So me and my class are seniors this year. And as we have always been ones to try to come up with grand ideas, we must have a grand senior trip. A senior trip that will cost probably by the end $7,000 total. I know that may be relatively inexpensive compared to some, but its still a senior trip. Our school is a christian school, and my class has always been obsessed on being the most epic, remembered class. I feel that we should do a missions trip. How spoiled and selfish are we as christians when we are going to go splurge 7,000 dollars somewhere in Florida just goofing off.
If we did a missions trip, we would be able to raise much more money quickly via church support and more school support; we would leave an example for the following generations of students to come and do something truly revolutionary never done at the school before; we would help others instead of simply helping and rewarding ourselves...and for what? getting an education?; We would also inspire the school, the churches, parents, and students if we did this. I just don't understand why we don't. It is as if christianity has become a job we must take a vacation from. Plus, who says missions trips aren't fun? People even in my class have raved about ones they went on. What better way to grow closer to one another than in the service of God? I hope they will listen to me. Do any of you agree with me? If you do, can you provide some advise about going about it the best way so that they might agree also? |

I think that sounds like it could be a good idea, but good luck of convincing your fellow students. Is it a Christian school? Maybe you could suggest that you do a missions trip as well as a smaller-budget senior trip.

You could try do ask yrou school board or something about the mission trip! thats cool!
i went on a mission trip with my school for 10 days up in north queensland and the way we got that through was we offered to pay for it alot ourselves and stuff, and because of that our class gets to go on a mission trip to Fiji next year! which is gonna be cooL! but just keep persisting! (: |

How about suggesting doing the mission trip before or after the regular trip? So people can participate in both if they want to or chose which one they want to attend.I think you will get more takers as well as being listened to if you offer that as an option either before or after the trip instead of trying to override the senior trip all together.

Maybe you could do a joint senior trip/ mission trip. Like everyday have fun activities and outreach activities planned and people can choose which to do.

well, we aren't going to do a missions trip.....our class is a democracy and no one really wanted to do it. i still think it would be awesome, but I hold no hard feelings.
