    Teen Girl's Book Club!

COOL TEEN BEANS BOOK CLUB: Girl's Only Edition Each month, we delve into a different literary universe. AKA, we read awesome books. We would love to have you as a member here and we will gladly welcome you with open arms! Not only do we read books monthly, we also function as an online group of friends. If you are interested in becoming a member, continue reading down below! ABOUT: Each month, we have each of you guys suggest up to 3 books for us to place into The Pot of Chance. Basically, The Pot of Chance is what we place all of the books in the running on slips of paper into. We then draw from the pot and whatever book comes out is what we read that month. Note: We do not allow overly bloody books, overly romantic books, or any books that are anti-Christian. Each month when we finish reading the book, we celebrate by hosting a big "bash" which includes contests, challenges, debates, games, and more! We also create separate topics to go to for specific things pertaining to the club. If you have any questions about the End-of-the-Month Bash, let us know. Feel free to write reviews on different books, whether we've already read them or not. You can also rate books, recommend or unrecomend them, and so forth. Please no spoilers about any books even if the club has already read them for the sake of any new members. NOTE: Spoilers are allowed at the End-of-the-Month Bash discussions. The club is not just for reading. You can also chat here! If you have any questions, please just ask! RULES: -You must be female and at least 13 years of age. If you are older than 17, you cannot join unless given special permissions for certain reasons. -No inappropriate language, which is probably pretty obvious since this is a Christian website. -No bullying!! We stress this more than any other rule, because, like we said earlier, we also act as a close group of friends. -No teasing, even if it is meant as a harmless joke. -No laughing at others' misfortunes. -No personal information (e.g, zip code, IP, email address, address, city, etc.) -No inappropriate content. -No violence. -No dating or flirting. If you break any of the above rules, you will be banned. HOW TO JOIN: Write a paragraph with your first name, age, favorite genre, favorite book, and anything else you want to add. All information must be included in one post, otherwise it does not count. If you do not pass the expectations/test, you are not allowed to join. By the way, we know we sound very strict, but usually we're pretty laid-back and good-natured! All of the "security" is just to keep everything in order. After you've joined, it gets extra silly and relaxed. We wanted to mention that certain people may be promoted to question answerers, moderators, or even staff. Staff's job is to help keep everything organized, such as the amount of members, the names of members, members' basic info, keeping everything under control at the bash, etc. HAVE FUN LADIES!!!
  2. Okay guys, I've added a poll to suggestions everyone's given and what they seem excited about. You are allowed (and encouraged) to vote for multiple things which you are interested in watching. Hopefully there will be a winner in this poll and then we can go through other things as we are interested. ANNA = Anime News Network Article Mushishi (ANNA - Hulu) Genkutsuou (ANNA - Hulu) Last Exile (ANNA - Hulu) Kino's Journey (ANNA - Hulu) Princess Tutu (ANNA - Hulu) Soul Eater (ANNA - Hulu) Ouran High Host Club (ANNA - Hulu) On October 4th, we'll close the poll and start deciding how to watch the anime selected.
  3. NOTE: CTF does not endorse streaming anime or reading scans of manga on the internet. If you do not have access to a specific anime/manga, it is up to you to decide whether or not you want to sit out this particular round. NOTE 2: As both anime and manga are Japanese media, they often glorify and use the occult, witchcraft, demons, and other behaviors that may not seem appropriate or be suitable for all viewers. Please use your own personal judgement and Christian liberty when deciding whether or not it would be good for your Christian walk to join us watching these series. Hey guys, A little late, but as promised, I'll be taking the reins on the CTF Anime/Manga society. For those of you who don't know, anime is simply Japanese animation. It's like cartoons in Japan, except that they produce animation for people of all ages while people in the US tend to only produce them for children. Also Manga are graphic novels (think comic books) and they typically work the same way as anime. While you guys are free to discuss manga, I normally prefer anime, and that's what I'll be planning this watching around. So, let's start discussing how this'll work. As this is CTF, I want to avoid more explicit/violent animes. That'll be rough though because there is so much fan service in anime, and violence comes standard. As for format I have two ideas because we can't spend our whole time just watching anime. 1) Pick a series, commit to watching one 30-minute episode a day and post your reactions/discussions on the anime. (We'll keep this to anime that are 26 episodes or less so that we don't spend more than a month watching one, although we want to watch a longer one, that's cool.) You are free to watch ahead of the group, but you can't post spoilers in this thread. 2) Pick two movies to watch in a month. We'll discuss the first one in the first two weeks of the month and the second one in the second two weeks. Once again, you are free to watch ahead of the group, but you can't post spoilers in this thread. 3) Pick a long anime (27+ episodes) and we come up with a watching schedule for them. 4) For the future, we can take risks when the new seasons come out and watch the simulcasts that are available various places and try to watch concurrent anime (one episode a week) So I'm open to suggestions. Things I was thinking of starting out with though: *For option number one -> Bamboo Blade - My personal favorite anime of all time. Y'all can hate it, but I still love it. Also all episodes dubed1 and subed2 are available on Funimation online (using a United States IP address) -> Mushishi - I haven't watched this one all the way through, and it can get pretty dark, so I don't think it would be the best idea right away. *For option number two: -> Of course any two Miyazaki movies would be a great way to start this out, but they'll be hard to get ahold of. *For option three: -> I would love to watch Fullmetal Alchemist and Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood and do a comparison and contrast thing. -> Avatar the Last Airbender/Legend of Korra would be fun even though they're American animation Those are all my ideas that I'm willing to throw out. I know tons and tons more anime that we could watch. I just don't know how the temperament of CTF is and what we'd want to do as a group. 1) Dubed means that English voice actors re-recorded the dialogue in English. 2) Subed means that there are translated subtitles at the bottom of the screen.
  4. So there have been many talks of starting a club such as this and I've finally gotten some time to put some plans down on paper. Now if you don't get the concept, we're basically like the CTF Book of the Month Club, but we discuss films instead. I'm pretty open to all movies whether they be dramas, indies, comedies, etc. So we'll do all kinds of movies and try to keep our selections as easily obtainable as we can, so if you'd like to join come on in. A few guidelines for movie suggestions: 1.) We'll try to stay away from rated R films. The exception to this rule would be movies that were produced before 1984, in which case, just suggest it and we'll decide if it's a good idea together. 2.) Try to stay away from any film that has excessive language or sexual content. Most things are fine, we just don't wanna get too crazy with it. 3.) Most importantly, the easier to access the better. There are loads of public domain movies out there and lots of ways to access movies that are newer for free, but just make sure you think of how easy it is to obtain before you suggest.
