    The 6000 year creation belief.

Because the Universe is older than 7000 years, that's the most obvious reason to me.

    Luke 17 and the Rapture

But just prior to this Jesus says 23 People will tell you, ‘There he is!’ or ‘Here he is!’ Do not go running off after them. 24 For the Son of Man in his day[d] will be like the lightning, which flashes and lights up the sky from one end to the other. Are you saying that the day of the Son of Man has already happend and it was during the destruction of the Jewish Temple?

    Luke 17 and the Rapture

So would you say that when it says that two are lying in bed and one will be taken and the other one left, the one "taken" laying in bed is killed while the other one remains in bed?

    Luke 17 and the Rapture

If anyone from a, "No rapture" standpoint would like to break down Luke 17 that would be wonderful. Specifically: 26 “Just as it was in the days of Noah, so also will it be in the days of the Son of Man. 27 People were eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage up to the day Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all. 28 “It was the same in the days of Lot. People were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building. 29 But the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all. 30 “It will be just like this on the day the Son of Man is revealed. 31 On that day no one who is on the housetop, with possessions inside, should go down to get them. Likewise, no one in the field should go back for anything. 32 Remember Lot’s wife! 33 Whoever tries to keep their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life will preserve it. 34 I tell you, on that night two people will be in one bed; one will be taken and the other left. 35 Two women will be grinding grain together; one will be taken and the other left.” [36][e] 37 “Where, Lord?” they asked. He replied, “Where there is a dead body, there the vultures will gather.” Clearly the one who is taken seems to be taken directly from Earth.
  5. I'm actually wrong, on an international level it seems that both men and women play field Hockey. Growing up though I found there was no where for boys to join any field Hockey teams. For example, all surrounding Highschools wehre I lived field Hockey was only ment for girls. Road Hockey is hockey on streets, sometimes played with roller blades, sometimes with shoes on. As for the Habs, as a passionate Leaf fan I hate them. But they have a fantastic fanbase!

    The 6000 year creation belief.

Uh, yes, many Scientists believe this. They don't use Science to prove it, but there are Christian Scientists. You mean the universe, correct? It's because the universe is greater than 6000 years old. That's why. Just because your interpritation of Genesis is to take it literally doesn't mean the Bible is lying if you do not take it literally.

    Speech

Was it because of your stance or because it was bad? ---------- Post added at 10:14 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:12 PM ---------- Josh, all I'm saying is that if you support homosexuals you should support them to be able to get married as most homosexuals are advocates for those rights.

I'm basing what I say off of his support for homosexuals. If you support them you would do your best to support their decisions. It is a strongly held belief by gays that they should be able to marry, to think you're helping their cause by speaking out against gay marriage is false. Again, I do not support gay marriage but this arguement is faulty.

So essentially you're looking out for the best interest of the gay community even though no homosexual agrees with you? I believe your opposition to gay marriage is for selfish reasons because if you were really looking out for their best interest you would support them.

    Wondering

You will be saved by Faith alone, but how works don't follow with true Faith is nonsense. Picture this: You love Jesus, have Faith in Him, believe He died for your sins, would die for Him, and yet you hate your neighbor, you're greedy, you have no empathy, sympathy or care for others in any way. You also disobey God at all costs... Such is not possible.

That would be an arguement against the case he's trying to make though. I am also against, "gay marriage" but I will say that most in favour will simply say that in order to be equal they should be given equal rights to marriage, and why should straight people care so much? If it really is just a, "cheap imitation" then straight people can consider it as such and move on. At least that way homosexuals can be married, thus having equal rights and straight people can have their opinions on it without withholding rights.

    Joyce Meyer false prophet??

