  1. Guess I'll join Bryce and update this ghost town. Stuff like Reddit really destroyed message boards. Life updates: I am working on my PhD in math. I began teaching classes two years ago, I love it. You can find me making fun math videos on my YouTube channel: Hope you are all doing well!
  2. Good stuff! What are you studying in college?
  3. I went and found this thread on Google because I remembered lying about this and felt bad. I lied right to his face. I didn't know conducive was a word, and I thought my usage of "conductive" was correct. Man, I'm so glad I've become a better person.
  4. I've been meaning to buy a poster, it almost brought me to tears!

  7. Is the rebel flag racist? Since the last thread was unjustly requested for deletion, I have reopened the discussion. Unfortunately, those of you who contributed to the last thread have been robbed of all of the time and energy you put into your posts. Now that this thread has been restarted by me, I personally assure you that your posts will not be defaced by my request. Therefore, if it pleases you, I invite you all to resubmit your thoughts to the discussion.

    Lol @ the poll question.
  9. I investigated the quote, and I think you were right.

    Popularity in schools

Popularity in high school is a huge mystery. It makes very little sense in general. Some of the most popular kids from high school are some of the worst off now. Beer belly, still stuck in the hometown, dead end job, not particularly good looking. One guy in particular, when I see him and greet him, looks embarrassed and ashamed. Just ignore it. Be physically fit, be intelligent, be nice. Eventually people will value you for rational reasons.

    Israel

Then you and like-minded people can raise money for Israel on your own. To be clear, I don't support using tax dollars for any type of foreign aid for anyone.

    Israel

Don't care, but definitely don't want tax dollars spent on their behalf.
  14. Gearhead in real life: Atheist adult: "Hello miss. Nice day, isn't it?" Gearhead: "Y-Y-You t-t-ooo"
  15. I used to be pro-choice, but now I am pro-life. I've changed my mind about other things, but that one is the most interesting recent one (within 2 years).
  16. Every first date, leaving the date: "Yes! that went so well!" On the drive home: "Man, I wonder if that thing I said was dumb" By the time I went home: "Man, that date went bad."

You know what, never mind what I first commented. I now regret saying that.

      Jon's post is perfect.

  17. In a similar vein to "Your Favorite Bible Verse" thread, let's see your favorite quotes from any source. I'll start it off: "We either make ourselves miserable or we make ourselves strong; the amount of work is the same." - Carlos Castaneda "If you work at that which is before you, following right reason seriously, vigorously, calmly, without allowing anything else to distract you, but keeping your divine part pure, as if you were bound to give it back immediately; if you hold to this, expecting nothing, but satisfied to live now according to nature, speaking heroic truth in every word that you utter, you will live happy. And there is no man able to prevent this." - Marcus Aurelius "All cruelty springs from weakness." - Seneca the Younger "I have walked this earth for 30 years, and, out of gratitude, want to leave some souvenir." - Van Gogh "Men are disturbed, not by things, but by the principles and notions which they form concerning things." - Epictetus "Skillful pilots gain their reputation from storms and tempest." - Epicurus "How much more grievous are the consequences of anger than the causes of it." - Marcus Aurelius "In mathematics the art of proposing a question must be held of higher value than solving it." - George Cantor "To be without some of the things you want is an indispensable part of happiness." - Bertrand Russell “Do not indulge in dreams of having what you have not, but reckon up the chief of the blessings you do possess, and then thankfully remember how you would crave for them if they were not yours.” - Marcus Aurelius

Should I tell my crush that I love her?

For what it's worth, I've literally never had success by doing that. I have never, ever, ever pursued a girl that seemed uninterested in me and somehow changed her mind. It's always been obvious whether or not they were interested. Life is not a love story, don't pursue things that need to be forced or that don't naturally develop. It just doesn't happen dude.

    Appendicitis...please pray

Good luck, you'll be fine. The same thing just happened to my best friend in January. He didn't even go to the hospital until he developed a fever though. He had his appendix removed and everything went smoothly. The only negative was that he had been training for a marathon for like 9 months, and the marathon was the next month after his appendectomy. He ended up missing the marathon.
  22. The more fit you become, the more you get body-shamed, because it's socially acceptable to body-shame a physically fit person.

^ So you're against shaming anyone who brings out your personal insecurities?

Shaming anyone at the gym as a whole is not ideal.

It wasn't at the gym, I just happened to be wearing shorts. My calf muscles never grew like my quads and glutes, and for some reason people who don't lift tend to judge leg development by the calves (which are one of the smallest and least significant muscles in the lower body lol)
