Help me cut back on masturbation please

Recommended Posts

Hey guys I'm looking for one or a couple of people to talk to about helping me cut back on masturbating. I'll give a little background to help you decide if you would be interested and capable. I started masturbating way back around age 11 and at first I felt really guilty about it. But like with most guilty behaviors the more I did it the less guilty I felt until I rarely felt anything. Then several years later I'd find myself looking at pictures of questionable content. The same progression of guilt passed for this. Then the same went for video porn. Now I'm 18 and in college so I don't have the opportunities to view these things which I am glad of but summer is coming up and I will be more tempted then. I'm happy to say I haven't masturbated in 5 weeks which is a personal best. I only have this willpower because of a deal several of my friends and I made not to do it for all of lent. Most have failed but the incentive is still there for me. The problem I face now is increased lust in other areas since I haven't been able to relieve them in some time. This is why after lent I want help cutting back on my constant thoughts of lust. I'm not going to go cold turkey on masturbation but I do want to cut off all ties to porn. I'm looking for someone in a similar position as I to accomplish this goal and just to talk to about sex. I can't do it on my own but I am not ready to go to someone I know with this.

Pray. Read the Bible. Stay accountable. Keep yourself busy.

The more time you spend with the Lord, and the less time you have to waste, the less this will be an issue for you.

Once you are out of the habit, it is easier to stay out of the habit. Remain prayerful.

take up a hobby, like chess or something, and invest a lot of time into it, dont let it just be a "oh i play tennis once a fortnight" hobby, make the hobby an everyday thing, or take an existing hobby, and focus on that hobby a LOT.

I'm in a very similar situation to yourself sir, 20 years old, in college, fearing the summer!

I have just posted a thread looking to start a support group for guys like us.

Post on it if you're interested, it's called "Breaking Porn Addiction: Support Group"

We will be free!
