Movie Recommendations

This isn't a thread to list a million of your favorite movies, or to review just any movie.

This is to recommend a film you've seen that was well worth watching.

Also, please no debating/arguing over whether a movie is awesome or not. I'd really like to keep this thread as orderly and clean as possible. :) You however, can post about the same movie someone else has (because different views are awesome), but please follow the guidelines:

1. Movie Title & Release Year

2. Picture of the Cover (if possible)

3. Rating

4. Genre

5. Couple of the main actors/actresses

6. A very brief summary (No spoilers!)

7. Why you liked it and would recommend it. (and any other information you feel is important about it)

Note: Please acknowledge that this is a Christian site, and don't post blatantly "unChristian" films. (Examples: Brokeback Mountain, Zack and Miri Make a Porno)

I'll start! I saw this just last week. =)

1. My Sister's Keeper (2009)

2. mysisterskeeper290.jpg

3. Rating: PG-13

4. Family/Drama

5. Abigail Breslin, Cameron Diaz

6. Summary- Anna Fitzgerald looks to earn medical emancipation from her parents who until now have relied on their youngest child to help their leukemia-stricken daughter Kate remain alive. (From IMDb)

7. I really loved this movie because it really lets you see all the different emotions and reactions in this family who's daughter has cancer. You go through alot of stuff with them...you could despise one character one moment and in the next feel terrible for them. It's a bit of an emotional roller coaster- you'll laugh and cry and get angry. It's not a happy-go-lucky movie, but it's definitely a really good story. =]

Black Dynamite (2008)

black-dynamite-hits-theaters.jpg

Rating: 14A (does contain brief nudity, and profane language though)

Genre: Comedy

Starring: Michael Jai White

Summery: Meet Black Dynamite, the smoothest baddest cat on the street. He's a ladies' man and the man with a plan. He's also a former CIA agent out to avenge his brothers death. Whether he's taking down drug dealers, or sweet talking foxy mamas, he's the man out to stop The Man. Take a wild ride from the mean streets of the ghetto to some funky clubs downtown, all te way to the "Honky House" with this tough as nails action hero.

Thoughts: This is the funniest movie ever made. It's incredibly quotable (Fiedish Dr. Wu, I should have known. Your passion for biological transmorgifications is only matched by your zest for Kung-Fu treachery!), and you can watch it over and over without it ever getting old.

1. The Island (2005)

2.

3. PG-13 (There are some sexual scenes but if they were removed it would be a great movie. I think there might be some cursing otherwise it is clean. Oh how I miss cleanflix!)

4. Sci-Fi Action

5. Ewan McGregor, Sean Bean, Scarlet Johanson

6. Ewan's character makes a run for it when he learns that everything he thought he knew was a lie. He is a clone. He was created for his organs.

7. I was extremley pleased with the overall message of this movie. IT is extremley anti-cloning. There is a subtle almost Christian pro-life undertone, however I might be giving the makers too much credit on that account. Basically the point of the movie is that clones are unique people too, they might look the same as who they are a clone of but they have their own soul. They are people. Great movie on that account and story wise. Highly recomended except for the sexual scenes but those can be skipped.

1. Ip Man (2008)

2.MV5BMjE0NDUzMDcyOF5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwNzAxMTA2Mw_V1_SX640_SY924_.jpg

3. R (For Martial Arts violence which isn't so bad anyways. In fact, this movie is truly over-rated by the MPAA. Not a whole lot of bad language)

4. Martial Arts. Historical Reenactment. (Based on a true story. Ip Man was actually Bruce Lee's Teacher in real life)

5. Donnie Yen

6. Basically, this movie is set in the mid 1930's during the time that the Japanese over-run China, and begin to brutally murder many many Chinese, and try to destroy Chinese Culture. Ip Man, A master at Wing Chun, a form of martial arts, lives a quiet life and is soon forced to bring peace in China with Martial Arts, by uniting the Chinese people in rebellion against the Japanese. Throughout the movie, you see how slowly, everything Ip Man knew as his normal life, is slowly being taken away.

7. This Movie is absolutely EPIC. I mean seriously, Martial Arts galore. If you like fighting but with a good guy who is extremely hard to hate and is completely selfless and also being mostly A TRUE STORY, then you should really watch this movie.

Its in Cantonese, so it has subtitles, but really, that doesn't take away any epicness from it. Its a great story, and anyone can love it.
