HaleyGirl16
I'm trying to find something to have my senior pictures taken in. Since I don't wear pants majority (98%) of the time, I would obviously prefer a dress or a skirt and top (I'd prefer a dress over a skirt and top). Only problem around here, is the retail dresses are too short, too low cut, or both. And when I type in modest online I'm automatically forwarded to something like, This: I'm not Amish and I don't plan to dress like it, especially for my senior pictures. So ladies, help. I'm trying to find something: Modest. No cleavage showing and absolutely no shorter than 4-5 inches below the knee. This is a must. Sleeves aren't an issue because I'll have on a denim jacket. Plus sized (XL-2XL). Another must because I'm a plus sized gal and unfortunately I have broad shoulders. Solid color. Preferably white Not over $75.00 Ideally, I will find a white, summery looking dress that will look cute with sandals and a denim jacket in an outdoor setting. I've been searching online all morning and can't find very much. Do you ladies know of any sites/stores where I can find a nice, modest, dress (or skirt and top) without paying an insane amount of money or looking like something that just stepped off of an Amish farm or out of an 1800 old west movie? Links and store names will be greatly appreciated. Also, any tips on another outfit that you think would look cute, modest, and cheaper than the way I'm thinking right now, suggest it/link to photos. ALSO, any tips for a hair style that I can do at home or have done at a beauty shop will be appreciated because I rarely fix my hair and am clueless. Zabby
Oh wow, this is hard. Finding the length is easy, you just have to look for Maxi dresses, but it's the top part I'm concerned about. I've got a few options for you, but honestly, with your body type (which I'm assuming you have one similar to mine because I'm a size 16 in dresses), you're going to need something with a well defined waist and kind of flows out from there and those are hard to find with modest tops. I did find this though: http://www.kohls.com/kohlsStore/landingpages/dressfinder/style/maxi/PRD~963016/SONOMA+life+++style+Crochet+Maxi+Dress.jsp http://www.jcpenney.com/jcp/X6.aspx?GrpTyp=PRD&ItemID=1de6b7d&DeptID=70656&CatID=80145&SO=0&SelDim=4294957900~&CatSel=4294933057|maxi&NOffset=0&Ne=4294957900+29+3+23+1031+1490+8+1545&x5view=1&N=4294933057&Nao=0&PSO=0&bcCat=3&CmCatId=70656|80145&sa=1 Good luck though Haley! HaleyGirl16
The one at Kohls.com I really really like in the yellow. Definitely talking to mom about that one. See my problem is, even if I find something with a fairly modest top, it has like a built in bra, and I don't have the chest needed to fill it out. So it looks awful. So really is a challenge. Thank you for the suggestions Zabby!
ksqt0509
This would be cute with a denim jacket and brown sandals. http://downeastbasics.com/blanketofflowersdress.aspx as would this http://downeastbasics.com/slouchedchiffondress.aspx or this http://downeastbasics.com/pleinairdress.aspx This is more expensive, but it's really cute, and vintage-y. http://www.shabbyapple.com/p-925-garden-isle.aspx This one is VERY simple, but with a denim jacket, colored sandals and a cute necklace I think it'd be really pretty. http://www.shabbyapple.com/p-1280-aintree.aspx This is an adorable white summer dress, you might need a slip with it though? I'm not sure. http://www.shabbyapple.com/p-620-bonheur.aspx This is pretty cute too, but it is probably too dressy for a denim jacket http://www.shabbyapple.com/p-761-ming.aspx This is a cute maxi style one http://www.shabbyapple.com/p-958-piazza-navona.aspx And this is a really adorable wrap style dress, it'd go great with a denim jacket. it's so cute! http://www.shabbyapple.com/p-1058-trade-winds.aspx Okay, I hope one of those might work! I had way too much fun with that.

Buoyancy
If you've got a smaller bust (D cup and under. speaking from experience, DD is really pushing the limits of this nifty little thing. WAH. ) and like cute, but lower cut outfits, you should get a camisole or a cami-secret. Camisoles run relatively cheap, depending on where you buy them. I once found some plain looking ones at Wal*Mart for about 10 dollars. They were a three pack. JCPenney had prettier ones for about 16 dollars a pop. Cami-secrets do the same thing, but without the layering. They snap onto the top of your bra. you get the layered look without the actual layering. I found mine at Bed Bath and Beyond. They're also at Sears, and you can PROBABLY find them at Walmart, or Khol's. I like Zabby's suggestion of a maxi dress. Maxi dresses are WONDERFUL. You could probably put a tank top under one and be set, especially considering you're going to wear a jacket over it. I like wearing a t-shirt under mine! mintchocochip
haley, that's a mennonite style dress amish usually wear plain colours i tried looking for a couple dresses but all of them were too short for your liking. HaleyGirl16
So update time. My dad got laid off from his job so we can't afford as much as previously thought. I did manage to find a long white skirt, but no top. The lady that is taking the pictures also suggests changing your outfit for a few scenes. So mom has talked me into wearing jeans and a little country looking blouse for a couple of scenes (I'm not happy about it but hey why not appease her for a few pictures). Thanks for all your help ladies. Oh, also, if you know of any hair styles that leaves most of my hair down that will look good on long hair I'd appreciate pictures, links, ect. HaleyGirl16
Thanks Um... natural? I guess. Cuz it's definitely not straight. It has curl in it, but it's not actually "curly" if that makes sense. It's more "wavy" i guess then anything. It frizzes easily.

Most of your hair's down, but it'll still be kept neat and under control and whatnot. My hair's crazy curly and frizzes really easily, and this tends to keep it under control
