Why do we still watch The Simpsons?

Like many people, I am a fan of The Simpsons. That is, The Simpsons up until around season 13 or so. I haven't enjoyed a new episode in years, and yet this Sunday I continued my ritual of watching that show, just as I have done for essentially my entire life. Lately I've been asking myself, why do I still watch this show? I know its never going to go back to its former glory, yet I continue to watch. In fact, I've seen every episode ever made!

So why do you think people still watch this show?

It's tradition for me lol... Ever since I was 4 or 5 I would watch the Simpsons every Sunday night, and yeah it was funny. Now it sucks but I still watch it, so I guess it's just tradition lol.

I think people still watch the Simpsons for the same reason people will flock to a movie with all the Loony Tunes characters in it... people love those characters. They've become ingrained into American culture.

I love The Simpsons, but like you said, only up until the 13th season. I watch old episodes all the time, but I enjoy a new one every now and then, just to see what it's like. Some of them aren't too bad.

Why do I keep watching it? 'Cause it's the best TV show known to man. Period.

Nope, South Park has died since season 9 onwards. From then on, Cartoon Wars seems to be only episode I find to be funny.
Contrast that with earlier seasons, where we have "Chinpokomon", "sexual harrasment panda", "the red badge of gayness" "Cartman joins Nambla", "Something you can do with your finger", "Do the handicapped go to hell", "wacky molestation adventure", "Scott Tenorman must die", "Kenny Dies", "Toilet Paper", "Fat Butt and Pancake Head", "Christian Rock Hard", "Grey Dawn", "Casa Bonita", "Raisins", "Awesome-O", "The passion of the Jew", "Douche and Turd", "Quest for ratings", "Pre-school", "Stupid Spoiled Hilton Video Playset", "Cartman's Incredible Gift", etc.