Nothing like being the devils advocate, as you are for gay marriage in an area where it's not considered acceptable. My advice is to know the counter points ahead of time so that you don't have people shaking their heads with all the counter arguements they're thinking of. For example, when I hear an Athiest make a blanket statement like, "Believing in the Christian God is the same as believing in Zeus." In my head I think that is a terrible arguement and normally if it's just an average Atheist I will shut him down.
  15. What are your views on Eternal Security? Do you believe that, "Once saved, always saved" or can one lose their Faith in Christ, thus no longer being a Christian prior to death. Is there a difference between apostasy and losing faith? Do both result in the loss of Salvation, only one, or neither?
  16. Soccer drives me insane to be honest, haha. I painted the wall behind my tv found my eyes wondering to watch the paint dry while a Soccer game was on, more exciting. Hockey I can't get enough of, I love the Leafs.
  17. The majority of Hockey players in the NHL are Canadian, this is due to our love for the game. The large rate of kids playing Soccer is due to it being so much easier to afford. I played Soccer as a kid, always wish I played Hockey.
  18. Hockey always means Ice Hockey when a surface is not named. The only time Canadians name a surface is when they are talking about Road Hockey. Field Hockey (Like Ringette) is a womans only sport, played outdoors in the summer on grass with Hockey sticks and a ball. Lacrosse is not field Hockey, it's considered "Canada's summer sport" but it's really not that big of a deal. Most Hockey players play it in the Summer when the leagues are closed. It involves netted sticks and a ball, with Hockey nets and an arena similar to what you would find in a Hockey game.

    Hell and Universalism

Rev 20 10And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. 14And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

    Help with a trinity analogy

Nope, because then you are saying Mark is the band, Jason is the band and Jack is the band. The Father is God, The Son is God and the Holy Ghost is God. The simplist thing is to understand that when God was on Earth He was here as The Son, while still being God in Heaven as the Father. He sends His Spirit to be with every believer, who is still God, while God is still in Heaven being the Father. They are all the same, they have different jobs, but they are all one, as God is omnipotent.

    Hell and Universalism

If we want to talk Scripture, those who receieve the mark of the beast, the false prophet, the antichrist and the devil will all go to the lake of fire for all of eternity. The Bible is clear imo that the second death involves all sin and death going to the lake of fire. But "Where the worm does not die" "Where their fire ascendeth forever" etc, do not matter to some because they have their emotions in the issue like you have now.
  22. The gift is the Holy Ghost. You will receive the Holy Ghost, that is the gift. You're correct that you may not receive the evidence of that gift, but believing means you receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost being the gift. They believed in Christ before this point. They even said so. This is refering to them being baptized and recieving the Holy Ghost. You did not reference my Acts 8 scripture. Yeah, there was an edit there and I edited mine by cutting out the bottom and pasting it below your post so that I wouldn't have double posted. In other words, things got a bit messy there lol. If Scripture is any indicator about how we receive the Holy Spirit it is that we receieve it right as we accept Jesus Christ. Going back to Scripture we can safely say that "they" receieve the Holy Spirit at Baptism by believing in Jesus Christ. Again, Simon believing and being baptized, based on Scripture we know that he received the Holy Spirit at this moment. They prayed for the people of Samaria that they may receive the Holy Ghost, they did and when their hands touched the people they received it and spoke in tongues. Until they are Baptized (by fire) they did not recieve the Holy Spirit, and because of the power that came with their great faith, they began to speak in tongues. It is very possible this second group of people were being baptized by water prior to being baptized by Peter and John. ---------- Post added at 11:54 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:53 PM ---------- I am a firm believer that Baptism by water and fire are two completely different things. The water being an outward expression of Faith, and the Fire being the acceptance of Jesus christ.
  23. Here's what we have to do to receive the Holy Spirit: Acts 2:37 When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” 38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.” How do you interprit this? ---------- Post added at 11:17 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:15 PM ---------- It's because they were not being Baptized by water. Their Baptism was believing in Jesus Christ.
  24. This is the Baptism of water being seperated by the Baptism of "Fire." A common belief shared by both you and I. Johns is the Baptism of water, the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is the Baptism of "Fire." A singular event we have here. They were Baptized (with fire), Paul laid his hands upon them, and the Holy Spirit came on them. Your belief would have more grounding if you had any more Scripture in support of your belief. This is not a very common belief at all.
  25. 1 As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. 2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. 3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. 4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. The "One Baptism" does not refer to the difference between an outward expression of Faith and the actual Baptism. Clearly Jesus said that there are two Baptism's. One being with water, and one being with "Fire." The "One Baptism" referred to in this passage is in regards to the Baptism of Fire.
