Your relationship with God?, If you could describe your relationship with God, what would you say?

I don't have a religion, I have a relationship with God. March 5, 2000 I fell in love with Jesus. Christianity is all about relationship. Relationship is all about faith, love, trust, committment, passion, intimacy, and communication. Real relationships grow. Jesus has already loved me with an everlasting unconditional self-sacrificing love and proven it by dying on Calvary. Plus He gave us all the promises in His word. Now He's teaching me to love Him and to trust Him and believe Him. He's drawing me into a deeper committment. As we continue to communicate the passion and intimacy grows between us. God is my all in all, my everything. I can't live a day without Him! My sin is the only thing that can rip us apart. Therefore I desire holiness with everything within me. When I sin against Him it's like my heart is torn in pieces, and that is why my prayer is often, "Unite my heart to fear thy name (Psalms 86:11) Lord unite my heart with your heart. Give me your hatred for sin and passion for righteousness." See we serve a selfless God, a God who loved and GAVE His only begotten Son, but we are naturally selfish creatures. God is healing us of our selfishness. "I want to love You more, just like You love me, I want to give You more of myself so selflessly." "Lord, I want nothing less than holiness, not my will but thine be done, let our hearts become as one, Lord I pray you'll see, when you look at me, nothing less than holiness." I talk to Him like my Father and my Friend because He is. I don't go to church to be entertained or to be apart of a social club, but I got to meet with God and to love God and to be loved by God and to hear God and feel God and even be filled with God's Holy Spirit. It's all about relationship.

I think that this part of Psalm 40 sums it up fairly well:

"As for me, I am poor and needy, but the Lord takes thought for me. You are my Help, and my Deliverer."

Expanding on that, the Lord is a source of comfort for me, He's there when I need Him the most and always sends something or someone my way that just makes my day better.

However, my relationship with Him is one of constant ups and downs. I'll have a realllyyy good stretch, and then something just comes, I'll get depressed (mildly- I'm too silly of a person to be seriously depressed), and it falls.
And then I turn to Him, and with His help work my way through it, and I love Him and want to live for Him, and then something else happens.
So, yes, my walk with Him is constant fallings and failings, and I need to learn and depend on Him to get me through them, 'cause I do a rotten job of it myself. :/
Luckily, I think I usually learn something from each time, and that way, I can see not to fall into that again.

Spiritual warfare, much?

I do think that my faith is being made stronger every day however, and that it is actually getting a lot easier to love Him then, say, a few months back. smile.gif

You are not alone. I can't even examine one of my prayers, a devotional, or a conversation I had with someone (as Godly as I try to make it to be) without noticing some fault or error within myself. Nevertheless, God has been telling me about Romans 5:20 today, that where sin abounded grace did much more, and I am so very blessed to have a God like Him who cares so much.

Aren't you glad that God is stable, unchanging, and always there to pick you back up. Where ever life takes you He'll be your constant!

Everyday, He draws me closer to Himself. He's aware of my imperfections and offers to help me and so i rely on Him to sustain the relationship by His unfading love and grace.

Through His word, I get more insight on His love for me, His constant call on me to come to Him, His willingness to accept me, and how He values me, not minding my poor and wretched state.

He knows me more than I know myself, He knows how weak and faint my love for Him is. So, I don't have to do it on my own but to depend on Him for such an undeserved friendship.
