Launch Man Group posted a topic in God, Church & Faith2 Corinthians 10:5 NIV 5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. Our ability to "take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ" determines our quality of life and effectiveness as Christians. Taking every thought captive means: Knowing the Scriptures - Ask God to share with you a study plan (John 14:26; James 1:5). He will! Be careful about looking to others and copying their plan. When it comes to spiritual development, God doesn't cut and paste (2 Corinthians 3:18). He sees you as a special unique individual and meets you right where you are (1 Corinthians 9:19-23). Don't let anyone guilt you into three-hours-a-day or make you think the plan God does give you is somehow not "good enough." Follow God. Know the root of your pain - Remember, there's nothing wrong with being hurt or angry (Ephesians 4:26). We only sin when we allow bitterness, unforgiveness, retaliation, etc. to take over. How we react or what we say when angry or hurt can tell us what scriptures we should believe in, memorize, and recite (this is our spiritual warfare!). There are six basic human needs: nurture, acceptance, security, competence, independence, and impact. When we're angry or hurt, we need to ask God to show us in which of these areas (there could be more than one) we've been wounded, and apply Scripture there. For instance, if someone did something that triggered you to think, "I'm stupid," that could deal with acceptance, security, competence, and impact. A great scripture that could target one or more of these areas is, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Philippians 4:13)." I battled feeling inadequate for much of my life. Believing in, memorizing, and reciting this scripture helped heal my heart! Get support - These forums are a great tool. Sometimes we need help (probably most times) to heal from things that happen to us. Hearing the experiences of others can help us feel understood, have our feelings affirmed, and give us a road map for how to walk through the storm (Revelation 12:11). God doesn't promise we won't go through nasty things in our lives, just that if we hold on to Him, we'll make it through (Matthew 7:24-27; John 16:33)! Follow your plan - Faith without works is dead (James 2:14-26). If you want to get free and stay free from damaging thoughts, then you must continually feed upon the Word of God and apply it (Philippians 4:6-8; 2 Timothy 2:15). There is no other way. There are other factors, but this will definitely get you started! Feel free to post questions and I'll do my best to address them. I may recommend a resource you can use or link you to someone smarter or more experienced than me Either way, I'll be here for you to the best of my ability! My best, Marius
Soulaire posted a topic in Studies, Sermons & DevotionalsA few weeks ago, I was studying and wrote out about 6 pages of notes on notebook paper. Here is the copy of those notes: Deliverance quite literally means - "Set free and set at liberty; Rescued from evil; The act of freeing or the state of being delivered." To begin to understand the process of Deliverance, it is good to learn what starts the addictions, conditioning, obsessions, and other strongholds in your life. I'll explain the basics of that process first: Seducing spirits condition a person with imprinting, fixations, subliminal suggestions, and beguilement, until the person's mind becomes thoroughly fascinated and obsessed with the focus of that conditioning- whether it be pornography, sexuality, drugs, or many other things. God's Word reveals to us what real sin is, How to be saved, and Who our Deliverer is. It must be the Word that reveals to us that we need healing and deliverance, and it also tells us that we CAN have it. When we take his Living Word as truth and turn from or desire to turn from our sin, we are ready for Healing and Deliverance. If you need to be delivered from any perverse lifestyle, habit, or stronghold, you must submit to God and His Word as the Whole Truth and it will allow you to resist the temptations against you. (James 4:7) As we humble ourselves and submit to God's hands, His hands heal, deliver, and work with great might within us. Realize that it's having Real, Godly knowledge of His Word that keeps us from being destroyed (Hosea 4:6). Reading the Bible and believing God's promises are essential to your healing. The same power that Jesus used to heal and deliver people is still active and available today. He wants you to willingly come to Him for healing and deliverance. In fact, you need to be delivered from whatever goes against God's Word and hold you in ANY kind of bondage. God has given us His Word, which directs our footsteps and tells us of His Will for our lives (Psalm 119:105). (Matthew 6:13) The Lord's Prayer tells us that we need deliverance from evil. And right now, you may be thinking, "What is Evil?" Evil is whatever is harmful, distressing, or disastrous (this is a light description, and and a short one). And yes, evil may seem enjoyable for a while, but there are always consequences for dipping into that darkness. If you do not see your lifestyle or habits as wrongful, evil, or harmful to yourself and/or even others, in some cases, you should pray for guidance from the Lord, that your eyes might be opened with understanding. It is very hard to be healed or delivered from something that