Luke 18:9-11,"And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican."
Are you the Pharisee, or the Publican? Because your actions are making it pretty clear which one you are.
Once you have to resort to "don't judge Trump," you've abandoned a Biblical theology of politics. And hypocrisy? I have lots in my eye, but nothing clearly related to Trump's own vices.
By your standard, John the Baptist should have just shut up about King Herod and saved himself the trouble of execution. And most of the prophets should have shut up instead of criticizing Israel and her rulers, too.
What does the Pharisee or publican parable have to do with this? In any way, shape, or form? And when have I even addressed my own righteousness or lack thereof? I have not once spoken about myself for good or ill.
Apparently by your standards we're never allowed to speak truth to power or call out sins or ever say someone is evil. I guess we shouldn't even judge Stalin or Hitler or Mussolini. Better get the logs out of our own eyes first and whatnot.
