throughout the entire text, masturbation is still not a recommended practice. Why is that? That is because of what occurs while one masturbates: intense sexual fantisies, which is lust which is equated to adultry. Also, the act itself is quite selfish in nature. You are only focused upon yourself and the sexual feelings that you want to feel.

So, overall the inital act of masturbation is not wrong persay. However, it is what occurs in your mind that makes this practice a "deadly sin."

  11. MorningDew,

Coming clean with your problem through the means of confession is probably the best thing that you can do. I was wondering though if you were still seeking accountability or help in that area? I know that I am in the states, but I would love to help you out brother.

  12. Israel has many enemies, I see no problem with trying to defend themselves. That being said, the main issue (in my mind,

anyway) is that America chose to be decidedly against Israel. America and Israel are allies, and this decision will weaken

    the confidence in that alliance.[/b]

I have to agree that our alliance would be significantly weakened if we do back this thing up. It is pretty much backstabbing an Allie. Yea, we'll go along and help you, but we just won't support you. Israel has just as much right as any other nation to defend itself. However, as these events unfold, we must keep in mind as Christians that this just goes to show how much closer day by day we are getting to the end of this big thing called life as we know it.

  13. I have to admit that it was a bit of culture shock for me. When I first arrived in my dorm, my "snobbish" insides came out through voice and I said, "This is it?" haha. Following that, my dad began to tease me about me being in the army now haha. Anyway, I got to meet all of the different people and got settled in really quick. The thing that I learned about it though is that you have to just put yourself out there socially and be open to talking to someone you've never seen before.

  14. I know how things can be in your situation. I've been at a public school system ever since I was in preschool. But, I was in a school system where I was picked on and basically verbally/physically abused daily until my freshmen year. God thankfully had a way out for me through a series of events that lead to a merger of that school with our county school. I transferred to another school district in the county, which is the second smallest public school district in my state. God also has His hand over that school with the staff and students as well. Let that be an encouragement to you in this situation. I, too, can connect with you on the whole dad & money thing. If you want to send me a private message and talk more, feel free to do so.

Take comfort in this: "For I know the plans I have for," declares the Lord, " Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11

  15. Hello everyone! For college students, there is only one event like it on this planet. That's right, I'm talking about Passion and Passion 2010 was like no other. If you want, share your experience about this once in a lifetime event or just give a Passion shout out if you attended.

  16. this_life_is_yours, I must agree with you 110%! Masturbation is a problem that needs to be confronted. While it may be normal for us as sexual beings, that does not necessarily make it correct or right in God's eyes. I'm here on a bible college campus where this issue has been raised up by some. Some have taken the position that it is okay to masturbate if you do not lust after something (which I can't figure out how it can be done unless you're just so addicted to it) and others have the same position like me and you. Either way look at it, this is something that can be addicting like other things such as drugs and can cause you to carry out other sins such as lust. I too have struggled with this problem, but when in a close relationship with God it is the least of my interest to carry out the dirty deed.

  17. Yes, it is wrong to be sexually active before marriage. Just like in the previous posts, whether you are a Christian or not it is wrong. This, just like any other sin, needs to be turned over to God and asked for forgivness of. I am not trying to bash you in any way brother. I just want to see you in a right relationship with God! Please get things right with Him ASAP and things will begin to improve if you just let God have the controls of your life.

  18. I don't think that God minds. I have prayed in my boxers a number of times before. I have felt comfortable doing so. Although, I also have prayed in the shower as well. So, I don't think that God is concerned now with being in a bare body state.

  19. Hello everyone! I know that you may be wondering what I mean by It's Open! Well, let me begin with a short recap of my life. Over the past few years, I have been dealing with several underlying issues that I hid from everyone around me. While all of the other little nagging annoyances are gone, the core component issue was still there. This main issue involved hatred towards a close loved one that had been building for years and unknowingly was affecting me in more ways than I could catch on. Although I portrayed everything as going well even at college, my inside was a dark place that no one could get access too. This barrier has caused me to act as if of a false personality that doesn't add up and affecting the foundation that I have been laying for my ministry. This is what happens when you build hatred against someone. After getting into a conversation with a very good friend, things started to just crumble around me, a place where faith eclipses fear. There was a fork in the road that I had to take now or else it would place my future in the ministry in jeopardy. After fighting with this personality that I had created to cover up my problems, I knew what I had to do: get rid of the hatred and move on, letting God truly handle it.

As I was setting in the dorm room alone after my friend left, I thought and fought with myself, priorities, wants and desires. I needed not to second guess this. Without even thinking, I told myself I have to do this and I got down on my knees in a passionate prayer. With my TRUE self shining through, I got up and the burden was gone, the wall that was blocking me from following God was gone. The path was open! It always was, but I just blocked it out to keep things the way they were. To top it all off, Proverbs 15 spoke to me as I read it this morning, taking notes on how to handle the situation. There are no such things as coincidences with God! I'm prove of it!

This does have to do with forgiveness.....I would just like to ask forgiveness from all of those that bullied me. I held a grudge against you all which was completely wrong for me to do. I am truly sorry for allowing myself to fall into such an elementary scheme of the Devil.

I hope that this was of some help to you in your life's situations!

By the way, my name is Bro. Bigheart. Have I met you before? :)

    God bless,

    Bro. Bigheart

PS: I still have yet to go head to head with the main thing with this issue. Please pray for God to prepare me to do so and equip me with the right things to say. I know that He will take care of me. :)

  20. Well, I'm starting a new chapter in my life with me going to college this year as well. I can't connect with you as far as going to be 3 1/2 hrs. away from home cause I'm going to be about an hour and a half. Still, a pretty good distance. Away, I know how you feel about the high school thing. It didn't really hit me until now that I'm out of High school and all of my good friends are "left behind." But, the distance factor isn't going to stop me from staying in contact with everyone. I got a myspace...Facebook...this...cell phone...e-mail...lol! However, being there physically talking to them and communicating through a piece of technology is alot different. I do know one thing though: God has blessed me with every single individual person that is in my life. Since I know this, I MUST remember and take comfort in the fact that God will allow me to keep them in my life as long as He wants me too.

Anyway, now for the advice: Stay deep in your faith and follow God's Word through this new, exciting, and even tempting chapter of your life. If you stay close to Him all the other things will fall into place. Trust me. :D

  21. Senior skip day for here was a while back. As far as a prank goes...I thought that the plot was going to be carried out this morning. Upon arriving at school, there was nothing. So, either the date got moved or we just didn't do it. Who knows? Things might change when I post something tomorrow. lol
