Looking for the most hardcore verse in the bible

46 posts in this topic

Here's the deal, I'm training to be a full-time MMA fighter, and have some pretty intimidating tattoos, but I want one on my back that shows my Christian faith, but still shows I am all business.

So, what is the most aggresive verse in the bible, that shows Jesus as the hardcore dude He really is, so I can get it inked before my next fight.

Much appreciated. :)

Rev 19:11-21 KJV

(11) And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.

(12) His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.

(13) And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.

(14) And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.

(15) And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

(16) And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

(17) And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God;

(18) That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great.

(19) And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.

(20) And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.

(21) And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh.

Rev 19:11-21 GW

(11) I saw heaven standing open. There was a white horse, and its rider is named Faithful and True. With integrity he judges and wages war.

(12) His eyes are flames of fire. On his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him, but only he knows what it is.

(13) He wears clothes dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God.

(14) The armies of heaven, wearing pure, white linen, follow him on white horses.

(15) A sharp sword comes out of his mouth to defeat the nations. He will rule them with an iron scepter and tread the winepress of the fierce anger of God Almighty.

(16) On his clothes and his thigh he has a name written: King of kings and Lord of lords.

(17) I saw an angel standing in the sun. He cried out in a loud voice to all the birds flying overhead, "Come! Gather for the great banquet of God.

(18) Eat the flesh of kings, generals, warriors, horses and their riders, and all free people and slaves, both important or insignificant people."

(19) I saw the beast, the kings of the earth, and their armies gathered to wage war against the rider on the horse and his army.

(20) The beast and the false prophet who had done miracles for the beast were captured. By these miracles the false prophet had deceived those who had the brand of the beast and worshiped its statue. Both of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur.

(21) The rider on the horse killed the rest with the sword that came out of his mouth. All the birds gorged themselves on the flesh of those who had been killed.

----

2Ki 19:35 KJV

(35) And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the LORD went out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.

2Ki 19:35 ESV

(35) And that night the angel of the LORD went out and struck down 185,000 in the camp of the Assyrians. And when people arose early in the morning, behold, these were all dead bodies.

----

Psa 18:34-42 GW

(34) He trains my hands for battle so that my arms can bend an archer's bow of bronze.

(35) You have given me the shield of your salvation. Your right hand supports me. Your gentleness makes me great.

(36) You make a wide path for me to walk on so that my feet do not slip.

(37) I chased my enemies and caught up with them. I did not return until I had ended their lives.

(38) I wounded them so badly that they were unable to get up. They fell under my feet.

(39) You armed me with strength for battle. You made my opponents bow at my feet.

(40) You made my enemies turn their backs to me, and I destroyed those who hated me.

(41) They cried out for help, but there was no one to save them. They cried out to the LORD, but he did not answer them.

(42) I beat them into a powder as fine as the dust blown by the wind. I threw them out as though they were dirt on the streets.

Any of these hardcore enough for ya? (Particularly Psalm 18, above)?

Jesus was not hardcore.

Au contraire, Jesus was a rebel, when you think about it. He was very open in his denunciation of the religious leaders of the day. However, I don't think He was very violent, and I don't agree with the purpose of this thread.

hard-core: intensely loyal[/b]

He certainly was hardcore when it came to His Father and His beliefs.

Yes, but He was not hardcore, being rebellious towards flawed ideals does not make one hardcore, but rather rebellious.... And I dont like how the "come to bring a sword" verse has been taken out of context. I certainly hope you dont wear that verse on your back or people will most likely get the wrong idea of some of the things Jesus preached.

In Truth Jesus was not a rebel, He was the authority because He was God Himself, the pharisees were the rebels who refused to follow Jesus. From the perspective of the pharisees He may have been a rebel, but I do not prefer to see things from their perspective.

Although, you can see how He would be considered "rebellious" seeing as rebellion is normally against the status quo or a political power. Jesus did rebel against a political power with authority, therefore making him somewhat of a "rebel." But I must add, I do not see Jesus as a rebel the way some people like to.

I think people want to picture Jesus as something different then what He was, when in the end He was simply, Holy, Perfect, Loving, etc. He was not a tough guy, He was not hardcore, He was rather a man that no man would find any beauty or majesty to attract us to Him, and nothing in His appearance that we should desire Him.

I think if you want to apply the Gospel to your MMA career. Try putting a verse on your back that truly shows what Jesus was really all about.

Ah, I must add, Ive always loved the "Jesus didn't tap" team.

This isn't the debate forum. If you'd like to debate whether Jesus was a rebel or not, I encourage you to make a new topic. This one is about tattoos.

If Jesus was so hardcore why have we not yet found one passage that the OP is looking for? Jesus never said anything hardcore, just authoritative.

Jesus was a [mod edit].

He was indeed hardcore, for the Father.

As for verses, maybe the OP just hasn't replied yet... I personally like some of the psalm 18 verses.

Same here. On both ends (training to be an MMA fighter and getting christian tattoos)

I was thinking of running something like this down the right side of my rib cage:

From-jesusdidnttap.com

When Jesus stepped inside the cage of life to take on the cross, human legs did not kicked his out from under him. It was not human hands that broke his arm during the arm bar of adversity. It was not a human fist that knocked him to the mat for our sins. It was not a human that kept him inside the triangle choke of suffering. It was not the fighter's sent by Satan to tap him out that beat him.

God gave him strength while on his back being pounded in the face by the elbows of sin. Those same hands that formed the universe. Those same hands that held you and me before the foundation of the world.

Take a jog out to the mountain of the skull. Out to the cross where, with holy blood, the hand that placed you on the planet wrote the promise, “God would give up his only Son before he'd Tap Out on you.

Truly, Jesus Didn't Tap! – Are you tapping out on him?

Remember, it is called a fight for a reason. However, we fight from victory not for victory. Keep Fighting!

--------

I personally plan on running that down my ribs, something on my left brest, and something like this on my right bicep, with "I Am His" written in Latin underneath:

Did not answer my question. What is hardcore?[/b]

Idk, google it and see what shows up. (Hardcore rock, hardcore skateboarding, hardcore fighting, hardcore porn etc.)

And you still havn't answered the OP's question... It's impossible to do however, so it's fine.

Well, one can't when one does not know the definition of hardcore. You don't know your own definition so how can you say that there is none? :)

The best definition of "hardcore" I can think of is what is applied to this world today. "Hardcore" is always used in a sort of, "extreme, stick it to em" kind of way. So, my definition of hardcore would be, a tough bad ass. For someone to call a human being, "hardcore" I immediately think of a big tough guy, possibly with rings through his nose.

When you think of hardcore skateboarding, one may see extreme skateboarding with extreme moves. Hardcore porn, well...

By my definition Jesus was not hardcore, very peaceful. Sometimes rebellious to the staus quo, but not hardcore.
