It depends on the population in question... and for starters I'm guessing we're talking about humans XD.

Ideally, a population stable at it's carrying capacity is the best. Fortunately/unfortunately for us, we don't really know what the earth's carrying capacity for us humans is quite yet. But anyhoo, if we were underpopulated, it'd be best to grow; overpouplated would be best to shrink; just right would be best to stay where we are. This applies for the global community or smaller stuff like countries. Yay for learning stuff in bio >.<

The world is running out of resources. Before too long, the human population will reach its carrying capacity and billions of people will die because they won't have the resources to survive. Thus, it would be much better if our population was not increasing. However, to prevent the human population from increasing you'd either have to make it illegal to reproduce (which ain't gonna happen) or do another holocaust (which is just plain evil). Since neither of those options are practical (or moral), the human population is going to continue to increase. We'll just have to deal with it.[/b]
If you could provide evidence for these claims that would be helpful.

We aren't running out of resources. We are incorporating more and more renewable resources every year.

Just as an FYI one of the biggest threats in our near future is actually the usage of the worlds fresh water resource which is constantly being depleated by things such as botteled water ect... in the future that will be what we face as a race as our challenge not food resources.[/b]
    Once again, evidence?

Out planet CAN NOT lose h20, its impossible. So I find this ridiculous.

What seaisebella meant was that we're using the water that is fit for human consumption. It comes out of us as unusable. I have no clue if it could be changed to be usable or not.

Of course it can. Water will run through underground "filters" of rock, be evaporated into the sky, fall again as clean rain water. Apart from this, your local water treatment plant can make anything drinkable.

    The water parts do...

look, you can take anything with water in it, boil it and capture the evaporation and that water will be pure - not even germs.

I was being half serious with my last post FYI. And I think someone else should post soon so we can get back on topic!

Edit: Put in smiley. Thought it would be a nice touch

You know, we could also enforce vegetarianism. It's amazing how much food and water gets used up to feed/grow cattle, and we'd have a LOT MORE grain for ourselves if everyone ate it in its pure form, not through an animal.

Actually, there's probably more water on the earth than when Jesus walked. You know, all the meteorites, I'm sure there was at least a little bit of water added by all the tons of space debris that hits earth everyday.
