    Personal Note.. :)

Hello! My name is Anh Luu and I'm currently 24 years old. I've been following The Lord since I was 17, but my experience with Him deepened in 2012 when I embarked on an insane Summer Mission trip to Indonesia. Ever since then, I've discovered what it's like to live in His grace and His astounding love. Let me tell you a little more about myself! I was blessed to have graduated from UC Berkeley in 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts in English. Since then, I've been writing lifestyle posts and Christian articles to share the insights I get from the Lord to the world. Here are some of the more practical things about me: I love to sing, draw, paint, write, make DIY stuff, record videos, take photos, and be silly with my Shiba Inu named Augustus. I know- that's a LOT of interests! That's exactly why I made the blog www.girlandtheword.com. I want to be able to share all of these interests with you guys in an interactive manner. May you find the things on my website to be useful and/or enjoyable. I can't wait to connect with you all! "And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God." (Ephesians 3:18-19, NLT) Blessings, Anh ❤

    Are Christians Brainwashed?

(Taken from this blog post: http://dearopinionphobes.blogspot.com/2015/07/are-christians-brainwashed.html ) Most Christians who have argued with someone on a topic whether it be homosexuality, abortion, evolution or any other subject chances are they have been accused of being a "brainwashed Christian" which according to the accuser, is logic enough for the Christian's standpoint is to be ignored, but are these accusations true? The logic behind this reasoning is that most Christians believe in Hell and eternal punishment unless they accept Jesus as their Savior, not question the Bible or to ignore science completely. Which does sound like brainwashing if you look at it in that perspective, but are these accusations really true? The answers is this: Yes, there are some who are Christians who are "brainwashed" who simply believe in what they do just because that is what they are taught. But it doesn't mean Christians alone are brainwashed. Atheists can be brainwashed by their own fear tactics. For example, what does an Atheist believe in? They believe there is no God or supreme being. Many Atheist I have met consider the belief of God "Illogical". Since they cannot see God, they believe he cannot exist; answered prayers are coincidence, miracles can supposedly be explained through Science eventually, and anyone who believes in God are living in a delusion. Wouldn't that have an effect on their children and those around them? It gives the impression that belief in God is ignorant, and to think a person have encountered God is a delusion. Isn't that technically brainwashing? The fear of being ignorant if you believe in a supreme being or a spiritual realm? Both sides are guilty But how can a Christian break free of the " brainwashed" Christian mindset? Know what you believe: Read the Bible and find the truth. If you are constantly saying "I believe that things should be this way, just because I was taught this in church" you might want to reevaluate your views. I encourage Christian's to be willing to research Science, after all, the definition of Science (according to the Oxford Dictionary) is : "the intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behavior of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment." Shouldn't we as Christians look at the world around us and find the truth that God really does exist? I believe we can. 2 Timothy 4:1-4 I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: 2 Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. 5 But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry. Romans 1:19-20 19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse

I miss the old CTF blogs. I liked how they didn't disappear as fast as forum posts did and that they were more easily accessible, especially when I just wanted something to refer back to or a thought to refer people to. And blogs are just great all around. Anyone else think similarly?
