Disturbing Thoughts...

Recommended Posts

Okay, I feel really bad about this, as if I'm an extreme sicko. But here it is:

I was masturbating (I know its a sin, I'm trying desperately to stop) and randomly a picture of my dad sucking a penis popped into my head. This disturbed me deeply, I was disgusted at the image and myself for somehow thinking it up. It stayed for less than a second, but I was extremely disturbed at the image. I'm not gay, and I do not want therapy. Someone told me I'm blowing this out of proportion, by thinking about it too much and worrying too much. It just lasted a second, and it disgusted me, so I know its bad, and not to do it.

Can someone please say something to help me feel better? PLEASE?

No criticism please. I'm trying to quit masturbation, but kept failing. Is God punishing me? I feel trapped right now, and deeply depressed. Help me.

Hey!

So im not here to tell you masturbation is wrong or why were u doing it or wht not. My input is that it was just a second long thought. Just because u had one small stupid thought doesnt make you gay, disgusting, or a freak. Now, Im not saying your thought at all was a good thought because thats pretty disgusting. However, it lasted a second and it has passed so no need to make a big deal out of it.

Also, assuming that your opinion on masturbation is probably thinking that masturbation is wrong, your mind (or better yet, God!) probably sent as a "omygosh u know this is wrong so why are u doing it?" thought. It's like getting caught without getting caught. U know what i mean? Anyway, I see it as maybe a thought that maybe your mind felt like you shouldnt masturbate even tho u yourself wanted too. Idk, its complicated lol. PM Me if you need someone to talk with :)

You should not make a big deal out of this considering how many thoughts pop into our heads daily. It only becomes an issue if you entertain the thought.

Most people that look at the really messed up porn didn't start off there.

Like all people, they probably started light and moved more until it took something else.

Sin has a tendency to expand and develop rapidly into what you never intended or desired.

My suggest is pray for your thought life and watch your eyes and continue to bounce them away from immoral thoughts, girls, and images. Not to them, but as far away as possible.

His grace is sufficient for your every need.

ok...We all have a disturbing thought at some point in our lives. But the fact that you label it "disturbing" should provide comfort in and of itself. You know it was disturbing. You know it wasn't something you'd ever want to do. And so yes, it popped into your head, and probably because of the lustfulness you've been allowing into your life, lustful themes and such. This doesn't mean you were lustful after your dad, but its like you opened a garbage can to eat half-eaten burgers and you saw a half-eaten chicken sandwich. This would be expected to be found in the garbage can, but that doesn't mean you want to eat it. You still have choices to make.

Now first off, don't let this propel you to prove to yourself that you are only attracted to women and expose yourself to lusting after them more to make yourself feel normal. It'll just make things worse.

Second don't become Pure-OCD about this. I have Pure-OCD and so I have become fearful of being incestuous, homosexual, pedophilic, and just perverted in general. We mustn't live in fear. God does not want us to fear sin. Do not hate sin. Hating sin will not help you defeat it. The way you defeat sin is by loving God. And that is the only way to really fix your lust problem. Surrender this fear to God, have faith that you won't become anything He doesn't want you to be. Do not worry about being gay. The more you worry, the more you will think about it, the more you think about it, the more likely images are apt to show up making you only feel worse. I guarantee that if you just move on, and drop this, you will live a perfectly normal heterosexual life.

I recently I have dealt with the fear of some weird thought that popped in my head about 8 months ago. I wasn't masturbating, but it was a weird thought that I had that seemed to have no reason for it coming up. And then I worried I was homosexual, kept checking to see if I had an erection. I literally was worrying about something that happened that long ago all day today. But then I realized that between then and now I had not been gay. When i had the thought I was freaked out by it, but i somehow put it away. I have a girlfriend, am interested in only girls, and so now I have come to accept the fact that it was just a weird thought that came to my mind. Ya it was weird, but I know I had no desire for it. And desire is what its all about man. And time has been my testimony to show it had no effect on me. I'm just going to walk on faith in this matter, trusting God to hold me on the path He wants for me.

So defeat your lustfulness. And do not fear being gay. Because you simply are not.

Something you should know: we all face our battles. Those instantaneous thoughts that simply flash in and out of your head aren't yours, I think. We have three sources of thoughts: ourselves, the world around us, and the spiritual realm. Just as God sometimes gives us a thought--one that sticks with us--so also Satan can do the same. He cannot read your mind and he is not all powerful, but he can tempt you or make you feel guilty.

You were disgusted at the image? Good. As long as you didn't dwell on it (or any other thought, for that matter) you're alright. Thoughts only become sin when they are lusted after, which necessitates dwelling on them first. Satan likes to press our panic buttons with the thoughts he knows will hit us the worst--the ones we'll worry about and fret over. Then, when we're tired, we're that much more open to attack and less able to spiritually defend ourselves.

God is not punishing you, I think. If your masturbation is tied to lust, He wants you to quit. Try reading some of the Psalms, but especially Psalm 51 and 103. Those two are especially good. Then, keep giving this worry (and your masturbation) over to God. Do that as often as you need to--even multiple times a day. In the meantime, keep your focus on God: who He is, what He has done, what His promises are, how He's going to help you, etc.

It WILL turn out alright. If you'd like to talk, please PM me.

no. thoughts are just thoughts. i have ocd, i know how that works, trust me. it does not make you gay or incestual. don't freak out. if you have recurring thoughts like this, talk to a therapist about ocd. it's not a big big deal.

Wait a minute! Are you saying that it is okay to lust after someone and we should just "brush it off" as if nothing happened? When we fall we need to seek out God for forgivness immediately and then strive with all that we have to not fall back into that sin. This is something more than just a "kinky" thought.

To Cheeseisgoodlol: I hope that you are sustaing from this sin, my brother. I know that it is a difficult battle, but I just want to encourage you to keep on trusting in the Lord and continue to focus more on the things of God instead of the things of man. Feel free to message me anytime brother.

I thought I'd let you know I'm going to do everything in my power to get you kicked off this part of the forum. So if one day you come on CTF and you can't come in here, just know that it was me. ;)

Oh and anyone who reads what this guy has to say, disregard it because it will more than likely be based off of his personal beliefs then Biblical doctrine.

Considering everything in your powerful isn't very much, I wouldn't worry about it.

His thought was was not lust. He was not lusting after his father for that brief second. His thought was nothing. It is our actions that define us, not our thoughts. For I could think about dropping a nuclear bomb ontop of New York City right now. ( There goes the Statue of Liberty! ). Does not mean I will, does not mean I want to. Do not accuse him of thought crime. It is natural to think of our parents in a sexual situation, for it becomes obvious that those situations had to have existed seeing as you are alive. It is an odd situation to picture, hence why we do it. How often have you been asked " imagine if x z and y happened? ". This is one of those things. He imagined, it wasnt nice, leave him be. /Rant over.
