Yes, I`m going to get it, along with the regular flu shot. My body is already in bad enough shape that I can`t take a blow like a flu.

Heck no. There's no way in you-know-where that I'd get that vaccine or pretty much any other vaccine for that matter. No thanks.

Nope, not getting one. Firstly, I don't have health insurance and secondly, the swine flu isn't this huge pandemic the media is making it out to be.

No, but I don't think people should write it off as nothing either.....
I mean flu season hasn't really even started yet. Someone told me that the closet strain to this one was related too came through about 50yrs ago (thats why older people arn't getting it, their immune) and while it started off small it got worse quickly and killed a ton of people. The vaccine is your own choice but don't go with a "its nothing" attitude just yet. And as always... Wash your hands and cover your mouth. Bleh! |

My sister got the flu shot (I think it was regular flu, not swine flu), and she got the regular flu about 3 months later. I don't think a flu shot is actually that effective, so it's unlikely for me to get one.

I've never had a shot in my life, not one, therefore I've never had a flu shot before. For years I never had the flu...then my grandmother (who gets the flu shot every year) starts living with us; she gets the shot last year, and within a week I had the flu. Literally, like the worst case of the flu that I've ever had, but it's been years since I've had it, mind you. Come to find out, all those years before, the flu shot was being created with a "killed virus" (in other words, if you come in contact with someone who's had the shot and contains that flu germ, you won't contract the flu, because the germ is 'dead'). Last year the flu shot was created with a "living virus," which is why I caught the flu from my grandmother, who was carrying the living germ...
My point is this: if you should be considering getting the flu shot (and recommend that you don't), just remember, if the shot contains a living virus this year and you happen to come in contact with someone who hasn't had the shot, then you mostly likely will pass on the germ, causing them to come down with the flu. Therefore, I'm just saying...think about it and be considerate. |

The pharmaceutical companies and CDC speculate and plan and hand pick handful of the thousands of strains of the flu virus that they believe are going to be a problem in that year, and they use those in the vaccine. They just take a shot in the dark and hope it hits the target. |

Nope. Having already contracted h1n1 getting the vaccine would be pointless. Oh by the way, its really not that big of a deal. Didn't keep me out of class or work. Then you didn't have flu, whether it was regular or swine or something else entirely. You had a cold and you're doing what every single bloke ever does which is to claim it's the flu to make yourself look more manly etc. secondly, the swine flu isn't this huge pandemic the media is making it out to be. Because it's not swine flu season yet... it starts when the weather gets really cold which, certainly in Britain, it ain't doing. When it gets properly cold and flu season is in full swing, tell me then that it isn't a pandemic. Until then hold judgment My sister got the flu shot (I think it was regular flu, not swine flu), and she got the regular flu about 3 months later. I don't think a flu shot is actually that effective, so it's unlikely for me to get one. Okay, to explain the NHS, it's all about checks and balances. They have to pay millions, if not billions, each year to immunise certain demographics against the flu. They would not do this unless a. the vaccine was effective because b. that means it isn't cost effective. The vaccine is effective, it provides, on average each year, a 95% cover rate for flu. Yes, it can't provide 100% but then again, is anything ever 100%? I've never had a shot in my life, not one, therefore I've never had a flu shot before. For years I never had the flu...then my grandmother (who gets the flu shot every year) starts living with us; she gets the shot last year, and within a week I had the flu. Therefore, I'm just saying...think about it and be considerate. THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS A LIVING VIRUS VACCINE! Okay, if some people still don't get it THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS A LIVING VIRUS VACCINE! I don't think I need to do it one more time for affect. The closest you'll come to a "living vaccine" which seems to be the medias favourite phrase, is an attenuated virus where it is grown so that it has no virulent properties but so the antigens stay the same. Apart from that, they're always always always always dead. Also, if you have a "living virus" inside of you which has immunised you against itself then when you pass it onto someone else, they're also going to be immunised against it. Which is even more so the case of you and your gran. She would have had a far weaker immune system to you, it is just a massive coincidence that you got flu then, very unfortunate. The pharmaceutical companies and CDC speculate and plan and hand pick handful of the thousands of strains of the flu virus that they believe are going to be a problem in that year, and they use those in the vaccine. They just take a shot in the dark and hope it hits the target. That ain't true. I can tell you right now that ain't true. I'll get the papers up when I get back home. But before I do, please also provide evidence of your claim =] |

