Has Anyone Figured This Out?

Recommended Posts

I'm not well-versed about technology and internet marketing. Has anyone figured this out? I'm quite confused with these phrases SEM (search engine marketing) and SEO (search engine optimization). Which is appropriate to use in relation to promoting of websites and increasing a site's visibility?

I think the idea is generally for website owners and developers. From what I know if it, SEO is getting your website to appear more often and closer to the top when someone searches for something related. Just with a quick search I found this article, which I think explains it pretty well. And I think SEM is a type of advertising which buy paying money, website owners can get their sites appear more often; according to Wikipedia, SEM usually incorporates forms of SEO.

That makes sense. Which one do you think is more important for a less than a year old blog that's aiming to earn in a few more months? My friend said I should hire someone to help me with SEO first and then when it's earning, add SEM.

I'm not sure, if you're friend is serious about this then he should seek out advice from an expert or someone who really knows what they're talking about.
