Well it is just a building to some and a sanctuary to others. Most anything done by someone in this kind of scenario will upset someone thus they view it as a disrespectful whether others agree or not. It just depends how you view the place of worship. Just like some certain minority people don't like it when you call them a name and other people of the same minority don't have a problem with it.

I endeavor to be as respectful to other's religious traditions as possible. Even when I was an atheist agnostic, South Park would anger me from denigrating religious figures from Jesus to Gautama Buddha.

And South Park depicts Jesus as what? I've seen almost all episodes of South Park (I stopped watching around season 9-10 onwards when the show went downhill) and Jesus is usually portrayed as good natured and Christ-like. Case in point: [Season 4 Episode 10 of South Park, Probably]

Now juxtapose that with how atheists were portrayed in South Park. The infamous Richard Dawkins scene. It's the equivalent of The Aristocrats joke, but you don't see Richard Dawkins getting offended at that.

I am not so sure it is fit to compare Christ to Dawkins, since Dawkins is not sacralized by atheists.

Well, yeah... That's why I said Dawkins himself should have been offended. No atheist cared about what the South Park creators did to Dawkins anyway. (In the same token, I don't think any Buddhist would care what the South Park creators did to them, considering that they are taught this: ‘If you meet the Buddha, kill the Buddha.') What I forgot to type was, there is something that the atheists could possibly take offense at. It's not puerile jibes at Dawkins, but misrepresentation of atheism (possibly). In that same episode, "atheism has in turn split into three hostile denominations at perpetual war over the so-called "Great Question": the super-intelligent otters of the AAA (Allied Atheist Alliance), the humans of the UAA (United Atheist Alliance), and a rival human faction, the UAL (Unified Atheist League). " Basically, atheists are said to be no different than their theists counterpart, and are equally as snobbish and bickerish that they would split themselves into irreconcilable denominations. For atheists who don't think that atheism is consistent with being bickering idiots, that's misrepresentation. That is like saying Jesus is a mass murderer. Of course, the South Park creators never portrayed Jesus that way. In the Probably episode, "Cartman has turned the children's church into an Evangelical-type cult and attempts to perform miracles during his services. Soon, Stan and Kyle discover Cartman swimming in cash in the back room. He reveals to Stan and Kyle that he only opened the church to con kids out of money. Stan and Kyle are disillusioned by this, but they can't do anything about it as long as other children give their money to Cartman. Sister Anne however asks Jesus to visit. Jesus tells the children that God does not want them to be afraid of Hell or to just worship all day, but to help others and live good happy lives." Is that a misrepresentation of how Christians view Jesus?

All I'm saying is, if it's only silly childish things like licking a wall, as opposed to ACTUAL MISREPRENSATION like say committing mass murder inside a church with the blessing of the vicar, what's there to be offended about? Or am I wrong and you have the right to demand beheadings when the South Park creators draw a picture of Jesus? In that case, you might as well, as The Escapist points out, curse the birds who crap on these churches.

I have a thing about spit. Can't deal with it in the wrong contexts. Freaks the bejesus out of me. So, I'd appreciate it if this dude didn't smother his saliva over my sacred places with his tongue.

But it's just a building. A man-made concrete structure. There is nothing magical about it. You could knock down the walls, if people still come there congregating and worshiping together, it would be no different. In certain countries, where Christians are persecuted and have their churches destroyed, the congregations just come to an empty plot of land to do their church business. Jesus certainly didn't need concrete walls to preach from.

I think this is gross, and disrespectful.

Hyperbole much? I said absolutely nothing of action taken against him. All I said is that it was disrespectful. Am I not allowed to hold such an opinion? I also believe the South Park creators to be irreverently disrespectful, in general, not only as it regards religion. I think their mockery of Steve Irwin was despicable. If you were around these forums for more than a month, perhaps you would not make such silly nonsense statements. I am a staunch progressive who is morally outraged at homophobia, violence, and torture in the name of God.
