  1. It's been out for a few weeks now... but what did everyone think of the latest Star Wars film? I was pretty disappointed - I don't consider it Star Wars canon. I think it deserves perhaps 4/10.
  2. Hi, I am very excited to watch Thor Ragnarok. I am watching the movie tonight. The tickets are booked earlier at Cinceo20 Cinema Bahrain. It's the first time I am watching a movie since we moved to Bahrain. Where are you watching the latest Marvel movie?

    Better Actor Or Singer?

Do you think these people are better actors or singers?

    Horror?

Is this genre even allowed on a Christian site? Idk; if it's not, I didn't know, just delete it. gave a brief look at the rules, I believe it's fine. I was going to post this in the film section.. but.. considering that over 90% of the movies in this genre are rated "R" and you only have to be 13 to join ctf, and can get on even younger if your parents approve, well.. I figured it would be safer if I posted it here. I know this isn't really what you think of when you think of 16+ topics. xD So, I just finished watching the last exorcism part 2.. rented from red box, pretty sure it's R.. not positive because red box didn't prompt, which it usually does.. ugh, hang on.. *looks it up* ... haha! I stick at research.. I have no idea what it's rated. xD would NOT recommend for 13 and under.. Anywho, am I just weird for liking horror? Idk, I mean I don't really like much "gory" horror, I prefer just plain simple, scary, ooooh! and I love special effects! I put up with the gore, because that's normally where you find the best special effects.. save for insidious.. BEST HORROR MOVIE EVER!!! sure to be a classic.. Anyway back the the last exorcism part 2. I rather enjoyed it, it used all the same actors from the original one.. err, ya know, all the ones that lived.. which.. there was only one.. =/ but they found a way to get two in there! ;D it gave meaning to the first one; which imo was horrible.. the ending stunk.. but of course, they didn't tell you it was split into two parts! the second one made the first one.. though.. still not the best out there.. speaking of the best, is there anyone else out there that enjoys horror movies, and could make some good off the wall suggestions for meh? I think I've seen all the classics.. Btw, if you have ever heard that the first movie called: "The exorcist" was a classic, don't listen to them.. at the end you'll think you wasted 2 hours of your life.. is it a classic? yes, because it brought forth a lot of good movies, but was itself a good movie? ehh.. it was perverted.. you can go your entire life without watching that horror, and you'll live.. unlike the exorcist; who killed himself, because he didn't have the sense to have a chicken with him.. Everyone knows you need a chicken to have an exorcism!

