God-Sent Posted September 15, 2014 Coke dials up the 1990s nostalgiaCoca-Cola’s 1990s SURGE citrus drink is back by popular demand. The Mountain-Dew inspired soda, which debuted in 1996 but was discontinued in the early 2000s, has been the subject of a nostalgia-fueled online campaign to lobby the company to bring back the drink. http://time.com/3378044/coca-cola-surge/ I wouldn't mind trying it again. I remember it, but not the flavor.

God-Sent Posted September 16, 2014 So, was surge the precursor to Mello Yello or... what? I never drank it. Mello Yello came out first in '79 to compete with Mountain Dew which itself dates back to the 50's. Surge didn't come out until 1996-1997 though it was released for the same reason as Mello Yello which was to compete with Mountain Dew. Yes, I was a 90's kid... Proove it! jk

T.O.W.R. Posted September 16, 2014 I kinda remember Surge. I was 6-ish when it was discontinued and I don't remember ever having it, but I remember it. As for the T.V. shows, I was born a little too late for that. I'm glad it's coming back. Nostalgia is almost always a good thing.
