We condition and work out more than any of our other school teams, so its annoying when people say its such a wimpy sport. its pretty intense! I love how its such a team sport. Anybody else? I would like to see them dig a ball that has just been spiked inside the 10 foot line. Awesome team sport, involves a lot of skill hand eye coordination and endurance. It is such a great team sport because there is a roll for everyone. If you tend to enjoy attacking, then you can spike in the front row. If you are more of a support player, yet want to influence your team greatly then go setter. I love the intense dives where you land flat out and know that ball went flying back over the net or to a teammate, who you know was right by you to back you up! Setting took me a while to get down,but I've practiced and practiced...and had many jammed fingers. But it was worth it. We have a great setter right now too. She's amazing. Milly Posted April 18, 2008 Author Share Posted April 18, 2008 We were actually JV Champs, Varsity came in a close second. however, bear in mind its a smaller league of about 7 teams or so, many are really good so we had a ton of fun! it was really close. I go to a really small public school, and not enough people play sports to force us to have tryouts. I usually play either side front row. I can't set, but I get some hard spikes down. I was a setter (Being 5'1", you can't really be a middle blocker or an outside hitter, haha) and right side hitter when someone else back set.
