Peter Jackson Starts Answering The Hobbit Fan Questions

"Hot on the heels of word that Luke Evans has joined the cast of Peter Jackson's The Hobbit comes the news, also via Deadline, that Benedict Cumberbatch has been confirmed as well. He will provide the voice of the dragon, Smaug, to whom Evans' character has a close relation. Cumberbatch is best known for his title role on the BBC series "Sherlock," appearing opposite The Hobbit's Martin Freeman. Evan's role will be that of Bard the Bowman, who plays a major role in the latter part of the novel. As such, the story, which is being divided into two halves subtitled An Unexpected Journey and There and Back Again, may only feature Bard in the second film, depending on how closely the adaptation mirrors the book. Cumberbatch has been rumored for the role for some time, accidentally announcing that he would be joining the film at the 2011 BAFTA Awards last month. At the time, the specific part was unknown and the actor even fretted that his "big mouth" may have cost him the part. He next appears on the big screen in Steven Spielberg's War Horse. In addition to Cumberbatch and Evans, the enormous cast for both films includes Ian McKellen, Martin Freeman, Cate Blanchett, Orlando Bloom, Ian Holm, Christopher Lee, Hugo Weaving, Elijah Wood, Andy Serkis, Richard Armitage, Jed Brophy, Adam Brown, John Callen, Stephen Fry, Ryan Gage, Mark Hadlow, Peter Hambleton, Stephen Hunter, William Kircher, Sylvester McCoy, Bret McKenzie, Graham McTavish, Mike Mizrahi, James Nesbitt, Dean O’Gorman, Lee Pace, Mikael Persbrandt, Conan Stevens, Ken Stott, Jeffrey Thomas and Aidan Turner."

National Man Day: The Return of Man

Only the commercials are from 2007, and I was just using them as an example of what may happen again . . . National Man Day's new, but why should time determine something's worth?

National Man Day: The Return of Man

Could we please stay on topic, I think that Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation should put a stop to this . . . not all men are like the stereotypical National Day they want to have, and if America's really "free" then there should be nothing wrong with two men kissing . . .

National Man Day: The Return of Man

On February 4, 2007, during Super Bowl XLI, Snickers commercials aired which resulted in complaints by gay and lesbian groups against the maker of the candy bar, Masterfoods USA of Hackettstown, New Jersey, a division of Mars, Incorporated. The commercial showed a pair of auto mechanics accidentally touching lips while sharing a Snickers bar. Realizing that they "accidentally kissed", they, in three of the four versions, "do something manly" (mostly in the form of injury, including tearing out chest hair, striking each other with a very large pipe wrench, and drinking motor oil and windshield washer fluid). In the fourth version, a third mechanic shows up and asks if there is "room for three in this Love Boat". Complaints were lodged against Masterfoods that the ads were homophobic. Human Rights Campaign president Joe Solmonese is quoted as saying "This type of jeering from professional sports figures at the sight of two men kissing fuels the kind of anti-gay bullying that haunts countless gay and lesbian school children on playgrounds all across the country." Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) president Neil Giuliano said "That Snickers, Mars and the NFL would promote and endorse this kind of prejudice is simply inexcusable." Masterfoods has since pulled the ads and the website.

National Man Day: The Return of Man

Time: Wednesday, June 15 at 12:00am - June 16 at 12:00am Location: Everywhere a man is! Created By: Joel Longanecker https://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=39581454903 More Info: This day is the day for all men to stand up and say, "Yes, I am a Man." And "Yes, I will step up and do manly things and whatever I want to do on this glorious day!" Come, make history! Be a part of National Man day. Take the world by the throat and tell them it's ok to watch Rocky movies all day. Tell them it's fine if you sit in your favorite chair and scratch yourself. Tell them it's normal to go shoot stuff or blow something up. Why? Because YOU ARE A MAN!!! You aren't some nancy that likes to frolic in the fields, unless it's a field of mines and you have an AK47 and a hand full of grenades... Then you really are a man! Yes on this day, men across the nation will be saying, "Screw you salad bar, with your salad and light dressings!" Men will step up and say, "I'll take that 20 oz steak, and yes, I'll eat it all. Because I'm a man!" I'm not asking you to throw some sissy party, or to go buy a new power tie because you're a man. All I'm asking you to do is step up live this day like a man would. Blow something up, shoot some animal, punch your buddy in the face for no reason, be a good father, play football and literally knock someone's head off... Do something manly. Be a man like God intended you to be... Take this day and celebrate your manhood! Hello my friends, A person has made a significant slam to our sacred holiday. Instead of giving support to National Man Day, they have deemed our day as "Sneak a Kiss Day". First, who the crap thinks of a day like that?? Seriously. Second, how can you sneak a kiss? The object of sneaking something is to not let anyone else know about what you are doing. So are you guys going to sneak into your closet and kiss yourself without telling you?? Maybe later you can write in your journal and laugh about it... Here it is men, we are MEN! We don't sneak kisses. We kiss and make sure she knows it's a freaking kiss!! Let her know you care, not by being some nancy that tries to play it off like it was a bug that landed on her cheek. Be a man! So, let's not go around "sneaking" kisses on June 15th. Let's go around being men! Being responsible, God fearing, mother loving, good fathering, awesome husband, men! Men that don't need to sneak a kiss to actually get one, men that treat their women right and deserve a big kiss! Let's be MEN! Sincerely, Joel Longanecker Hello my fellow countrymen! I have received mail recently that questioned the motives of this day. So, once again I want to clarify what National Man Day is about. National Man Day isn't about getting drunk and having sex with a million girls, anyone can do that. National Man Day is about being a responsible man and having fun doing it! So many times the media and other forces tell us that being manly isn't cool. They say it's ok to not be a man of your word, or to walk out and leave your family. National Man Day is a day to step up, slap the media in the face and tell them it is GREAT to be a manly man, one that John Wayne would be proud of! It is a day to step up and be a good father, or bring some flowers home to your wife. It's a day to be a man, one that this country hasn't seen in decades. It's a day to be a responsible, God fearing, God loving man! And it's a day to have freaking blast doing it!!!! So on June 15th, take time to be a good man! Take time to honor your family, to honor you country and to honor God! Take this day to make it the beginning of the return of manly men!!!! June 15th is the RETURN OF MAN!! National Man Day. What comes to your mind when you hear that? Maybe blowing things up, maybe doing manly things and cooking food on the grill. If so, GREAT! All those things are a part of National Man Day. Notice PART. The other part to National Man Day is about men stepping up and becoming men. Here at National Man Day, we want to make the men of this nation better men! Why? Because men around this nation have been taking the easy way out and shying away from what being a man is all about! We want to make men better fathers, better husbands, better boyfriends, better sons, better brothers, and better Americans. Our goal is to make men better! While having lots of fun doing it! So next time you wonder why National Man Day is here, know that our goal is to make men across this Nation better MEN! Keep up the good work, fellas! Remember, June 15th is the Return of Man! Here it is, gentlemen... The time you have all been waiting for.... Then National Man Day website is UP and manlier than EVER! What's that?? You don't know what the web address is?? Peter Jackson Starts Answering The Hobbit Fan Questions

