Thanks for your reply jadeyxx. My OCD is back. now it's something else. i've started having these fears, that when i pray i'm afraid to repeat the same prayer request twice because i'm afraid that the second time might cancel out the first time. so i either try to pray about something once or and odd number of times. This really bothers me.please help! Oh and also my fears are back and they are taking over my life. I have a psychologist, but it's kind of embarassing to talk to her about this. I mean, i don't know...i'm just way to crazy. anyway, like i've said before, i'm always afraid that someone might get hurt or die because of me. and i already feel guilty and i can't even focus on anything, like hw because i'm so nervous. Like okay, i was wearing eyeliner yesterday, and then this fear popped into my head. like what if some other girl sees me wearing eyeliner, likes the way it looks, tries to use eyeliner too, and like pokes her eyes out and then becomes blind for the rest of her life, doesn't see a car coming, gets hit and dies. i'm serious. i was nervous about this all day yesterday. i mean, unlikely, yes. but it could happen. so isn't it kind of selfish of me to kep wearing eyeliner? and then i thought about me straightening my hair. i thought what if some girl sees that i straighten my hair, likes the way it looks, tries it too, and burns herself with the straightening iron. and it will all be my fault. and then yesterday, my friend told me she wanted to lose weight, so i told her to drink hot green tea after meals. and i said that if you drink anything hot, it helps digestion and speeds up metabolism. i hope she didn't think i meant boiling hot. and now i'm afraid she might drink boiling hot tea, burn all her insides and die or be sick for the rest of her life. this also really bothers me. i don't know what's wrong with me. i really need your help guys. thanks for taking the time to read my really long list of worries. and thanks in advance for your replies. ok you can 't let this ocd rule you. talk to your pshycologist. face your fears. don't let them get to you. wear eye liner, this is a common ocd fear, that is fear of hurting people. i have it severely. your fears are ridiculous, treat them as such. when you have the thought, think of michael jackson doing the moon walk or something funny, and most of all pray. we're praying. tell your pshycologist.

Thanks swampfox14.
You know, now that i think about it, you know what deep down my real fear is? I worry that someone might die because of me before they have a chance to know God. Like if they lived they would have accepted Jesus and been saved. And what if because of me someone dies and goes to Hell before they have a chance to be saved? *shivers* this really really scares me. |

You know what has been helping me is writing down my fears in a planner. i have this planner (it's actually a composition book) and anything that bothers me i write down in my planner. and then everyday i try to have 15 minutes (try is the key word-i usually end up having more),but anyway during this time i look at all the worries that have been bothering me and try to solve them. and if they are irrational then i just let them go. this has been really helping me. i keep my planner in my handbag. but today this thought just popped into my head, "what if someone finds my planner, reads about all my worries, starts worrying too, gets anxiety and like dies?" now i'm worried about that. i hope that doesn't happen because the planner thing is really helpful. anyway, swampfox14, you say you worry about people getting hurt too? I will keep praying for you. God has revealed many things to me, but i just haven't been really listening. First of all in the Bible, i read about how we shouldn't let fear have control over our lives. and another thing i read was that we need to identify our fears and talk about them with God. sometimes i just have anxiety, so when i sit down and rationalize why it is that i'm having this anxiety, i realize how foolish my worries are. and then i make a conscious decision to let go off them i my anxiety goes away. so yeah, i tell you to do all these things, but i'm kind of a hypocrite. anyway, i will keep trying to deal with my OCD and i'll pray that God gives you the strength to overcome yours. - your sister in Christ |

Can't believe I haven't found this thread until now.
I have OCD, and its not very extreme, but it does take over me sometimes. I have an obssession with arranging things perfectly. I need things to be symmetrical and pleasing to the eye...I even fold my garbage because I can't crumple it. It used to be worse before, but I think God is helping me get over some of my irrational fears. |

