Hey everyone. So, I am reading a book called " THE CASE FOR A CREATOR " by Lee Strobel. Lee Strobel is a Journalist that was once a Atheist. He is now a Christian. I'm not too far in the book, I'm on p. 43. So, there is a quote that came up that I'd like to guys to debate. I will post more from the book once I read a bit more.

If Darwin is right, then we are just sophisticated monkeys. The Bible is wrong. God doesn't exist. And without God, there is no right and wrong. We can just make up our morals as we go. The Basis for all we believe is destroyed.[/b]
What do you guys think? And please back it up!!

Lol Lee Strobel. What a silly guy.

And isn't this kind of debate not allowed or something?

I hope I am not breaking any rules! If so, I apologize! What's wrong with Lee Strobel? What's silly about him?

Completely absurd quote. It's perfectly feasible to create an ethical system without the need for an external god.

People were ethical before thy believed in God. Ethics existed before theological belief.

If you believe in creationism, theological belief has been around forever, as have ethics.

if you don't, then sure. ethical beliefs have been around since before religion, probably.
but at the same time, if evolution is true
    genesis goes down the drain
OUR MOTIVE for worshipping Christ has gone down the drain as His death would mean nothing.

because even with theistic evolution, there would have been death around before man. before the fall of man. death around before sin. isn't that contradictory? then death cannot atone for sin. Christ's death would mean nothing.

& no getting on my case for semantics, i really detest that. Please look at the ideas and not the little words, unless you think it means a HUGE deal.

Wait, so metaphorical Genesis invalidates Christianity?

If that is true, then justification for ethics came later than ethics. Which is actually an absurd statement, since a part of ethics is justifying that there even are right and wrong ways of acting.

When we were tribal cavemen(homo ergastor) we would protect and help out our own tribe but would still fight with others.(just like today) We may have not invented the word for ethics or ethical philosophy, but we were definately practicing it in it's very earliest forms: proto-ethics.

I beg to differ. There's nothing silly about Dan Brown, Erik Von Daniken or J.K. Rowling.