    Favorite Chick Flicks

Do you have a favorite chick flick? Care to share about it? My personal favorite is "Kate and Leopold", with Meg Ryan and Hugh Jackman, a great movie about a guy who finds a hole in the fabric of time and steps back into the 19th century... and is followed back to the 21st century by an 1800s duke! The ex-girlfriend of the time-traveller and the confused duke form an unlikely bond between them, and gradually fall in love. The only problem is, she doesn't believe he is who he says he is... and soon he must return to his own world!
  6. I would like to reccommend "Grave of the fireflies". It's a Japanese animation movie about life of two siblings after their mother died during World War II. The ending really makes me cry. Here's the link to the full movie:
  7. Please! I really need an opinion! Would you use an app that tells you how much you would like some perfume smell in percentage probability. It might be helpful when you can't try a perfume for some reason. For example when a perfume is in a box and there is no tester or when you see one in a commercial. Another option to use it when you want to chose perfume for somebody else as a present. Would you use such a program for other products? food, book, clothes, music, movie, etc.? Let's say to buy or just to see prediction whether you like it or not. Thanks a lot!
  8. I'm not limiting this to antagonists. Let's discuss anti-heroes, tragic heroes, and other characters from the darker side of the spectrum (and how they can act as antagonists in stories). And, since antagonists aren't necessarily characters, we can discuss interesting conflicts in books and other media. The antagonist could be a force or an institution. It could be an inner conflict. I'm fascinated by antagonists in literature. I'd love to know how many of you feel the same way. Abigail
  9. NOTE: CTF does not endorse streaming anime or reading scans of manga on the internet. If you do not have access to a specific anime/manga, it is up to you to decide whether or not you want to sit out this particular round. NOTE 2: As both anime and manga are Japanese media, they often glorify and use the occult, witchcraft, demons, and other behaviors that may not seem appropriate or be suitable for all viewers. Please use your own personal judgement and Christian liberty when deciding whether or not it would be good for your Christian walk to join us watching these series. Hey guys, A little late, but as promised, I'll be taking the reins on the CTF Anime/Manga society. For those of you who don't know, anime is simply Japanese animation. It's like cartoons in Japan, except that they produce animation for people of all ages while people in the US tend to only produce them for children. Also Manga are graphic novels (think comic books) and they typically work the same way as anime. While you guys are free to discuss manga, I normally prefer anime, and that's what I'll be planning this watching around. So, let's start discussing how this'll work. As this is CTF, I want to avoid more explicit/violent animes. That'll be rough though because there is so much fan service in anime, and violence comes standard. As for format I have two ideas because we can't spend our whole time just watching anime. 1) Pick a series, commit to watching one 30-minute episode a day and post your reactions/discussions on the anime. (We'll keep this to anime that are 26 episodes or less so that we don't spend more than a month watching one, although we want to watch a longer one, that's cool.) You are free to watch ahead of the group, but you can't post spoilers in this thread. 2) Pick two movies to watch in a month. We'll discuss the first one in the first two weeks of the month and the second one in the second two weeks. Once again, you are free to watch ahead of the group, but you can't post spoilers in this thread. 3) Pick a long anime (27+ episodes) and we come up with a watching schedule for them. 4) For the future, we can take risks when the new seasons come out and watch the simulcasts that are available various places and try to watch concurrent anime (one episode a week) So I'm open to suggestions. Things I was thinking of starting out with though: *For option number one -> Bamboo Blade - My personal favorite anime of all time. Y'all can hate it, but I still love it. Also all episodes dubed1 and subed2 are available on Funimation online (using a United States IP address) -> Mushishi - I haven't watched this one all the way through, and it can get pretty dark, so I don't think it would be the best idea right away. *For option number two: -> Of course any two Miyazaki movies would be a great way to start this out, but they'll be hard to get ahold of. *For option three: -> I would love to watch Fullmetal Alchemist and Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood and do a comparison and contrast thing. -> Avatar the Last Airbender/Legend of Korra would be fun even though they're American animation Those are all my ideas that I'm willing to throw out. I know tons and tons more anime that we could watch. I just don't know how the temperament of CTF is and what we'd want to do as a group. 1) Dubed means that English voice actors re-recorded the dialogue in English. 2) Subed means that there are translated subtitles at the bottom of the screen.

    Films in 3D

Opinions on films shot/shown in 3D range from "...ugh" to "AHHHHH I CAN'T WAIT! ITS LIKE THE ACTORS ARE ACTUALLY IN THE THEATRE WITH YOU!!!" My personal opinion is that the hype over this is ridiculous, comparable to the increase in sales of "diamond-shaped" Chex cereal. But maybe some people here like the 3D? Let's hear your opinions. I voted: I don't like it - I think the film quality is worse. I don't like it - the glasses make my eyes hurt. This poll is multiple choice! You can choose more than one option.

Plot Summary: Blockbuster filmmaker Jon Favreau directs Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford in an event film for summer 2011 that crosses the classic Western with the alien-invasion movie in a blazingly original way: "Cowboys & Aliens." Joined by an arsenal of top moviemakers—Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard, Brian Grazer, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci—he brings an all-new action thriller that will take audiences into the Old West, where a lone cowboy leads an uprising against a terror from beyond our world. 1873. Arizona Territory. A stranger (Craig) with no memory of his past stumbles into the hard desert town of Absolution. The only hint to his history is a mysterious shackle that encircles one wrist. What he discovers is that the people of Absolution don't welcome strangers, and nobody makes a move on its streets unless ordered to do so by the iron-fisted Colonel Dolarhyde (Ford). It's a town that lives in fear. But Absolution is about to experience fear it can scarcely comprehend as the desolate city is attacked by marauders from the sky. Screaming down with breathtaking velocity and blinding lights to abduct the helpless one by one, these monsters challenge everything the residents have ever known. Now, the stranger they rejected is their only hope for salvation. As this gunslinger slowly starts to remember who he is and where he's been, he realizes he holds a secret that could give the town a fighting chance against the alien force. With the help of the elusive traveler Ella (Olivia Wilde), he pulls together a posse comprised of former opponents—townsfolk, Dolarhyde and his boys, outlaws and Apache warriors—all in danger of annihilation. United against a common enemy, they will prepare for an epic showdown for survival.