Ever see the TV show or read the books on Monk? (Obsessive Compulsive Detective) I've seen that. -- Right, what's the difference between OCD and just Obsession? Is OCD Obsession and anxiety combined? Is it possible to have mild cases of OCD or is it classed as obsession? And what is OCPD and how does it differ from OCD? Because i have a thing about giving explanations (medical terms) for why i am how i am: like there's been times where i've thought i've got OCD but when i think rationally, i just think that i'm just a bit obsessive about certain things. I'm fussy with food and germs and stuff: i don't like eating food people have touched, or get really annoyed when people leave the toilet seat up when they flush, hand washing, etc. I'm also a bit paranoid about locked doors or answering the phone, but that's because of some family issues, nothing to do with irrational thought. So, yeah, i was just wondering about those questions. I hope all of you with OCD can overcome it, or at least get better. |

don't let this stuff make you suicidal, woman of christ. see a doctor. that is your only thing you can do to help. he wont mess you up only help. Father bless young lady to find a doctor, and to be healed. In Christ's Name, amen.
until you find a doctor, don't let yourself obsess. say "its not a big deal," and walk on. listen to music, pray, and read inspirational verses. Jesus freak 93 you may or may not, like i told woman of Christ, see a doctor to find out. Christ gives us doctors, and you have power of this with His strength and through help of pshyciatrists, regular doctors, etc, never do anything that is wrong though like suicide or cutting or drugs. it makes it worse. pray about it. realise that hard times dont last long, and that you are not crayz, your mind chemicals just dont always connect right, so your thoughts resinate. okay so God will help you if you trust Christ, and see a doctor and therapist, or counselor. dont expect Him to heal you without your effort. here is my testimony and how i learned that the hard way and how God will heal me on my time if i try: at 2:30 in the video, but watch the whole thing its amazing from my church camp. i give my ocd testimony This post has been edited by swampfox14: Dec 28 2008, 03:13 PM |

I'd like to share my testimony, I've posted it elsewhere on here but no clue what thread that was in.
As a young kid I had OCD very badly. I would HAVE HAVE HAVE to hear EVERY word of a movie or show lest I freak out. if I could I'd rewind the tape several times to make sure I got the word or phrase I missed, and just have to do it one more time. I'd be upset if it was a tv program and somebody spoke over something I felt I needed to hear. When you walked in my bedroom the head of my bed was in the corner to your right. I'd sleep backwards so I could check the foot of my bed by the door and all around it every few seconds to be sure no intruder was in my room. I'd have to read EVERY word of a book, right down to the roman numeral publishing date or I'd be plagued with guilt. When I reached tweens or so, I really began to realize that this was controlling my life and the devil was really just twisting my mind. I knew it had to stop, and stop right there. So I prayed through it and the Lord quickly released me. It stopped, I stopped and the guilt ridden obsessive acts dissapated. Sure I still will be hit by those moments. When visiting my grammy's, who is deaf, I feel the urge to check the upstairs mini apt. where I stay on visits and if I go around a corner to the bathroom I feel inclined to do it again. BUT I can overcome it. And thats really the only thing I do and that has been improving drastically. ITs always a battle. But I was so quickly released from the afore mentioned things. Guys you CAN Be released! God WANTS to heal you so badly, but you have to let go of yoru fear and let Him. Thats what OCD is, fear and control and guilt. If you are a Christian and make up your mind right now to let it go, and let God, He will break those bonds and set you free. Be free guys. Be free. Milly |

I have OCD. I think all of these intrusive thoughts that are too disgusting to go into.
Does anyone have any tips to share of how I can stop these intrusive thoughts? I feel like they are stopping me from following Christ because I always think I think them because I am evil. But then when I look at what OCD is defined as it is exactly what I have...I don't get the compulsions so much though. |

thank you so much missionminded. Christ does not want you to have these, but you have to fight them. let Him have control as Lord of Your life, but follow Him no matter what, and see a therapist. He will help you