Ooookkk, anyway I had a fever, pretty bad lower respiratory congestion, and vomiting for a few nights. The whole deal lasted about 1 week. Our flu season is coming to a close around my area. The worst time is the time in between the fall/winter months, as the weather changes. Perhaps you should look into the flumist vaccine? It is a live culture of the h1n1 virus, that uses the nasal injectors that we use to administer epinephrine. Its called LAIV or Live Attenuated Influenza Vaccine. I could bother to post references about the flu strains, or the process that the WHO goes through in selecting the 3 strains that are the best, but I really thought that was common knowledge.... |

The whole deal lasted about 1 week. Our flu season is coming to a close around my area. The worst time is the time in between the fall/winter months, as the weather changes. That ain't true. The flu season is when it's coldest because a. people are more likely to be indoors and around each other b. the air is dryer so they survive easier outsid the body and c. your mucous are more dried out so it's harder to repel any incoming bacteria. it's not the changing of the weather, it's the changed weather. Also, I'm gonna say this once... if you were that sick you're either a. a complete and utter idiot for going in and risking giving it to other people b. lying about goin in or c. lying about your symptons. QUOTE Perhaps you should look into the flumist vaccine? It is a live culture of the h1n1 virus, that uses the nasal injectors that we use to administer epinephrine. Its called LAIV or Live Attenuated Influenza Vaccine. okay, do you know what attenuated means? I said it earlier, they remove any virulent parts of the virus so that the antigens are left on the outside. Yes, it is "living" but there is none of the harmful stuff left active. Outside, it is the same however, the inside, which is what does the damage, is completly different. And if it's "ohmygosh I'm putting something living inside my body" then you're in for a massive shock cos bacteria outnumber the cells in our body. QUOTE I could bother to post references about the flu strains, or the process that the WHO goes through in selecting the 3 strains that are the best, but I really thought that was common knowledge.... You said that they took a shot in the dark though, that suggests they closed their eyes, twirled around and chose the first flu they landed on. I wanted you to prove that they take a shot in the dark, however you're now saying they have a system. make up your mind as to how they pick it =] also, that system must be fairly effective of they get it consistently correct, unless they're just reallly luckky. Also, I'm guessing from your name that you're a fireman. I'm sure that you have a system for deciding which entrance to use to get intoa burning house, doubt you charge through the first one. A lot of them time you'll get it correct, however sometimes you won't. you can expect scientists to be infallible when no one else is, that's just hypocrypsy to the max! |

They just take a shot in the dark and hope it hits the target. With thousands of strains of flu virus, only a few were selected for use in the vaccine. So why bother getting vaccinated at all? |

QUOTE 1. I know people who have had H1N1 and were completely fine. 2. More people have died from the vaccine than the swine flu itself. I'll take my chances. 1. That's crap. They would of been in bed for 2 weeks. Even with a basic cold, you feel far from fine. And sure, most people recover, but then again your muscles can melt with swine flu and you will be urinating black urine for the rest of your life. Are you sure it's worth taking your chances? 2. No one has died from the vaccine this year. You are thinking about the 76 Outbreak, and yeah in 76, America's medical system was worse than Mexico's is now. We have advanced-(not Mexico. America.) The most common side-effect is soreness in the injection area and drowsiness. Only 3% even claimed nausea-(which is so common with soooo many vaccines), and less than 1% reported vomiting.