"New Line Cinema, Warner Bros. Pictures and MGM have announced the titles and release dates for filmmaker Peter Jackson's two-film adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's enduringly popular masterpiece "TheHobbit." The first film, titled The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, will be released on December 14, 2012. The second film, titled The Hobbit: There and Back Again, is slated for release the following year, on December 13, 2013. Both films are set in Middle-earth 60 years before Tolkien's "TheLordoftheRings," which Jackson and his filmmaking team brought to the big screen in the blockbuster trilogy that culminated with the Oscar®-winning The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. The adventure of "The Hobbit" follows the journey of title character Bilbo Baggins, who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor from the fearsome dragon Smaug. Under Jackson's direction, both movies are being shot consecutively in digital 3D using the latest camera and stereo technology. Filming is taking place at Stone Street Studios, Wellington, and on location around New Zealand. Ian McKellen returns as Gandalf the Grey, the character he played in "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, and Martin Freeman, who just won a BAFTA TV Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the BBC series "Sherlock," takes on the central role of Bilbo Baggins. Also reprising their roles from "The Lord of the Rings" movies are: Cate Blanchett as Galadriel; Orlando Bloom as Legolas; Ian Holm as the elder Bilbo; Christopher Lee as Saruman; Hugo Weaving as Elrond; Elijah Wood as Frodo; and Andy Serkis as Gollum. The ensemble cast also includes (in alphabetical order) Richard Armitage, Jed Brophy, Adam Brown, John Callen, Stephen Fry, Ryan Gage, Mark Hadlow, Peter Hambleton, Stephen Hunter, William Kircher, Sylvester McCoy, Bret McKenzie, Graham McTavish, Mike Mizrahi, James Nesbitt, Dean O’Gorman, Lee Pace, Mikael Persbrandt, Conan Stevens, Ken Stott, Jeffrey Thomas and Aidan Turner. The screenplays for "The Hobbit" films are by Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens, Guillermo del Toro and Peter Jackson. Jackson is also producing the films, together with Fran Walsh and Carolynne Cunningham. The executive producers are Ken Kamins and Zane Weiner, with Philippa Boyens serving as co-producer. "The Hobbit" films are productions of New Line Cinema and MGM, with New Line managing production. Warner Bros Pictures is handling worldwide theatrical distribution, with select international territories as well as all international television licensing being handled by MGM."
  15. "Right, time to start answering the 20 questions. So here goes... QUESTION #1 STEVEN BEDDOE asked, "Will you have time to sift through 4,000 questions just to answer twenty of them?" Yes, I will. I've been very busy recently, not just with shooting, but with location scouting and prep work during our days off, so I've found it hard to get to the questions. However, today I have enjoyed sitting down and reading through them all. I'll get started and continue to answer what seem to be the most popular questions during the next few weeks (as well as some one-off, quirky ones!). Actually, that question was just a little dull (sorry Steven), so I'm not going to include it in the official twenty... OFFICIAL QUESTION #1 VALERIA KEMENTARI asked, "Are we going to see the White Council attacking Dol Guldor?" This was quite a popular topic, with JOHN LIDDLE, TOBY PHILLIPS and SETH DONALD, along with many others, asking variations of this same question. I'm not going to say just what and when, but I will confirm that both the White Council and Dol Guldur will feature in the movies. And not just in one scene either. Just how to visualise it has been a challenge, but fortunately Alan Lee and John Howe went crazy with ideas, and it should look pretty cool. In fact to celebrate the start of these 20 questions, I'll show you an exclusive photo of the White Council planning the attack on Dol Guldur! Even if you don't want to be hit with spoilers, you should still take a look. For the first image of Gandalf, Elrond and Galadriel brandishing an array of fearsome Elvish weapons, CLICK HERE! Another question soon... Cheers, Peter J" https://www.facebook.com/PeterJacksonNZ
