Post Your Poems Here!

I noticed there are no threads where we can post our poetry in the comments.

So here you go, post a poem that you wrote below. I'll post one of mines...PS. One of my shorter ones at least...I'm writing a poetry book currently titled "Eye of the Storm" so when it FINALLY gets published, feel free to support me by purchasing a copy ;)

Past The Expiration Date

You would never think relationships expire

With all these sitcoms of happy families,

They never show what happens when the cameras are off

My parents fell out of love, as easily as it took to fall in love

It didn’t happen in a quick explosion

It was the little sparks and smoke in the air that polluted my lungs

It was the smiling and late night scream fests that shook the roof

It was the “I’m sleeping in the other room” and the “I hate you”

As the date slowly approached,

I saw the cracks in their smiles

I saw the avoidance and detesting of one another

I heard the custody wars

They were like porcelain pots

Once overheated they began to meltdown

We all saw that they were about to expire

We just ignored it, hoping no one else would notice

Until the time ran out for all of us

that's a lovely poem.

I guess I'll post a couple of my random poems here. XD I usually write songs but sometimes I get something that is a poem instead.

Lost at sea beyond the stars
I forgot how small we are
Felt all my dreams coming true
Then they crashed like the rocky blue
I forgot how love is blind
And lost track of the time
I wasted trying to be
Everything you wanted of me

not sure what this one was lol

Walk along foot by foot
No one cares where you go
To the store or off a cliff
No one cares where you go
They rather you go off the cliff
Foot by foot
Close to the edge
Until someone pulls you back
Foot by foot
Toward something more
Hear the voices in the back of your head
Foot by foot back to the edge
Until someone save you again
Foot by foot to the edge
A hand grabs you and pulls you away
Foot by foot towards someone more
Gives you a kiss begs you to stay
A hug and something more.

Poem I wrote this morning:

The leaves, they all come falling down,

They change from colors green to brown

The colors of the trees are then

Increased; summer's at it's end.

But worry not about the summer,

For this next season is no bummer. Halloween,Thanksgiving are both in fall
And those are great, but that's not all.
Pumpkin, apples, and leaf piles,
You can see my joy for miles!
The scent of campfires fill the air
And if you camp watch out for bears.
So you see, my dear, why you should not worry,
Don't let your joy leave in a hurry.
For summer's great, but so is fall.
I love the seasons; I love them all!

Here's a poem I wrote today. I didn't know what to call it so my title isn't great.

Never Leaving

I remember You when I need You.

I blame you for all the pain, suffering, hurt, I feel

I sob as I kneel

“Lord why me? Why all these things?”

And then softly I hear Your voice.

“Child you chose your life.”

“I’ve never left you”

“I’ve always walked beside you too.”

“When you kicked me away.”

“When you hated me.”

“I’ve never left you.”

Sometimes I cry out to You in pain

I need You so desperately, I can’t do this alone

You are always near

You always wipe every tear.

Comforting, gentle, loving, strong

I cry in Your arms

You lift me up and make me strong

Without you I would fall

It’s to You I call.

And You remind me,

“Child, I’ve never left you.”

This is absolutely PERFECT, do you mind if I saved this in my phone? I just want to be able to read it whenever I want xD

I'm not trying to show bias, everyone here has posted some really inspiring poems. But yours kinda spoke to me, as I wrote a poem similar to yours. I just love it, thank you.

Are you an ee cummings fan, out of curiosity? That's always the first thing that pops into my head when I read stuff you've written.

(wrote this a while back; will look out some of my other poems to post soon)

Wave After Wave

Something within you asks something within me if it is awake;

and for a small, singular moment we are flesh of my flesh,

blood of my blood.

We are wave after wave:

continuous, cyclical, unending, whole.

I am dormant,

then shaken from my slumber by something within and the rough

kiss, warm on my neck.

I am no longer in the shallows but given over to the tide.

But, life is not always beautiful,

and rarely fair.

I have not loved in a little while.

Won't someone turn this water into wine?

Are you an ee cummings fan, out of curiosity? That's always the first thing that pops into my head when I read stuff you've written.

I've actually only read a few of his poems, but he's definitely an influence on me-- along with Emily Dickenson, Ezra Pound, Sylvia Plath, and Robert Frost.

"just. for. to. Ten."

Poetry is art on bent pages, Teach.

No reason to get excited for that.

Poetry is God and all he sees here.

His mother, whom never shows her face, is

but not called without sacrifice, Teacher.

It is both of them, see, see, see, see, Teach.

I write aboard the Polar Express - going.

I write when hard gales blow the ice from roofs.

This is not what I signed up for at all.

Mother, sister, brother - what a ride now!

God knows I cannot change; God knows I try.

God, are you hearing me? Is this all of me?

I shall ascend. Illuminance will come-!

Shine! Shine! Shine! Shining, O Northern Star.

Is this raving of madmen or God's own?

Oh my, I take twice as much - today's stress.

What is the matter with a puff, dagger?

Rest. Rest. Rest. Rest. Rest. I will rest easy.

I shall ascend. Illuminance will come-!

(This is not what I signed up for at all.)

(Poet) the mystery of life is art.

God sees only what he sees; that which is writ.

Poetry is art on bent pages, Teacher.

Soon. Those pages - to yellow and wither!

I cannot change. What will be left? Mad men-!

There is a space. There is a space. Out there.

A shimmering bubble, sustaining - growth.

God, are you hearing me? I feel you here.

This is what a little love will do. Peace.

Tranquil. A boat - bread and butter. (Poet)

"For Jacob"

And

there on a ferry,Very

fine tonight - and we toast

overlook - the tussle

of a black water.

we toast

the memory of what was.

or in a Civic

or in a hotel.

we are - we are here - we are.

we make mistakes - and

only children think they do not.

we make mistakes

, make memories.

And

there on a ferry - that secret vessel-

there - a ferry,Very

merry,or

kiss me under a streetlight

somewhere in downtown Birmingham.

we are - we are.

your hand

on the small of my back;

your smile, the wrinkles around your

eyes. We are

here,We are living.