you don't fully believe is truly harming you or others in some way. This may not be easy to hear, but truth is truth, and truth will set you free. (2 Corinthians 5:10 and Romans 14:12) You may also be thinking, "Why doesn't healing and deliverance just come easily?" Healing and Deliverance, as the finished work of Christ, are available at ANY time. But something gained easily may be taken for granted, and you may not protect or cherish it as fervently as something gained through hard work, trials, and tribulations. Faith is something that grows, and God may want to see your faith in action (Romans 1:17) "The just shall live by faith" Now you might ask, "How do you get faith or how do you increase it?" You must ask God to give it to you (Luke 17:5-6). Developing and walking in real faith will take you to staggering heights (Hebrews 11). But even if you have a tine bit of Faith, God will honor it. Healing and deliverance come to you when you obey God's teachings, and believe that you must change the wrong, and that you can change the wrong or harmful lifestyle, habit, and/or stronghold though God. Accept with Confidence that the Word is true and He will do the changing work that needs to be done in you. Remember that receiving your healing takes a Personal decision, an act of Your Will that starts in the mind (Colossians 3:1-3) The process of deliverance will require patience, faith, and determination. It doesn't matter that you are an overcomer right now, but have faith that you are and will be! (Romans 8:37) Remember- "We walk by faith and not by sight" (2 Corinthians 5:7) Feeling that victory comes as we believe that God has given us the victory, and as we walk in that faith. Be ready to reject fretting and fears which may hinder you (2 Timothy 1:7). Relax and prepare your mind to receive (Matthew 11:28-29) Forgiveness also ties into being healed and delivered. Forgiveness means totally forgiving anyone, pardoning them, as the Lord commands us to do. The Lord has forgiven us, if we have asked Him to. And we must walk with that same mind of forgiveness towards others if we ourselves want to be blessed and forgiven (Ephesians 4:32) It's also important to know that God loves everyone, and He wants us to obey and Love Him. The whole world looks for love, and wants it's benefits. But only the Love of God is pure love: everything else is only temporary. But God doesn't condone anything that doesn't line up with His Will and Word. Nor does the Lord force any of us to change our lives. But realize that letting go of anything that keeps you out of God's will is real spiritual growth. (Psalm 23:1-3 and 2 Corinthians 12:10) After salvation takes place in your life, your lifestyle and habits must change, with God's help. You are not alone, especially in the process of delivery and healing. Without our Loving Father, we can do nothing (John 15:5), but with our Lord; we can do all things through Him who gives us strength (Phillippians 4:13). Deliverance can only come as you put yourself in God's hands and stay there, not looking or going back to your old bondages. Remember Lot's Wife? (Nehemiah 8:10) But even after salvation, we still have our flesh to feast further in the fullness of spiritual joy. The enemy knows how to manipulate the mind, to deceive, confuse, desensitize, and otherwise make us vulnerable to old perversions, habits, and strongholds of influence. But as you hunger and feast in God's joy and Presence, your old perversions will have no power over you. Never trust the flesh if you want complete, continued victory (Jeremiah 17:9) (Matthew 25:1-10) (1 Samuel 10:6-9) A person's whole Nature can be changed by God. Other scriptures that define and restate what is said here. (Hebrews 4:14) (Psalm 107:20) (2 Corinthians 10:5) (Psalm 139:23-24) (Isaiah 41:10) (Phillippians 3:13-14) (Matthew 9:20-22) (1 Samuel 17:47)
OK, so I was recently wondering this, well not really recently, I've wondered this for a long time, and have just been putting it off. =/ but I feel it's time to ask. OK So Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Heb 11:1) The way I've been using it is basically: If all else fails, Then, faith. Which is a good way to use it! I don't use it much, I use it when contemplating the trinity, because from the scriptures I know that: Jesus is God, God is spirit, and Spirit is Jesus. However, I have no idea how that works! XD but I can still take it as fact because of my faith. But I've been wondering about, the fact that when Jesus healed people: (Mark 5:34), (Matt 5:28), (Mark 10:52)... Etc, He said: "Your faith has healed you" It's also written: "So Jesus said to them, "Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you." (Mat 17:20) In this Jesus is using faith, as not only a last resort, but as a power or a means, of getting things done. This confuses me, I mean If God told me: 'Tomorrow, I'm going to move Pike's peek(a mountain)into your back yard" Then I would have faith that it would be done! and would start inviting friends over to see it! But it wouldn't be my faith that was moving it? I would simply have faith that God was moving it? How is Jesus saying: "It is your faith that has done this or that" When it was Jesus doing it, and you simply had faith? I've never understood this, and lol just took it on faith. XD But now I'm curious, has anyone ever wondered this? Do you know what the answer is? Any input is welcome! God bless!!!
