    Thanks for the message.
  3. Tell him that you're "absolutely bored this weekend with nothing to do." If it means that much to you. If that doesn't work, perhaps just ask him out, we're all equals here.

    The 6000 year creation belief.

That's true if you're a Christian friend, but remember this sort of thing is important for us as Christians to figure out for non-Christians. Christianity takes quite a beating from Atheists for some's belief in a young Earth, mostly because it is entirely unscientific. Not all Christians believe that the Earth is 10k years old and we need to be able to show non Christians how logical this Religion really is. Not to say those who believe in a YEC are illogical, you just look that way to Atheists.

Was'nt he forced to recant his findings Zabby?

    The 6000 year creation belief.

How does one ignore that the light from Stars is just reaching Earth now even though they no longer exist? We know by the speed of light and the distance of the Stars that it must put the Universe at a much older age than 10,000 years. Also, as for my official strawman arguement: Lets face it, Christians are always afraid of change even when it doesnt affect their Religion. Take a look at Galileo, how he was threatened to be killed for his discoveries on how the Earth rotates around the Sun. Why did this bother anyone?

    The 6000 year creation belief.

I think it just boils down to frustration Isaiah when it appears to be so obvious that the Earth dates back hundreds of millions of years, and the stars go back billions. The only thing that stops people from believing what appears to be the obvious truths of the Universe is a book with as many interpretations as this Earths age.
  8. Approved this topic, but remember to keep in mind our statement of Faith. If your beliefs are so far fetched, ie; "I believe Satan is actually a good guy!" then this will be shut down.

    I don't understand

Just call yourself non-denominational. You may one day want to think over what Baptism and what the Body and Blood as bread and wine mean to you. When you discover those things, perhaps you'll choose a denomination that makes sense to you.

  14. I moved this to the Controversial news section because this is clearly a debate topic based on a news article. I debated with myself whether I should redirect people to the debate forum based on this thread and start a new topic but I think the discussion is moving along nicely and I didn't want to inturrupt it. That being said I wanted to repost what God-sent said because he brought up some really good points, and I don't think we should be able to ignore them and claim that, "some people interprit it differently." I think that if someone makes such an in depth post such as the following, the verses posted should be discussed and debated. I hate to see all that effort gone to waste, and I'm interested to see what people with a counter view think of the passages posted:

    Is all sin the same?

My biggest issue with this is that God knows everyones heart, feelings, thoughts, etc. God knows every blade of grass on the ground and can see them wither while knowing every feeling of yours inside. Some sins are commited out of hate, some out of lust, some out of fear, some without knowledge that you are sinning. The only thing that makes all sins equal is that they are all worthy of death, however an equal sentence does not make all sins equal in terms of how bad the sin is. For example; God may see one person lie, and see another person lie, then judge each person differently based on that lie. He is much bigger than just seeing a sin and seeing it the same as any other sin. He is much bigger than seeing someone make a joke and thinking it's the same as a rapist.

    Did I commit this sin?

Can you give me some context here? Because I highly disagree with this and I don't think it's the best thing to go around telling people. Are you saying that in Gods eyes raping and murdering a child is the same as making a random, nonsexual joke? :S ---------- Post added at 09:18 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:29 PM ---------- Ok, I started a new topic and put it here http://www.christianteenforums.com/showthread.php?79349-Is-all-sin-the-same so we do not get off topic. 19. The title was taken straight from the website like it's supposed to be boys and girls. It's a copy and paste thread, if you have an issue with the thread title then continue to criticize the website. I suppose I could have edited it, but I would rather just copy and paste right from the source.

  21. Psalm 2, agreed by most Scholars to have been written by David. 1 Why do the nations conspire[a] and the peoples plot in vain? 2 The kings of the earth rise up and the rulers band together against the LORD and against his anointed, saying, 3 “Let us break their chains and throw off their shackles.” 4 The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them. 5 He rebukes them in his anger and terrifies them in his wrath, saying, 6 “I have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain.” 7 I will proclaim the LORD’s decree: He said to me, “You are my son; today I have become your father. 8 Ask me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession. 9 You will break them with a rod of iron[b]; you will dash them to pieces like pottery.” 10 Therefore, you kings, be wise; be warned, you rulers of the earth. 11 Serve the LORD with fear and celebrate his rule with trembling. 12 Kiss his son, or he will be angry and your way will lead to your destruction, for his wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed are all who take refuge in him. Isaiah 531 Who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed? 2 He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him. 3 He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem. 4 Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. 5 But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. 6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. 7 He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth. 8 By oppression[a] and judgment he was taken away. Yet who of his generation protested? For he was cut off from the land of the living; for the transgression of my people he was punished.[b] 9 He was assigned a grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death, though he had done no violence, nor was any deceit in his mouth. 10 Yet it was the LORD’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer, and though the LORD makes[c] his life an offering for sin, he will see his offspring and prolong his days, and the will of the LORD will prosper in his hand. 11 After he has suffered, he will see the light of life[d] and be satisfied[e]; by his knowledge[f] my righteous servant will justify many, and he will bear their iniquities. 12 Therefore I will give him a portion among the great,[g] and he will divide the spoils with the strong,[h] because he poured out his life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors. For he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors. ----------------------------------------------------------- Isaiah 9:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7 Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this. Just thought I would post a couple prophecies to read.
