A Week in December - Sebastian Faulks. It's alright so far, I'm waiting to see if it picks up a bit though.
Possession - A.S. Byat. If you value your intelligence, don't read this. It's so mind-numbingly boring that it will turn your brain to mush DX

And then a load of random books that are scattered round my room, half-read, that I really need to finish!

    Love Dante, too.
All you who love Dante are awesome. Enough said.

Except, for, y'know, if you're talking about those better than Homer.

Though, Dante does carry his own and has some outstanding merits. I'm just a bit more fond of Homer.

Out of the Silent Planet by C.S. Lewis. Excited for Perelandra, my english teacher said it was one of the best books he has ever read.

The Heart of Christianity by Marcus J. Borg. I am definitely not alone in having this book restore my faith in God. In easily acceptable prose, Borg succinctly shows us how a progressive worldview is not at odds with the Christian faith, but rather adds to its beauty and power. For me personally, Borg has a way of articulating what I have grasped through shadows and making those concepts crystal clear. His explanation of "thin places", where the reality of God bleeds through into our experience, finally allowed me to comprehend the sublime experiences I have had on my path to re-conversion. This book for anyone who finds something sacred in the Christian tradition, but find the fundamentalist-orthodox displays of faith lacking in grace.

"What is the Absolute? Something that appears to us in fleeting experiences--say, through the gentle smile of a beautiful woman, or even through the warm caring smile of a person who may otherwise seem ugly and rude. In such miraculous but extremely fragile moments, another dimension transpires through our reality. As such, the Absolute is easily corroded;it slips all too easily through our fingers and must be handled as carefully as a butterfly." - Slavoj Žižek

    I just finished Catching Fire.

I'll reserve Mockingjay for my upcoming plane trip.

I've just started reading The Grapes of Wrath. It's alright, but I'm kind of amazed at how Steinback will fill up entire chapters with just descriptions of landscape. Of the three chapters I've thumbed through already, only one of them has had actual narrative. Chapter 3 tells a riveting little anecdote about a turtle walking next to a road. So... yeah! Kinda wish I'd previewed this book before I picked it for my book report!
